Guacamelee is so great - I hope the developers are getting paid well for MS giving this out for free.
I'm hoping that Child of Light goes up on GWG soon.
The new dashboard update is superb, especially the achievement snap functionality. This is so much better than Achievements used to be tracked on the 360, just too bad it took them 8 months to get it right.
Guys, the original Kinect for Windows cost $250 (the standalone sensor for the 360 cost $100), getting the Xbone version for $200 is a goddamn steal in comparison.
God damnit Sniper Elite 3 you better be the last damn game that doesnt realise Xbox One can track achievements.
This damn kill 30 people from a sniper position achievement is glitched.
Super glitchy game, fun in small bursts, but far too limited to recommend. I cant believe theyre charging 100 damn dollars for the digital version of it. The AUDACITY.
Woops yeah thats the Australian price. I mean yeah we have higher incomes than places like the US, but 50 US and 100 AUS is an insane markup, considering the exchange rate actually works out to 50 US being like 55 australian.

yeah digital prices for console games don't get marked down the way physical copies do because there's no retailer to decide to take a hit on their own margin and sell more copies.

Don't worry Australian Bros, for some reason all "next gen" games are now $70 in Canada!

I believe at least in Toronto that extra 10 bucks goes to the recently instated "Rob Ford Crack Tax".

So, I got Ryse in through Gamefly the other day and I was going to just package and send it back, but I decided to pop it in and give it a whirl based on feedback from here. Overall, it's not nearly as bad as it was made out to be, especially for a launch title. It's looks amazing, and executing dudes has yet to get old.
I do take exception to the damn install though. WTF XBone? I pop Ryse in and from the jump, I need a 9.5 Gb update. Uh ok, my internet sucks but sure go ahead. A short while later it starts the install. This install takes HOURS. Somewhere around 75% it says "Ready to Play!" I fire it up, chose to start a campaign, and get dropped in ANOTHER install screen! I guess "Ready to Play!" means "Open the fucking first menu". Oh, and this new install screen froze so I had to scrub the whole thing and start from scratch. And before anyone says "lol Next Gen probz!" I have never had to wait even a fraction of that kind of time for anything on the PS4. I buy consoles for frictionless gaming. I really hope XBone gets it's shit together with this stuff. The one bright spot with the long install is that I was able to burn through the first few levels of Max:Brotherhood while I waited. /rant
All in all, once I was able to fire it up, Ryse turned out pretty good. So, you know, good call PA.

That is a launch title problem more than an xbox one problem, and it is also a problem of all games needing to be fully patched (with Ryse having a massive amount of patchwork done since launch). I have installed a fair number of games to my xbox one without any major headaches... Ryse did take a while though.
Also, from developer to developer, the point of "ready to play" is quite muddy. Like, they made that point appear WAY too early during the watch dogs digital install, and you end up spending more time waiting to continue past this initial taste than you do during the first wait... really broke the flow for me.

I thought FIFA did a good job of this, by having an exhibition game be the first thing to install (I guess?) so that when it was "ready to play" I could actually, you know, play.
Ryse was the opposite. "Ready to play" truly meant "Ready to Look at the Menu."

Reviews were way to harsh on Ryse, if u can find it cheap it's a huge recommend from me. They should've included a demo, they would've gotten way more sales when people realised it was actually pretty fun.
Guacamelee, like Rayman Legends, is a great game to play with my 4 year-old. The co-op mechanic of having a little floating orb when one person dies, which allows me to platform through a difficult section and then bring him back into the game, is brilliant. He just loves kicking the crap out of dudes as Tostada, and I love sitting next to him doing one of my favorite things together.

Man the upload studio is a mess. Once you go over your storage limit can you just not save any more clips? Because that's weird, since I have tonnes of room left on my HD. Also older files I can't save anymore, the option is just gone. What the hell?

I thought it would delete the oldest clip unless you went in and marked it as saved. Did you save every clip you ever had recorded?
It saves every clip for me by default. I have to manually take down older clips to put up new ones. It saves them all to Upload automatically, but once I piece them together in Upload Studio I have to reupload them all as one clip, to then get it on Youtube.
It doesnt put the "tick" automatically on them no. Its just I cant put the tick on some older files from a few weeks ago. I click them and it just gives me the "edit" option, no option to save. It also says im over my storage space for saved clips, which is ridiculous, since I have about 100 Gig left and want to save more clips. I should be able to save as many damn clips as I want.

Pretty sure the upload clips are saved to the cloud not HDD.

Ugh really? So there's a hard limit? That's annoying. I guess I'll have to start deleting clips (since u can't "unsave" them)
A feature that would allow retail Xbox One units to become developer kits is no longer planned, according to Microsoft.
Xbox Advanced Technology Group's Martin Fuller said there are "no plans" for the feature, which would allow developers to debug and create games without additional Microsoft-supplied hardware that was introduced alongside Microsoft's [email protected] scheme last August.
Microsoft is "denying" it via some corporate PR double-speak but where there's smoke there's fire...
i wouldn't exactly class "This is wrong, we still plan to offer these options. We'll provide details later." as 'corporate PR double-speak'. in fact i'd say the statement is fairly plain and direct.

I was actually a little disappointed that it was Kinect-less, but right now I don't have the space to use the Kinect anyway, so all I'm missing out on are voice controls.

Lol are you kidding me? Plain and direct would be a statement NOT on an Xbox subreddit that says "That is wrong, we are still planning on making every Xbox one into a dev kit for developers to work with. We will have more details later". Even the GB op-ed that hardtarget posted uses that quote as a source from "an Xbox representative"
The way it's worded is the very definition of open interpretation. You could spin that statement into anything you want.
"The statement is inaccurate" - doesn't say it's FALSE or wrong.
"we remain committed to ensuring the best possible solutions" - we can do anything we feel is in our best interest, including backtracking on previous plans
"we will share more details at a later date" - right on, the only truthful statement.
I don't have a horse in this race, I'm just posting news to discuss, but the idea that MS in 2014 would backtrack on a previously highly touted feature isn't that far fetched.
Except we should probs wait for concrete info instead of assuming the worst. Fear mongering over this rumor makes you sound desperate for drama.
Yeah. He's pretty much acting the part of a "well-intentioned" gossiper at this point. Of note, @hardtarget linked an article from Giant Bomb that references a Gamasutra article, quote of note being this:
"We have said that anyone will be able to use retail Xbox Ones to develop games," said head of [email protected] Chris Charla. "We're not there yet, so we need to send custom dev kits."
It's also weird/amusing that people jump on such things, but given Microsoft's lack of a singular voice so far though it's not surprising that people easily pounce on negative angles (even if they don't have a "horse in this race"), so there's at least that.

As far as I know the devkits MS employees are using are hardware identical to retail consoles, the things that open it up as a devkit are all done on the backend and developers get their own private sandbox to play in. The issues with bringing it out are probably more around finding a way to make it secure and not open up giant holes in the system while still allowing people with "devkits" to play their retail games/etc as they normally would.

If the devkit console idea does change as well Id fully expect a form of software subscription plan, or a exchange program to send console in for some minor hardware modification to prevent security loopholes.
