Moment of the Week for 04-04-2007

edited April 2007 in Graphic Violence
All right guys, you know the drill. What were the best moments in this week's releases?

Mine is definitely from Annihilation:Heralds of Galactus #2.
Silver Surfer surfs on the energies of the Crunch, causing a tidal wave that motherfucking KILLS Tenebrous and Aegis. These are two cosmic beings that are just about on the same scale as Galactus. They're the ones who put the beatdown on Galactus and whom only Galactus has ever been able to defeat.
Silver Surfer is officially the most badassiest cosmic dude ever.

When he dies, I hope they write "Worst Affirmative Action Hire, EVER" on his grave. His corpse should be trolled.

I got two, one from The Initiative.
MVP's death, even for a brand new character it still took me by surprise

And the other comes from Buffy #2

Remember the 198? Remember X-Men: Civil War?
This isn't angry fanboy speak...this is dismay at poor writing: It's that General Lazer bullshit all over again. Also...when writing a comic...make characters you can sympathize with...and if you do don't kill them off for a shitty plot device...namely the rebirth of the super soldier serum.

I think it has the potentiality for that, but I'm hoping they don't fuck it up. So I'm an optimist. Sue me.

Well finding characters I sympathize with wasnt hard for me.. because even if I wasnt already a Justice fan I'd keep reading just for Cloud 9 alone.

Look above. I'm just a little disappointed this is what everyone was dragged, kicking and screaming for. It's the logical progression and extension of CW, and for that I'm disappointed. A militaristic take on the X-Men is a good idea in theory...but don't expect this crap to hold my interest.

Edit: Bale...okay, you got me there. I can't help but sympathize with a character forced into a situation by fascist douches.

Gotta say, didn't overly enjoy the Initative. Maybe... just maybe... if there was one likeable character running the place... but frankly, the entire project seemed like Weapon X.

Edit: They even have their own Dr. Cornelius...

Plenty of things happened. It all just depends on your definition of "something happening".

It's the issue that comes after the first arc, and before the next. Thats it.

Yeah, that was a pretty bad printing error. The part where Hal is talking to Roy segues into the top page of the three page spread. Then you go back a page or two, then to the last page of the story.

This whole issue was really entertaining. I wasn't expecting much, but I love it. Haven't had a chance to read all of my books yet, but it's a tossup between Runaways and Hulk. Both issues were fantastic.

I thought The Initiative was great. I LOVED the art in it.
I will say that it's kinda hard to not see the whole organization as being evil however.

edit: IronFist gets best book of the week though. This thing has about 30lbs of awesome in a 20lb bag and I just can't get enough of it. They're totally exploring ways to make IF's powers more interesting (though I strongly believe crazy Kung-Fu glowy hand powers is cool enough). I especially love the dual pistol action. So great.
