Using the same technique I used to beat the dragons.
Ninja. Utsusemi. And the Ninja passives that make it so you get a ATK buff and counterattack when you dodge. I had to equip speed +20% and Hermes Shoes to outspeed him, but I did it, damnit. Sorta. Feels a bit lame.
The whole dungeon makes me think that I'm not supposed to be in there this chapter or something. Although the dogs ... I think they're a way to check to make sure you're actually using Magic instead of Physical all the time, heh.
That boss is meant to be engaged in the 65-70 range. If you cheese the piss out of him before that, I consider it fair game.
Also the Templar trivializes him pretty good.
Really? 65-70?
I didn't use the Ninja cheese but I certainly recall having a fairly simple time taking him out at 53... So much so that I can't even remember the fight...
Yeah, the Templar ability to shield everyone would have definitely helped.
I'm not sure I like this game's Blue Mage equivalent. I'm not really falling in love with these abilities, ya know?
Sorry, horrible pun. My real problem is Tiz is my Ninja / Thief and now he's a Dual Wielding Vampire / Thief. I need a second subjob slot. :P
Ninja/Vampire (or vice versa if you're skill hunting I guess), equip him with a Mug dagger to use as an item until you've stolen what you need. Problem solved! (I do not know why I don't do this other than the fact that I am lazy and dislike navigating menus.)
Unless you're using Godspeed Strike, in which case I can't help you :P
Hm. Spend 100k on one of the Nordene weapons, or save up 200k for the double Money / 0 XP / JP item for faster grinding afterwards...
Although in theory I could just steal from Nemesesi for items to sell...
If you can beat the Cerberi in DeRosso's castle you're good for like, the next two chapters. You'll get weapons almost as good as the Norende ones in Chapter 6, so I'd save for the Growth Egg. The Golden Egg doesn't stack with the Merchant's ability and doesn't have any impact on the Big Pharma trick people have been mentioning in this thread.
The Golden Egg doesn't stack with the Merchant's ability
I believe it does, no matter what the text says. IIRC the text is exactly backwards, More Money doesn't stack on multiple characters and it does stack with Golden Egg.

Yes, the text on both items are wrong, because the growth egg absolutely stacks with the freelancer JP up skill, no matter what the description says.
Continued to meet the high benchmark set by Yulyana's quest in chapter 6. The game seems to have finally found an appropriate tone, instead of ridiculously bleak nonsense with children murdering one another and the party killing everyone. Shame about those first two worlds where we fucked everything up! Slipped up a little on the sexism front again with Artemicia's man power comment though.
Do the stat boosts from the Buns carry over into NG+ by default, or do I need to carry over levels? If I want to be low level but SWOLE, do I need to just hoard buns and then carry them over?
The problem of a "girl power" conversation notwithstanding
Victoria trying to facilitate conversation between two people even crazier than her is one of my favorite moments in the game. "Does... does anyone want some candy?" is an absolutely perfect line reading

It most certainly does. I'm getting 6k a fight where I'm grinding now, that's 2x 3k.

Hmm...regarding ending spoilers (just started Chapter 7 but I want to be clear on this):
So...for the true ending I just don't break any crystal at all right?
Yeah. It's not that confusing.
There are 2 endings. To get one, break any crystal. To get the other, keep playing the game and visiting those exclamation bubbles, advancing the story.
Note that you can get some extra scenes in the crystal-breaking ending depending on how far you are when you do it. Nothing major, just some more flashbacks to conversations with Yulyana and such.
I just bought this from the eShop. I did not realize it was so large. LBW is like 5000 blocks, and this is 26,500. That's almost the entire 4GB card the 3DS comes with, and I'd have to delete LBW. I have to admit, if I had realized that I might have actually gotten the physical copy.
I'm finding a lot of conflicting reports online - is it possible to save games from an SD card onto my computer? When I want to play LBW again I don't mind copying it from my computer to an SD card, but if I have to download it via the eShop I probably wouldn't even bother.

I don't know if this has been answered, and I'm not searching through threads manually to find an answer; but do levels have any actual affect on the game?
Like, do the characters get more HP from levels? I know job levels affect the characters tremendously, but I don't know what levels do other than keep track of how much grinding you've done.

Of course, all of your stats increase when you level up.

It's both. I don't know exactly which has a greater effect on what stat and what the exactly calucations are or whatever but both are definitely important.

Vampires are extremely flexible. It does take a while for them to get up to speed though due to needing both monster abilities and their job level abilities.
The big ones so far IMO are White Wind for powerful party heals, Fireball to bypass physical defense (assuming enemy is not immune to fire), blood thirst (free drain attack), and later on absorb stats (for buffing physical attack at the expense of the boss's). They're much more physically oriented so they're more like a spell fencer that can also heal and debuff without setup.
vampire mages are pretty potent later on as well. it's like what red mage should have been
Yeah. Well, Red Mage really isn't supposed to have powerful magic, I think they ended up having a pretty interesting role in this game as essentially fast mages due to all the BP regaining stuff, with some reasonable equipment options.
Vampire is like a super Red Mage in some ways. I love the -ja spells.
What the heck is a Venture Badge for anyway? I.e., what's "Brave Attack"?
The thief's Raid ability brief description says "Raise BP upon First Strike or Brave Attack" and the detailed description says "Raise all allies' BP by one when the party gets first strike or gains a +1 BP bonus at the start of battle."
So it's the rate of getting a bonus at the start of battle. Which means it's pretty unhelpful IMO. And dexterity is half dedicated to it, making it probably the least useful stat in the game.
Ok...do Dark Swords attack gain the Elemental Properties of Sword Magic? I mean, if you cast Holy Sword does it stop being a Dark Attack? Also, how do you raise Black/Dark Bane damage? Through P. Attack or M. Attack?

Nope, Dark Bane et al always do Dark damage. It's all physical attack. My current set up is Dark Knight/Salve maker, in case I run into something with an immunity.

My end-game Vampire/Spell Fencer can hit 9999s with Gastro Acid.
A 20 mana physical aoe that hits for 9999 and applies a -25% P.Def debuff? Yes please.

And yeah Wyborn, it was a good scene overall, just brought down a little by that line.

Why not just buy a new SD card?
