I have a soft spot for Waffle Crisp.

That soft spot is my tummy.

Because I ate so much of it I got really fat.

@tynic did you switch to oils, or still working in acrylic?

  • tynictynic PICNIC BADASS Registered User, ClubPA regular
Still acrylic. I am tempted by oils because I think the look better and I suspect they'd suit my painting style more, but I think I'm too impatient. Acrylics dry way faster and even so I tend to go in too early when over painting an area.

    Need more zen ...

  • KochikensKochikens Registered User regular
hahah i always used acrylics for the same reason

    no patience for oils

but still, you should try oils. Or you should try painting a red panda then bring it to ireland for me thanks

huge improvement on your last piece from the other ones btw. switching up tech at all, or just more time spent? looks like you're using a lot more colours instead of blacks

  • tynictynic PICNIC BADASS Registered User, ClubPA regular
Just general progression I think. Getting better at brush control and braver with colour choices. Also I find portraits much easier in general. Gonna do another landscape next which will probably be shit but hey.

  • DaMoonRulzDaMoonRulz Mare ImbriumRegistered User regular
@tynic if you need tips on landscape there's always Bob Ross

Bob Ross knew all about painting shit landscapes.

Happy little logs all over the goddamn place.

Tynic, if you ever feel the need to paint a shit portrait, I'd be more than happy to take a couple selfies and send them your way.

Tynic I would like to request a portrait of myself as Kenneth Brannagh in Wild Wild West on top of the giant robo-spider. You have my permission to add yourself in as Will Smith.

I can send a selfie if that would help! Don't worry, I'll add in some lens flares in Photoshop so you don't have to work so hard to translate my glory into paint form.

Oh, and I stopped by the school of art while I was downtown yesterday! They have beginner sculpting lessons starting sometime in June. I think I'm gonna sign up!

If you ever need a reference to draw a fat wookie I'll send a shirtless picture. I don't have a bandolier, however.

I've wanted to take these for like a year! They just never had them at the right time. The same school offers classes on sculpting to cast bronzes with and stuff, I'm really excited to work towards that! It'd be something I could apply to design work *and* to art. Maybe toy around with animatronics eventually, when I have the money to buy random electronic parts...

I did some doodling yesterday, for the first time in ages. It was p crummy.

Drawing people really makes me realise I have no idea what a person looks like.
