I highly recommend drawing fanart if you want to get better at art.
Actually if I can rant for a bit, a lot of beginners get stuck because they’re told to learn the fundamentals first and do studies, etc. I think that’s bullshit. No artist started with the fundamentals, they started by drawing the Ninja Turtles or Goku or whatever.
So if you want to learn how to draw but are constantly staring at a blank page and don’t know where to start or what to do, get really into a game or tv show or book series and go nuts with fanart. It’s more fun than doing studies and you WILL get better.
And then you can learn the fundamentals later.

This x100000. I'm still moving pretty slowly, but I noticed improvements in my own work when I started drawing more of the stuff I really wanted to draw, even if I didn't think I had the skills to do it justice.
Also redefining what I consider a 'study' got me to do them waaaay more often. More often than not I'm not doing one of the agreed-upon classics, but trying to recreate a piece from a fanartist I greatly admire. I've learned a lot by trying to reverse engineer those.

Even Van Gogh?
ESPECIALLY Van Gogh!
DaVinci's Rule34 period works would have been legendary if not so widely suppressed by the Church at the time. As it is, practically all that we have left of that era of his development is The Vitruvian Man.
Couple of heads. It's been a while since I've done any face studies, and I'm trying to focus on solid block-ins, taking my time to measure and observe rather than quickly eyeballing and then fixing things with a lasso.
Drew my current RPG character. A witch strong in herbology and headology.
I'd been getting too mixed up doing neat inks all the time and my stuff has been getting really stale so I'm gonna just do rougher lines with more energy and I am happy with this as a start!

I was familiar with one of these characters. (Senshi)
Elaborate maquettes at 4:00. The timelapse of the painting starts at around 7:00.

I didn’t get around to saying it but Big + Senshi is an excellent choice.
Lots of doodles. Nothing truly usefull;
There’s more over on the artist’s corner part of the forums. But I just wanted to show what I have been working on for the last year.
