Yeah, that's amazing! One of only 2 games that are represented on only a single platform.
Good for them. The game really deserves its success.
I wonder if Square are kicking themselves for not publishing it themselves? Does Nintendo get a big cut of the profits that they otherwise wouldn't have gotten?
I don't know how much Square gets from BD, but they got Lightning Returns on there, so they can't feel that bad.
Which the news of I bet is making the faces of some people go squiggly.

I'll make a bold(ish) prediction and say March looks something like this for software sales
1. Call of Duty: Ghosts (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U, PC)
2. The Lego Movie Videogame (360, PS3, 3DS, Wii U, Xbox One, PS4, Vita)
3. NBA 2K14 (360, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, PC)
4. Titanfall (360, Xbox One, PC)
5. Grand Theft Auto V (360, PS3)
6. Battlefield 4 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
7. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag (360, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Wii U, PC)
8. Metal Gear Solid V (PS4, PS3, 360, XBox One)
9. Minecraft (360)
10. Infamous Second Son (PS4)
I really hope Dark Souls 2 manages to crack the top ten at least. It is definitely a game that is good enough to merit it.
That's a horrible oversight by me. Put it at 6 and move everything down one notch. Sorry Infamous, I honestly don't think you got the hype to crack an NPD top ten.

Hell, might even put South Park on there too.

Man, BF4's system advantage is significant, but I still can't believe it will keep selling steadily in the face of real competition.
wonder how much higher on the list Bravely Default and Minecraft would be if it were done that way.
#2 and #1, according to that VentureBeat article, right?
Yeah, from Nintendo's claim that Bravely Default and Donkey Kong were the #2 and #4 selling individual SKUs, we can infer that Minecraft 360 was the single best-selling SKU of the month. I think the old Nintendo "it prints money!" meme needs to be replaced with a Minecraft version.

I am guessing that that 200k Bravely Default number is most of Nintendo's first print run selling out.
Question!
Who controls the manufacturing of the handheld carts?
Nintendo?
Well okay let me elaborate.
Does Nintendo have to be convinced by publishers how many copies to print? Is the 200k number representative of Square's lack of faith or Nintendo's?
Nintendo is the publisher for Bravely Default. They did a similarly small first print run for Fire Emblem, if you'll recall -- it was very hard to find a physical copy of the game for the first couple months after it was released.
edit: To be clear, this isn't a new development. Nintendo has published games for Square-Enix outside of Japan several times before. Examples include DQ9, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, and... well, most of the Square-Enix games released on GBA.

What does that mean for Lords of Shadow 2? Is that one region? Everywhere? did it sell just 55k copies for the 360 and that was 62% of what? its total shipment or its total sales?

Damn the PS4 and some PSN cards are at the top of Amazon's best seller list again. Jesus it has to stop eventually - right?

And they wonder why 3rd parties are running from Nintendo hardware....
We are going into four generations of third parties running from Nintendo hardware. I don't think anyone is surprised by this news. It's just happening faster this time, and can you blame them? The WiiU is definitely a sales disaster of epic proportions.

Yeah... at this point nobody should be surprised by 3rd parties not making games for a Nintendo home console.
At least they get lots of support for the 3DS thanks to Japan.
Have we officially killed the idea that the Wii U is going to get some kind of miraculous second wind?
An increase of 180% in sales compared to Feb 2013, and it's still outsold by the 360.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
The best thing Nintendo can do this generation is keep making great games, and ride out the rest of this generation the best they can until they are ready to unveil a new machine.
I don't know how miraculous it is (maybe just "obvious"), but I think if they have a second wind in them, it's going to have to be another price drop or crazy bundle.

Problem with the WiiU is that the tablet is such a financial albatross. If you just had the pro controller packed in and thats it, they could sell that machine for nothing and still make money, which would make the machine much more appealing to random people. Still nobody gonna buy 3rd party games on the system, but that ship sailed years ago.

It sold less than 55K copies across all platforms in the US in Feb (360,PS3,PC). 62% of those were on 360.

Problem for the WiiU and the XB1. Instead of dropping the price as the console parts become less expensive they also have to wait for their controller/Kinect components to get less expensive as well.
Well there are a lot more games on the 360 so I don't really find it all that surprising, myself.
And the 360 has a much better release list for March. South Park, Dark Souls 2, Titanfall, etc. It really isn't surprising that the 360 is still trucking.

Remember the fun of seeing like, Mario Kart DS cropping up at number 9 a few years after release, or whatever?
Not bad for February.

Same thing for Wii U. At this rate, sales of that could go from "utterly shitty" to "kinda crap." I've seen a LOT of cheap Wii U bundles.

The numbers for W101 just make me sad.
So much quality in that game.
Hopefully the rage over Bayonetta 2 translates into sales.

We don't know the 3DS numbers but if they're in line with past months its probably around 150k, so 25k Vitas as usual.

Second wind? Sure. I expect it to do okay every big release and during Christmas.
Do well enough to keep with the the PS4 or XB1? I just don't think it can. Especially not after western publishers stop doing PS3/360/WiiU ports.
I expect a spike when mario kart and smash hits. People that wanted zelda/mario already bought a system I am guessing.
That's not doing okay unless you consider Tropical Freeze to not be a big release, which is arguable.
