Oh hey, lookie what came for me in the mail!
Along with Killing Joke, Black Mirror and Court of Owls. I've read all of those, but I felt they were worth buying. I'm super excited to dig into Batman Inc, though. It weighs like 10 pounds lol
Cullen Bunn's closing arc on Sinestro before the Convergence gap has been quietly very good. It's Sinestro going up against Mongul and Warworld with the Apex League thrown in for good measure while furthering the subplot about The Paling. With the exception of Soranik Natu, there are no other colored corps involved. The latest issue, #10, felt like a classic GL tale from the height of the Johns/Tomasi era.
Bunn even heavily references Sinestro and Mongul's last encounter when Mongul tried to usurp Sinestro's control of his corps and form the Mongul Corps. That was a running subplot from post-Sinestro Corps War all the way through Blackest Night. (Okay, there is some retconning here.. technically in pre-New 52 that was Mongul JUNIOR, but in the New 52 they've kept a lot of Mongul's history - just collapsed the two Monguls into one person, which is fine with me.)
Bunn is writing both Sinestro and the new Green Lantern: Lost Army post-Convergence. If he brings what he's doing in Sinestro to Lost Army then it will be a very good take on the universe, which makes up for Venditti's somewhat lackluster run on the main title continuing after Convergence.

Dudes.
Harley and peegee is fantastic.
Chief Wiggum: "Ladies, please. All our founding fathers, astronauts, and World Series heroes have been either drunk or on cocaine."
the lead on that link is insane... harley's book is the third highest book DC sells right now. Harlequin. What?!? I apparently have some back issues to chase....

Oh - I have all those - I was worried the mini series had started and I missed it! The folks in the Superhero thread at SE++ HATE HATE HATE the Harley solo series, but I really like it and the Powergirl issues are indeed absolutely wonderful. It's childish and juvenile at times, but for me it's in a good way. The artwork is great as well, and probably most vibrantly colored comic I read.

I thought that the master men issue of Multiversity was straightforward and easy to understand then I found out that it's a 36 page condensation of Wagner's the Ring cycle. I am not smart enough for Grant Morrison's comics and I kind of love it

Apparently the new Omega Men book is based on the premise that the Omega Men
kill "White Lantern Kyle Rayner" and now the universe wants them dead.
Booo if true, but solicitation reads like there's more to it than that. I don't particularly want to read Omega Men but I guess will have to if this is an ongoing plot point / revealed to be not as it seems

To be fair, it sounds like DC has kind of learned their lesson and will be having all the Lantern titles exist in separate spheres for awhile.
So I'll probably be passing on Omega Men, and maybe pick it up in trade later on.
Damn, I am more excited about the relaunch than I thought I'd be.
The parts of the DCU that I felt got flubbed in the original New 52 all seem to be in full force, specifically the Dark Universe, the Superman line, the tone of the Batman books, and the number of fun all-ages titles.
I need to figure out how I'm going to set up my pull. Hmm, I might also start buying some stuff day-and-date-digital as well to move away from long boxes.
I don't know if this is a product of loosening up continuity or Geoff Johns being stubborn, but it would appear that Darkseid War takes place before all of the June relaunch titles as it looks like all of the old costumes are still in use during Darkseid War

Yeah, uh. Mecha Batman is kinda not great. Unless that's 100% robot in there. Like a Batformer would get my vote.
Eh, it's alright. It has pants, and everybody wanted her to have pants, right?
yea, but I don't know if everybody wanted huge shoulder pads and wrist blades

I kinda dig it.
Remove her 90's Hawkman pointy stabby things that have a name I'm just too lazy to check, and say that's some kind of Kryptonian Under Armor (tm) Clark gave her, it works.
Although I can't help but feel the undersuit was added after the fact.

yea I agree, I can get into battle armor since she's an Amazon, but it's like the shoulder pads are the only real pieces of armor so they're kind of out of place. If it was just the 'kryponian' armor without the pads or the ridiculous gauntlets I would say it's the best costume she's had in a long time, it's sufficiently kirby-esque as well. But as it is, it looks pretty ridiculous
I wonder what that costume would look like, drawn by a different artist. It's kind of a weird, awkward drawing, but I feel like the costume wouldn't be terrible, drawn by someone other than Finch. The wrist blades are real dumb, though. And it has that same, "Hey, let's put a boring black skinsuit under this costume," thing going on, which I've previously moaned about.
I'd lose the jacket and wedge heels, but I dig the big, red area, rope belt, and chunky, messy ponytail. It's distinctive, simple, and still says "Wonder Woman," even in the absence of 90% of her traditional accoutrement. I'd say it makes the character look a little too young, but Batman's in a robo-bunny suit, and Superman's wearing bloody rags around his hands, so hey, whatever.
I like this Batgirl and Superman he did too, come to think of it.

