Okay, so those and this app are members of a small subset of semi-RPGs (which I guess are now called idle games) which revolve around clicking/tapping on a button/object repeatedly in order to get some currency to get other items to help you click the button more rapidly, often without user interference. So once you get them going, you just leave them open and watch the numbers/gold/cookies/etc pile up. They mostly tend towards satire of the same sorts of things as Progress Quest (though they're obviously slightly more interactive than that), though like Progress Quest some folks find them oddly entertaining even though you're barely doing anything.
Sometimes people just like to watch a bar fill up.
@Cog I'm still playing the Star Wars game but feel a bit let down. I feel like I'm super spoiled after playing through both Kingdom Rush games. Like, you've got one of the most perfectly made TD games to steal from and you don't? Kingdom Rush: Star Wars would have been glorious. This Star Wars game is just meh. Not great, not awful. I'll play it until something else steals me away.
Unless of course, I'm missing something. I'm still only on Hoth and have run into no extra variety or fun. Same 4 types of towers and build orders for each map. Upgrades are nice on the heroes, but just stats. Where are the tower abilities? I want customization! And for the love of god, couldn't they have added 2-3 laser firing sounds for the rapid-fire turret? My ears are going to bleed.

@MNC Dover I'm still playing it too, mainly because it's a serviceable TD game that is good enough to keep me plugging away at it, and I've beaten Kingdom Rush so many times. Your complaints are legitimate and I share your sentiments. I can't decide if the game is actually just mediocre or if I'm just that god damned spoiled by Kingdom Rush. Its good, but feels pretty formulaic. For each tower type, one of the final two upgrade choices always feels decidedly superior (rapid fire ranged tower, ground burning artillery tower, defensive melee tower) and the DoT tower is just a flat waste of money.
The big secret to the game is calling every wave immediately because the extra 30 credits per wave are too important to pass up. If you're having a tough time with a level, buying the +500 scrap bonus is usually enough to ensure a 3*. I like that there is an exp/leveling thing, but it's a real letdown that it's not attached to a customization mechanic. I split time with this and the Defenders tower defense game because I just don't want to beat Kingdom Rush again.

I dont know why you people have done this to me but I just got to level 75 in Clicker Hero...
I got to like level 40 something and figured I didn't have much further to go. Opened up the achievements and saw one for "Defeat level 2600". NOPE! Shut it down right there and have felt so much better since.

The thing is clickerheroes is a web browser flash game that doesn't run on phones, so
but I'll add that people shouldn't try to power through after level 140 on their first world in Clickerheroes. go "ascend" and restart. You should farm a few hundred hero souls before moving forward.
Also, Heroes Soul are the most important thing. You should get some ancientes after a while, too.
I just downloaded it and ran through the tutorial; it looks pretty and runs fairly well on an iPad 4. Less "zomg we are all animals how *cute*!" than Fates Forever (which I enjoy playing). I will try out some multi later and see how it handles when The Internets are part of the equation - for FF lag and "low device memory!" alerts are a fly in an otherwise very enjoyable tablet-MOBA ointment. I'll let you know if I think the same of Vainglory.
Vain Glory is quite good. They made a lot of smart decisions when it comes to what they simplified and streamlined. There is only one lane, but it only takes up half of the map, and the other half is jungle with 3 other objectives to go for. Also, each Hero only has 3 powers, and the item system is pretty simple and straight forward (though there are still quite a lot of different items). Lastly, the controls just work. I haven't ran into any situations where the controls caused any frustration or mistakes.
Kingdom Rush Origins is also very good, but so far doesn't appear to be much more than a re-skin with new levels. Which is fine, but it would have been nice if they came up with some all new tower types or changed the formula in any way.
Came here to post essentially the same about Kingdom Rush Origins. I'm not too far into the game yet, so I only have one level 4 tower available (archers), but it appears like they just threw the old tower abilities in a hat and pulled them out to randomly reassign them to the new towers.
The only straight up new mechanic I see so far is the magic plants you can tap when they are 'ripe' to release a volley of magic missiles. And it's nice that the Heroes have an active spell that adds to your reinforcements & nuke abilities.
I really appreciate that they gave the standard troop tower, which are elves, a ranged weapon. This means you don't feel like you're throwing away air defense by placing more troop towers, and they're not UTTERLY HELPLESS against enemies with ranged. As a sort of counter balance, it feels like they made flying enemies harder to kill so they aren't just free money and a break wave.
The biggiest positive of the new game is that the maps are really really big, often requiring some scrolling even when zoomed all the way out to see from one end to the other.
None of the above is an indictment of the game, it's still a Kingdom Rush game which pretty much immediately puts it on the top of the heap when it comes to Tower Defense. I was just hoping to see them shake up the formula a little more for the third iteration. There's still a lot of game left though, I'm only like 5 missions in.
I like Vainglory, but it's arbitrarily incompatible with my iPhone 5. You can download the ipa in iTunes and use iFunbox to install it on an iPhone 5 or 5C, and it runs just fine, no jailbreaking or anything. Just have to do that every time there's an update.
I dunno, I've only been through the tutorials. Maybe it'll turn out that the game lags a lot during big team battles? But the iPad version runs on an iPad 2, so I doubt it.
The one complaint I have about Kingdom Rush: Origins is the same complaint I had with the old ones: Let me try out your fancy heroes before I buy them.
Seriously, like make a demo level where there's one wave with your hero at low power, and one short wave with your hero at high power and let me test-drive them.
I'm not dropping $7 on a hero, sight-unseen.

But with this one you just tap on the screen. Anywhere. As fast as humanly possible.
Am I missing something?

I'm getting some odd input lag on my iPhone 5, though. Does it sync the player action to the beat or something?
Fuck, I did not need this sucking my life away.

And as beautiful and mind-f'ing as usual...

I'm up to 160 each time without paying attention, and 300 something hero souls. But this is not clickerheroes thread so I stop

See, I don't get your idle game thing, so I was tuning them all out.
You kids and your tapping screens.
More Monument Valley!? I'm so there.
So good. Some levels I had to set the rotate lock on so that I could turn my ipad to figure out where the hell I could go...
