OK, so... am I going to have to sit through that cinematic every time a new chapter starts?

I've been leveling up my glorious moon city every night but I'm still in the prologue because I don't want to start this for real until I beat Super Metroid. So, I had a question. I'm avoiding spoilers like the plague because I enjoyed the plot of Bravely Default so much but I don't want to have to do ng+ because I have a lot of games to play. So, in the sidequests, you pick between two jobs is my understanding. But you don't actually miss anything because you can just pick the other job in ng+. But how exactly does that work? Am I going to finish the story completely and then run through it again, or is it a halfway through kind of thing like how the plot sort-of reset after you fight Braev Lee in default? Essentially, what I'm asking is what's the trigger to do that, is it something I can miss before I beat the final boss, or is it a clear and obvious prompt?

There's really no spoiler-free way to answer this, but I'll try to not give away any specifics:
Just keep playing, you'll see how it works. You can't really miss it.

I just finished the prologue and WTF.
You were my brothers in arms. We cleared the demo together! How could you do me like that?

That twist really really hit hard because I played the demo.

Also feel free to add me, 2938-6074-2306. Just @ me to let me know.

No, I understand that's an option. I'm just wondering if it plays for every chapter break like this was supposed to be an episodic release or some nonsense.

well it is my opinion that chapter 4-5 is complete garbage and I never would have figured it out without being told and probably would have quit playing.
I forgot that bravely second in fights even exists. I have never, not even a single time, used it.

You would have figured it out eventually.
The "!" next to the new game+ option in the menu is a pretty clear sign that you're not just supposed to keep playing normally. Also, the adventurer straight up tells you "The courage to try again.." every time you talk to him in NG+.

I just got the Patissier asterisk. (What a tough fight) Dude. I have found my new gateway into breaking the game wide open.
Items For Everyone makes items or Patissier concoctions target the whole party. There are pastries that apply elemental weakness debuffs. The Red Mage's Recover BP skill is still around.

With enough pastry ingredients, I can make a Patissier into a BP engine nearly on par with Low Leverage My Hero Mimic.

With one job, and a one-slot support skill on all allies. It's nuts.

I'm thinking of it being a Catmancer/Patissier (or vice versa. Depends on whether I want Quigong Wind or Perfect Circle), with Critical Hitter, Glacé, Items for All, BP Recovery, and Waste Not.

The only trouble is whether or not I can make the rest of the party fast enough that the Patissier always goes last.

I can see how these sidequests could have been straight-up depressing in the original versions. Even the rewritten ones we got are still kind of "damned if you do, damned if you don't". I've been mostly selecting without caring which asterisk I get and some of these decisions have been damn tough.

Yeah, I've heard some of the later ones are real rough. I just got to the first one, between Red Mage and Thief, and that one seems pretty simple. I'm actually not particularly looking forward to some choices.

Meanwhile, I've made some good old days choices. However, it's not out of a dislike of progress, but because I don't trust the people extolling progress.
Like hell I'm gonna trust DeRosa with the proliferation of nuclear power, or Profiteur with the economic future of an entire continent. If the people want these advances, they'll happen, but I can't trust these scumbags.

I eventually got through it, thankfully. Now just to finish the demo and wait to get a full copy of hte game.

Likely no. Raise Mist will revive them at end of turn, so they'll start the turn alive. And if he undoes them again to kill them, Raise Mist will bring them back, and now they'll be in a state where they were Alice 1 turn ago.

The fight that's made of bubbles in the form of a bear is awful; it has an 85% chance to dodge everything.

On the one hand, Red Mage's "gain on e BP when receiving a status ailment" skill srl exists and is as ripe for shenanigans as ever.
On the other hand, I've heard people say that there is better stuff to steal than ever, and that Thief has some skills that work quite well for a physical attacker.

On the second side quest of chapter 3.
wow. They actually did it; they're just gonna pretend that Barbarossa wasn't a ghost when I last saw him. Kind of hilarious. So, either there's some time shenanigans going on in regards to the state of the world, or they just wanted more Jobmasters around.

Honestly, I'd have expected DeRosso before Barbarossa

So, Lucky Day says it boosts the success rate of status ailments, and job abilities with a chance of failure.

But it then says it has no effect on job abilities which have a percentage chance of triggering. Which seems kind of contradictory, or at least hard to determine which ones it's talking about. (unless it's talking about skills like Revenge or Waste Not, which you don't trigger on your own)

So, my question is this; is there a list of which abilities, passive skills, and other things that Lucky Day does work on? Also, does it stack with Status Ailment Amp?

Well. Beat the second sidequest in Chapter 3.
Praline was made hilariously easy because I now have Lucky Day, and am using a Catmancer/Patissier. First round, I put Praline's entire entourage to sleep, and spent the next 3 turns blinding them all and poisoning her. Hah!

In Chapter 3 myself. I wonder if there's something to be taken from the fact that
the location of the Great Chasm is completely MIA.
