Ok, so. Your best unit is your starter. It can be evolved 2 times. The first evo uses common materials (easily obtained), the second evo used rare materials (hard to obtain). You can't evo unless your max level. I'd say use your god on your starter for this reason. There will be units along the way that you can obtain as drops. Most of these are only average or weak. The later zones have some decent ones, and the event dungeons also have some cool ones. Focus on getting a mono team (based around your starter as your leader) going. If you're lucky, your honor summons (the points you get from your friends) will yield additional starters.
Do not spend your gems on anything other than rare summons. Not even capacity. The vast majority of the good units are gated behind your rare summons (the kind that requires 5 gems), and they are super worth it.

Oh, with that daily login lottery style thing, my rarity bar went up a level, and I managed to pick a chest with 2 Metal Ghosts. When I tapped on the chest to claim my prize, I only got 1 Metal Ghost. Not a big deal on missing out, but hoping there won't be an issue like that when the rarity hits max and the prize is something like a gem.
So my Level 40 Lady Kikuri has gotten me so many Friend Requests, it's silly. o.O;
Another 4ish levels and I can add Leviathan to my team. Right now it's:

So I just did 11 Rare pulls (~$20 and the gems I had saved) because apparently I have no self control. Before the pulls I was sitting with the following collection (all are rare pulls except the event dudes, Weiss from FB, Zegar, and two Selenas, yes that means I have pulled THREE Larios from Rare Pulls):
Full Teams: Earth (3 Larios, 2 Trees, Leore, and Nemia) Water (3 Selenas, 2 Sirens, Stya)
Almost Full Team: Light (Knight Will, Rameldria, Alma).
Lacking Teams: Dark (Lemia) Fire (Lava, Zegar) Lightning (Weiss, Zeln)
So I really needed some Dark, Fire, and Lightning. I got:
Edea Elimo Knight Will (#2 for me) Great Tree Alneu (#3 for me) Sunshine Luna Lorand Edea Sergio Wyvern Lemia(#2 for me) Bolt Knight Amy (as a gift for the 10 Rare Summons) Zephu
3 more of each Earth/Water/Light types and only ONE of each of the types I needed (one of which was a duplicate!). Thanks game. Apparently you only want me to have mono teams of Water, Earth, and Light. Got it. First and last time I am spending money on this game. Lesson Learned.
Yeah I don't feel particularly compelled to spend money on this game, because it's just a once-off shortcut to summoning a couple of units, which is a pretty big gamble to try and get something worthwhile. If gems were about 1/4-1/2 of the price I might consider it, but as-is, I'm not gonna spend ~5 bucks just for a chance to summon something I might need. I'll just wait until we get gems handed out.

Yeah, Water got a huge upgrade with Elimo, especially since my only big healer was the tree and had a hard time with fire, which was the reason I would break out the mono water team. Earth didn't need anything else and I'm annoyed I got another tree and two Edeas.
I should have gone into the pulls not expecting anything, but since I wanted Fire, Dark, and Lightning I can't help but be a bit frustrated. Especially with dark. Another Lemia when that was my only dark already? Really?!

True. Although I think multiples of strong dudes was more powerful when simul-tap was possible due to the guaranteed spark.
But the completest in me wants to (in order of importance) #1: Have 4-5 star unit mono-teams of each type, #2: get units I don't already have, and #3: upgrade teams to be more powerful. That set of pulls definitely helped with #3, slightly helped with #2, and did nothing for #1.
Yeah I dunno, iOS people still wanted them mainly just for the stats since they could never multi-tap.

Let's see... The first Atro filled out my full-legit light squad (I keep around king blobs for funzies). In the squad are:
5* Lv 71 God Knight Will
4* Lv. 60 Bahamut - Guardian
4* Lv. 17 Holy Queen Luna - Anima
3* Lv 34 Knight Atro - Oracle
3* Lv 24 Angel Maria - Breaker
I can probably drop Maria since she has not been surviving battles long enough to help heal, anyway.

On top of that, I fused 10 blobs to it and suddenly it's up to Lv. 4 Brave Burst. That's enough to earn it the new leader position for the main rainbow squad.
Now that I've been upgrading some units to 5* I'm really starting to get gated by cash. 200k to evolve really takes out a chunk of my weekly allowance. I've also now got an increasingly large number of units that I've evolved to their max rank but haven't spent enough time grinding units for their BB. The backlog of units waiting to level their BB is becoming somewhat defeating.
Currently rocking:
- 21 Fire God Lava (BB 8)
- 55 God arm Galant (BB 6)
- 25 Fire Beast Zegar (BB 4)
- 17 God Phoenix (BB 5)
- 11 Head Chef Lancia (BB 2)

I would have to see some numbers on just how much more damage you get out a BB skill up, but considering how much they usually contribute to a boss fight at just BB1 I will probably only actually work at getting them to BB5-6 and then anything above that is just gravy.

Seriously: first person to get off a decent BB generally wins, and at high levels a single BB pretty much wipes everything that isn't super tanky. Like, a Scythe God Alice gets a leveled BB off? you are fucked.
To those who have shared their ID here and are in the upper levels, have you been getting friend requests from low-level players too? I've got three slots available that I'm happy to use for P-A folks, but if you profile message says nothing about Penny Arcade, then I'll let it sit for a week and see if it updates. If not, then I'll decline.
WOo, finally got to the dark element area of the first map. I was getting an absurd number of drops out of the light area due to my dark elemental badass.

So I just tried to fuse something, and the game wigged out, with the screen closing and reopening and the music playing while the app was closed.
Now when I open it once it gets to the title screen and I click it closes. Is the game down for maintenance or something?
