Solid month for me, honestly. I have a huge backlog from past PS+ (never started Metro, halfway through Remember Me, want to get back to Binary Domain...) and May is the start of hanging out outside and playing less games.
Really excited for Puppeteer and Limbo. Beat Limbo already on the XBox but will love a portable version.

I'm just happy the skullgirls folks are getting some money out of this presumably, they really seemed invested in it but had troubles right after it got released (dropped by the publisher or something like that).
Also this means new people might be online as quickly everyone who played it when it was realized was way to good for me to handle
You do not want to know the laundry list of problems that Lab Zero had with skullgirls. Many of us who's followed the game believe that the offices were built over an ancient indian burial ground, where some of king tut's loot was buried as well.

They wished for game making skills, but they used a monkey's paw to do so.
Pro Evolu... wait, what? *checks location* Yup. I'm in the US and this is the US update. Why is some crazy euro-fetish game in my free games list?
Yay, Limbo, I guess? I haven't played it since it launched on Live back in the day, so it'll be a pretty fresh experience for me. Not sure how much I care about anything else there. Surge, just because it was made by the guys and gals that did Velocity Ultra, and that game rules. Otherwise, meh.

It's not an "euro-fetish" game, dude, it's an "everywhere but the US fetish" thing.
And considering 55% of people in the US are hispanic these days...
I wouldn't call a soccer game a euro-fetish thing as it sounds disrespectful to me, but yeah, it's never going to be as big here as other places. We simply like games that have more action in them while plays are in effect. I understand why soccer is huge in the rest of the world. It's a simple game that doesn't require much equipment, but it's just never going to take off here. It's a waste of time to try.
I'll never understand why people want to try to force things where people don't want them. Just like the NFL with their games in Mexico and London every year.
Edit: Before somebody assuredly points out that football games have like 15 minutes of actual play per 3 hour game, we all already know that. I just meant more action while play is in action. Every 15 second long NFL play has more excitement in it than any part of a soccer match, at least to me and my fellow Americans.

I'm already convinced that getting PS+ is the smart option. But I just ...
I think I'm too set in my ways.
I signed up for PS+ almost six months ago today, and here's a list of all the PS3 games I've picked up from it:
Batman: Arkham City
Binary Domain
BioShock Infinite
BIT.TRIP Runner 2: Legend of Future Alien
Borderlands 2
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse (remake & Genesis versions)
DmC: Devil May Cry
Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
Dyad
Galaga Legions DX
Grid 2
Hotline Miami
ibb & obb
Ico HD
Jet Set Radio HD
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
LiitleBigPlanet Karting
Lone Survivor: Director's Cut
Metro: Last Light
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee HD
Payday 2
Poker Night 2
Remember Me
Shadow of the Colossus HD
Stealth Inc.: A Clone in the Dark
Thomas Was Alone
Tomb Raider
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Zen Pinball 2: Star Wars Pinball
Just the combined cost of the four retail games on that list that I would've definitely bought on their own would add up to well over half the cost of a year's subscription, and there've been a few games that I really enjoyed that I probably wouldn't have ever even tried if I hadn't gotten them through PS+.
Hey, free Limbo. I'm pretty sure I missed it everytime it was on sale, so that's pretty cool by me! Did it ever get straightened out as to whether or not it's Cross-Buy? It feels like it was supposed to be, and then wasn't or vice versa.
I too would be surprised. In addition to the games potentially having different IDs and thus not registering as the same game to begin with, I also believe that saves are signed with your PSN account and there's no way to cross the memory card boundary.

Reason I ask is that I "imported" the NA version. (I.e. bought it ar a B&M store.)
Didn't think of it and then bought the DLC from the PAL PSN shop.
Only reason I thought it might work is that my save from my P4G NA (bought at the same B&M) works with my digital version of P4G that I bought off the PAL PSN shop.
It didn't even work for like 2 days, first you couldn't get past the title screen and then you couldn't even start a game. I managed to play a bunch last night though, so I guess it's working now.
It's kinda fun? There's not really much to it, it's still just a fighting game. You start a "quest" which just means fighting 3-5 enemies in a row, and at the end you get some loot. There's a whole RPG backing to it, with equipment and armor, and exp and crafting. In the end, it's still just fancy dressup to fight dudes.
The F2P aspects though are pretty goddamn blatant, and I reckon the second I hit the inevitable pay wall, I'll throw the game away, since I'm not a "whale". You have a pool of AP you spend to take on the quests, which are now costing around 8 points in a pool of 30. It regenerates like 1 point every 2 minutes. And if you run out... yup, you can totally buy a potion to restore it for money. If you die on fight 4 of 5, you don't get any exp or loot (and lose the AP spend, natch), unless you use a Continue ticket which... yup, you can totally buy for money. There's a store where you can buy chests of loot... for money. There's also some thing where if a friend uses your character online, you get enough friend points for a chest. So there's the whole Farmville bullshit of begging your friends to play with your stuff. And the real cherry on top is that despite the fact that I am earning in game gold, there doesn't seem to be anything to spend it on. Everything just wants your almighty credit card, so I don't know why they're giving me fun bucks.
I'm in a pit, and though I'm having some fun I can clearly see the spikes on the wall, knowing it's just a matter of time before they close in and try to impale me. So... yeah I guess that's this game in a nutshell.

It does not still work. I have a feeling the server is just overloaded, and the only time to really play is during the off hours.
I mean, the real draw for the game is getting to play pretty princess dressup with Ivy and Taki. Also, the gold is used in equipment fusion. So not really useful, but it's there.
We are especially excited to confirm the price of the game – Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will release on PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4 for $29.99 in the US, €24.99 in Europe and – approximately – £19.99 in the UK.
We’re also delighted to reveal that the game will be Cross Buy on PlayStation platforms, meaning that if you buy New ‘n’ Tasty from the PlayStation Store on one platform, you’ll also get the other two versions included. We’re also busily implementing Cross Save, so you’ll be able to take your progress from the PS3 and PS4 versions on the road (and vice versa) if you also have a Vita!
I was bummed to see that Muramasa didn't make the NA list. I only got part way through it on the Wii and lost all my Wii saves in a botched transfer to the Wii U, so it would have been nice to have a copy to play on a nicer screen. Did that version have a new localization?

Yeah and it's worlds better. Here's a comparison:

Honestly that doesn't really seem better, just unnecessarily more wordy.
I completely disagree. The first comes across very wooden, as if it were translated by Google Translate and then edited so it's grammatically correct. While the second actually has some personality put into the translation. It's fairly similar to what happened with FFT.

Ugh. Or, as one might say, in an act of substitution, and as I will, indeed, say: Alas, how unsatisfactory are they, those superfluously lofty pretensions which do drive the alteration.
Speaking as a professional, the first one probably took the original text and ran a bulldozer over all the personality, then bothered only with translating the information.
The second one seems to have made the effort of adapting the form and the content.
Whether that form is "good writing" or not is irrelevant. It's not the translator's job to edit.

I don't know where that other 39% came from...
Anyway, a bum month. The only bright spot is Muramasa likely coming stateside next month.
This is usually a good indication of "I wouldn't pay good money for any of these"
This is the worst Plus month I've seen
But I'm still pretty delighted with the service overall, everyone has bad times
