Guacamelee was really fun. I ending up finishing it in around 6 hours, I was messing around a bit at the start but ended up charging through towards the end of the game, it hit a pretty nice pace once it gets going. Oh and the animations are gorgeous. Now I really want to go back and actually play through Dust and Outland. Ori looks like the next 'metroidvania' with a lot of potential.

E3 has left me pumped for vidya games in 2014. Horizon 2, Sunset Overdrive, Destiny and D3 look like they'll keep me plenty busy. Plus Evolve and finally getting to play Halo 2. Mmm.

Does anyone know about an issue where you can't save your clips? Like I've got plenty of space I think, but when I click on a clip to save it the save option isn't there

Of the last 3 games I purchased on my 1-
Wolfenstein was great and worth my money

Valiant Hearts was great and worth more than what I paid for the art and music alone.

Watch Dogs is boring and stale and they didn't use the one unique thing this game brought to the table in a terribly interesting way. Think i'm gonna trade it towards Sniper Elite 3

Going to have to agree with Mulllet. While technically servicable I found thhe game to be nothing speciial. The hacking was underutiliized the story was a snoozefest and a lot of the characters just as drab. And everything ellse is sttandard open world at this point.

Not going to say you can't enjoy is. But personally its the most disappointing title I've played in a while.

I actually found Wolfenstein more disappointing since I was looking forward to that. Watch Dogs was something I wasn't really interested in so it was a pleasant surprise. I found GTA much more frustrating and objectionable, the loudest snoozefest I've ever played

  • UnbreakableVowUnbreakableVow Registered User regular
    Yeah, Watch Dogs was...

Let's just say I really regret buying it digital, because at least I could have recouped some of the cost by selling it less than a week after it hit

Watch Dogs was totally OK. It just felt strange because it felt like it was just a bunch of different Ubisoft games crammed together. It didn't have a soul.

Which sounds weird to say about a game but it's the best way I can describe it - I thought it was totally OK though.

Yeah, while I certainly wouldn't say it's the best game I've played all year, Watch_Dogs is alright...

Part of the problem is it's not the game that people built up in their heads. This hype whiplash being greatly magnified by its faults, starting with the protagonist. Why Ubi bothered to write Aiden as a character with introverted emotions after Connor is beyond me, though Aiden falls more along the sociopathic side.

I went back to finish ac4 after getting started on watch dogs and that was an open world game that looks great and not like an xbox 360 game and had personality and interesting things happen. I admit i may just be burnt out on open world games like gta though. I also hope the next watch dogs takes the ac1-ac2 jump and the sequel ends up being what people hoped the first was.

To be honest, I don't use YouTube much if ever, but I was pleasantly surprised at the utility offered by the remote. It's much more feasible for my son to use (he's hearing impaired and as such his pronunciation and speech are somehow difficult for Kinect to reliably understand). Plus my wife abhors speaking to the TV and finds the remote much more user friendly.

So, I guess under right circumstances it's a sound investment.

I would point out the form factor is amazing. I'm not sure what it's made of (plastic, duh), but the feel of the device is remarkable. I wish more of my remotes felt this comfortable in-hand.

YouTube really needs to get their shit together on their console apps when it comes to the keyboard. Scrambling across a 28-key row using the controller is objectively garbage (especially when voice search isn't implemented, making it the only basic on-screen method). SmartGlass makes it a breeze, but I don't see why they couldn't implement the regular Xbox QWERTY screen for the app.

to be honest, other than being able to use it to upload videos, pretty much everything about the YouTube app on the Xbone is terrible. the thing is just hideous and an absolute shore to use.

Watch Dogs is one of the most disappointing games I've ever played (not just because of the graphics downgrades either). However, the basic gameplay and concept is going to make for an amazing sequel. I'm thinking something along the lines of AC 2 from AC.

Wolfenstein is one of the best shooters I've played in a long time and managed to lampoon the "Main character is a sociopath who murders hundreds of people" thing as well. It was an incredibly pleasant surprise.

You could spend a tad bit more and get any Harmony remote, which I can confirm works with the YouTube app and everything else on XBO. Also your TV, AVR, cable box, etc.

The ones we have are the Harmony One and the Harmony 5950 I think. The One is high end (100+), the other I paid like 40 for. There are even cheaper models of Harmony remotes and every single one will work woth the XBO.

