It's a known issue that the new RED cameras have issues with saturation, and therefore make the makeup teams compensate with unrealistic palettes. This causes some weirdness, but the interesting thing is that when I watched the Extended Edition of An Unexpected Journey, they seemed to have gone back and re-timed the whole thing, making it look much better. This isn't the first time Jackson and WETA have had color-timing issues, as it was problematic throughout the various LOTR releases.
Visually, Desolation of Smaug was great except when it wasn't. It used a lot of notable greenscreen in places where Jackson simply didn't do that while shooting LOTR. The all-CG orcs stood out from the practical ones, and the final battle between Gandalf and the Necromancer looked . . . off.

Narratively, that movie is a nightmare.

What's to debate?
Zounds! comes from trying to make "Christ's wounds" not get you into trouble at church.
german spoken in a very serious, low, tone, fast and humorless, comes off as far far more threatening
