Trying to change the official definition of the sacrament of matrimony. This is step two, after the publication of the Unity in Mission. It looks like there aren't enough votes though, to remove "man+woman" from the definition.
I'm deeply disturbed by this, and more than a little ashamed at the possible outcome. Won't know for some hours though, but I think the Bishop fears throwing his weight behind it without more consensus among the older priests.
This Diocese almost split entirely with the Episcopal Church back in 2008 over the national church's allowance of gay marriage, so the fact that the vote is so close now is a tribute to his leadership. But we should be farther along.
I'm really upset. I can,t just stand around frowning, but I don't know how to productively act.