That costume is overdesigned.
Remove the spikes. Remove either the crotch/buttflaps or remove the black body stocking. (If you remove the crotch/buttflaps, make the body stocking a different color). Remove the top shoulder pads (and don't put a star on the bottom ones).
DC Comics has canceled the planned Joker Batgirl variant cover at artist Rafael Albuquerque’s request according to CBR news and a statement released from both Albuquerque & DC Comics.
Though the image was supposed to be an homage to the classic “Killing Joke” storyline in which Joker’s origin is explored (and Batgirl is crippled and brutalized), but many were offended and critical of the violent imagery depicted in the image, especially in light of Batgirl’s current light-hearted direction. Albuquerque requested that the cover be canceled.
For me, it was just a creepy cover that brought up something from the character’s past that I was able to interpret artistically. But it has become clear, that for others, it touched a very important nerve. I respect these opinions and, despite whether the discussion is right or wrong, no opinion should be discredited.
My intention was never to hurt or upset anyone through my art. For that reason, I have recommended to DC that the variant cover be pulled. I’m incredibly pleased that DC Comics is listening to my concerns and will not be publishing the cover art in June as previously announced.
DC Comics also released a statement about the cover stating that they found it “inconsistent with the current tonality of the Batgirl books”.
Admittedly I mostly saw it as an homage, but I certainly respect DC & the artist’s decision to cancel the variant rather than offend a bunch of people.
It looks like he protected his account and is going on a twitter break. The tweet, from Cameron Stewart, was : "Something to clarify, because DCs statement was a little unclear. @rafaalbuquerque did not get threats. People OBJECTING to the cover did."
How shitty, man (for him, and Albuquerque and the whole team there). This weird misogynist cultural backlash we've been experiencing is way out of hand.

The cover to me was kind of meh, but having read The Killing Joke multiple times I never once got any rape vibe going, even with it being Alan Moore. I remember there have been a lot of homage covers to Killing Joke before and never heard of any backlash
What happens to Barbara in the Killing Joke is really gross and takes a character a lot of people love, and turns her into a victim in order to torture a character to help break another character. She's the means to the means to an end, and calling back to that story on an alternate cover to a series that is focused on a brand new, modern take on the character, is really gross to a lot of people.

yeah I can see that, Barbara getting shot and paralyzed was a massive event (and IMO led to some good stories with her as Oracle) and I can definitely see the misogyny in it, it was worse IMO than what Joker did to Jason Todd. I just don't get how people read into it that Joker raped her, or how the cover represents rape. The New 52 version of Barbara still incorporates that event as part of her character's backstory so it isn't like the brand new, modern take on the character doesn't include that, so I don't personally see a problem with addressing it in the current series since it really was a massive event in her backstory. I would love to see Barbara getting 'revenge'/'closure' against the Joker in some way or form, he really is one of if not the arch-enemy of her; I would at least like to see her beating the snot out of Joker after outwitting him. The latest creative team even made it a point to incorporate The Killing Joke into their arcs, so it isn't like it came out of nowhere and has nothing to do with the current take of the character

Everything else aside, that's a great cover in terms of showing a fear that has yet to be overcome in this reboot world (can't remember much of the Death of the Family tie-ins but she was freaked out there). It's a genuinely creepy cover that elaborates on the thing Kevin Maguire did years ago in that Batman Confidential arc where Joker is never more scary than when you can't see his whole face. As opposed to that Spider-Woman cover, this is drawing the right kind of emotion you want from a cover, it's really making you feel something one way or the other.

Man, Tiger and Bunny was a pure western superhero cartoon show in every way, just airing in Japan.
It even takes place in (Not-)Manhattan.

If they made it another color, maybe dark blue, and got rid of the extraneous lines it would look fine
