Pretty good month for me. Dust, Spelunky, and the D&D PS3 game are ones I'll actually play. It's been a fairly dry couple months for me so that's nice.
I've been wanting to try Rainbow Moon for the longest time but could never convince myself to pull the trigger so I'll try that, I guess.

Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite games. I played through it a few times on both Xbox 360 and PC. I might actually end up playing through it again on PS3. Aside from that, nothing much for me that I don't already own.
Yeah, I've already reached the point where I would drop ps plus for games, I usually want to play newer games as they're released. But, as I reach that decision, I now need to keep it for ps4 online. Ah well.
Lots of great stuff this month, but I do already have everything I want on pc. Those of you who managed to miss Batman, Spelunky, and Dust so far, holy crap you're in for a treat.
This is why PS+ rules, I would never have even given a cursory look at a game called "Pix The Cat" but as a World Champion™ Pac Man CE player I am now more interested than ever. Looks fantastic.

Has anyone played Natural Doctrine yet?
All I keep hearing is that it is impossibly hard which isn't appealing to me at all but I am just so JRPG/SRPG hungry
If anyone got into the Crew beta today, does your code work? Apparently a lot of people are having issues with errors on the beta code, myself included.

There is a great write up in the Vita thread a page or two back.

Yeah my code is broken. What do we do?
They fixed it today. Try redeeming yours now and it should work. I was able to redeem mine a couple of hours ago and kick off the download. I'm hoping everything is downloaded, installed and ready to race when I get home after work.

I wrote that post, and a couple other people weighed in as well, who I'd probably listen to more since I put the game down after that to get back at Akiba's Trip and Danganronpa 2 and now I'm playing Ultimax all night. They're probably farther and have engaged more with it. Either way, though, it's not really impossibly hard, just... unforgiving. The game is built in a way that if you screw up or get too comfortable or assume the worst couldn't happen, it'll probably punish you for it. Turns are very deliberate.
Edit: the gameplay is very well done, though, for what it is, you just have to enjoy a game that probably actually hates you, and want to break it over your knee in defiance.
If you're JRPG hungry you might also want to check out Pier Solar. I have heard good things but it sounds like you have to be on board with its retro aesthetics and sensibilities.

I'm playing Pier Solar right now. It's not bad... I like the way it portrays the friendship between the three main characters, but it definitely skews old-school. Just finished a dungeon in which puzzle solutions were hidden behind pillars with no clues whatsoever that you should look behind said pillars for switches that you cannot see.
Want to find me on a gaming service? I'm SwashbucklerXX everywhere.
On the other hand, the allure of the game dimmed significantly once Dragon's Crown came into being.
I own both, and I kinda disagree. Of course DC is super awesome and polished, but the Mystara games are still amazing, and the multiple paths are very fun.
We just got a used slim PS3 as our new Blu-Ray player and I've been trying to set it up literally all day long
This part is not the problem, just the setup: It didn't connect via HDMI at first, so I connected with the included RCA cables to try and get HDMI output set up, at which point I finally got video. To be on the safe side, I had the console reset to system defaults. That was my mistake.
Now the console refuses to sync my controller, and I'm stuck on the initial setup "connect a controller using a USB cable and then press PS button" screen and have been for...5 hours?
I've hit the secret reset button on the controller a dozen times and nothing changes, I've turned the console off as many different ways that you can turn it off
I'm going to lose my mind if I have to mess with this for much longer
If the controller has been used on multiple machines, you may need to hold in the "secret reset" button on the controller (with a paper clip or something) for 30 seconds. Just pushing it for a brief moment only power cycles the controller and doesn't really wipe it.
If you hold down the power button while powering on the system and wait for a second set of beeps after the first beep, it will enter "video reset" mode, where it will automatically detect HDMI. It tries the component/composite connection first, then switches to HDMI next when it doesn't get any controller input for 30 seconds.
I believe if you keep holding the power button on the console down EVEN LONGER it goes into the weird 'debug' menu with all sorts of useful commands. I fiddled with that a lot when replacing my hard drive. Maybe it will see your controller then, in the super safe mode?

Don't you have to plug the controller into the console as if you were charging it to sync it to any new system you wanna use it on? Or am I thinking of a different system entirely? I feel like I've had to do this to make my controllers work on my brothers system.
Well now HDMI works, but the controller still isn't syncing even when I hold the button down for 45 seconds
The controller absolutely is not broken and neither is the cable
I JUST used it earlier today to get myself into this entire nightmare
Have you only got the one controller? I'm pretty sure something similar happened to me when I took one of my controllers over to a friends place but since it refused to sync, I just used the other one I had.
Since we're talking technical issues in here anyways, anyone else here have any issues with loud optical drives on the PS4? Mine was pretty loud, so I sent it off for warranty. Looks like they replaced it with a refurb that's louder than the one I sent in.
I feel like mine isn't quiet, but it definitely is more quiet than the PS3 I had. That thing is pretty loud. Plus I'm usually pretty close to it. So that may be why I'm hearing it.
Yeah, aside from the optical drive spinning down, my PS4 is essentially silent from a short distance, but I have only really been using it for media apps while I play Vita so I may not have stressed it as much as a lot of people.

Mine is normally quiet but it did get loud once after a marathon Destiny session. I moved it into somewhere with more airflow and it's been silent ever since.

I find that when a game is loading on the main PS4 menu, and installing, it is super loud, but otherwise the system is pretty quiet. (Even reading off of blu-ray movies is super quiet). I suspect it has something to do with dual layered access or something). It's really annoying; I get the impression that they went with a much cheaper/louder blu-ray drive this time around since most (all?) games will be installing and running off of the hard drive.
Turns out the cable that connects the DS3 to the PS3 was dead
It was able to sync before because it's a used console and the controller was already paired, once I set it to system defaults it lost the pairing and the cable didn't work
Was going to grab Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance cuz it was on sale for 9.99, but I saw it was only 8 bucks on amazon so ordered it from there instead. It will probably get here before it would have been finished downloading anyway :P
To all the PS4 folks, does it still take days to download bigger games?