Finished up Guacamelee STCE the other day; it was my first playthrough of the game and I only picked it up because it was free... I feel like a dick; had I known... HAD I KNOWN THAT THIS GAME WOULD BE SO FANTASTIC.... I would have paid full price for it. Hell, double price for it. Words can't even begin to describe how much I enjoyed the game. Smooth visuals and animation, fun gameplay, and the MUSIC. Good lord the music for dungeons was almost genius. Not as pumped about hard mode though. Hard mode is just "you die in fewer hits". I suppose that's expected in hard mode, but I was hoping it would be something like them throwing harder enemies at you earlier instead, or more objects to work around in platforming. But oh well, still a solid 10/10 game.

Just recently picked up one myself. I got the titanfall bundle, and my GF wanted a dance game so the kinect was not a waste.

I got TR, AC, Forza, DR, and it came with kinect sports rivals (unplayed as yet) and titanfall.

I was surprised at how good TR was, I never picked it up on the PS3 or 360 because I figured it would get a next gen release, same with AC.

Forza is good, looks nice, and it makes me really look forward to Horizon for some more arcadey gameplay.

I also have to agree with some of the people above. I got Guacamelee for free just cuz I wanted more to play, And I was surprised at how good it is. It's a heck of a lot of fun and really well done overall.

Overall I like the system, I actually REALLY like the voice commands on the kinect for a few simple things. Pause, play, next episode, etc are pretty useful when the remote is out of reach for someone that needs to use it.

Gesture controls for me are a complete pain in the ass however... it seems to just not be able to really see my hand well. I know I have an imperfect setup, and that doesn't help. But it's good enough for general use. Scanning codes in is kind of easy.

I do hope that removing the kinect as required doesn't make them abandon work on it entirely, it could use some help from a bit more cleanup and all that code updates could bring.

In general I think my only complaints are that the youtube app keeps freezing when I exit it (requiring me to start another app, then start it again), and that the overall interface is a bit of a mess.

I much prefer how well organized the 360 is. Having to go into a section (like games), then keep going around till I get to new releases or demo's, then down to the "..." to expand to see more than a few games is a bit annoying. Store and r/l bumper to tab through sections was WAY faster.

And I do like the new controller. Not a huge shift from the old mind you. But the D pad and the trigger rumble are awesome. I want them to make another chat pad however... I LOVED that thing on my 360, and it's sorely missed here.

Not sure where to put this, but here we are:

Kinect 2.0 is coming to PC! And soon too, it's out July 15.

The catch? It costs $200 for some reason.

...not sure if Microsoft is intentionally doing all they can to make the buying public sick of the thing, but they're off to a great start if so.

This is confusing. If it costs more than the $100 they are selling it for for the xbox, are they losing money on the standalone ones? It was using some of the ones processing power I believe, they did add better on board processing/memory to accomodate for lack of the Xbone and this higher pricing point is a result of it? Or is it Microsoft just being silly on the PC Side?

I imagine it comes with some kind of developer software, It's not just the Kinect with a USB cord. I think the idea is people using the tech there for VR, medical or security purposes, and even game development for [email protected] The original Kinect sold decently by itself for the same reasons.

It doesn't ship with any software, it uses the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0 which is available as a separate license if you need to use it commercially. For personal use, it'll probably be available here soon.

Your guess is as good as mine as to why it's $200. My current guess is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is it the same hardware as the console versions? Or did they do some major revisions with the One version? I'm going off the theory that a PC Kinect would have to have a functionally different camera since a PC user is going to be less than a foot away from it.

Though that wouldn't explain an added $100 cost though I guess.

Nah it wouldn't be different hardware. PC Kinect users are probably still going to have to sit X amount of feet away (which is still doable with a controller).

GTAV is a decent improvement over IV, at the very least from a control stand point. the game is still structured much the same, but there are tons of little mechanical improvements so the game isn't anywhere near as frustrating as IV could be.

if you pre-order Destiny you get a beta code, so that might be a good way to try before you buy. i know a beta isn't 100% representative of the finished game, but i'd wager that Destiny will be pretty close to final.

I think they priced the Kinect at $200 because they honestly don't expect a ton of consumer sales to come out of it which will have direct impacts on software attach rates. Most of the folks buying it for PC are going to be homebrewing amazing things and not average consumers, so it's a one-off sale to them.

Which, granted, still doesn't make a ton of sense. Should give the things out and try to get better market penetration so new software and ideas come out, but whatevs.

What is this I don't even.
