I apparently should have levelled a DPS class first.
I got Tom-Tara Deepcroft in the random duty finder while levelling my archer. I actually got a commendation when we finished, and I'm almost certain it was from the tank.
As much as I like healing, I think I might have found my true calling.
It was probably me, there was an archer in my tam-tara group who was pretty helpful pulling stuff for me!
Eh, Titan's rotation is entirely scripted, so unless someone's having spiky lag, everything is simple to dodge. (sometimes you need a round to figure out your current latency, I've run back into bombs/landslide too early overestimating mine... oops) Even our Aussie we kind of drop towards the back so if she rubber bands she's only getting hit by one WotL.
To be fair to your point, after rewatching the solo heal vid, I've been misinterpreting our tanks being slow at taunting as BS RNG... Our tanks get to 4 stacks way too much, which is always fun considering we also have too many people still taking avoidable damage to the face. (They're getting better now that I've threatened to never heal it again if they don't!) It doesn't help that our tanks want to DPS and our other healers want to tank, so half the raid is off-class.
Yeah, when I tank Ifrit I try to get him after 2 stacks the first time, then just taunt when stacks fall. If you get him at two initially, you can pretty much roll the whole fight without getting up to 4 stacks ever. Sometimes he's a bastard and likes to just hit the other tank again, though.
So, are they really "random" or is it more of a pattern? Our one tank tank that doesn't decide to swap to DPS seems to think that they're sort of time based, like if he's had a single stack for too long then he'll get two rapid fire. It seems to be right-ish? But yeah, they still get four way roo much. I'll have them try the two-then-swap thing though, thanks!

I think that sometimes he'll rapid fire two, and even if you taunt in between, the other tank will still take the stack. That's not a big deal though, as it's only adding a couple seconds to the overall time to drop stacks, and you should be dropping them during racecars and whatnot.

It is a pattern, but the rapid fire one is part of it. I still haven't learned the full pattern yet though. I do know if you taunt after the first breath Ifrit does then the stacks line up nicely for the rest of the fight for the most part and the transitions are super smooth.
Ivence had the pattern down completely though so I'll ask him later unless anyone in here knows it.

Its better to swap at 3 stacks. You just need to snyc it up so every third incinerate will be followed a howl. Like delph said you swap after the first howl when you only have 1 stack at the very beginning. Then you swap at every 3rd which will have a howl at the end. This flows into nails and continues like that. To keep the pattern you need to tank swap right after room wide plumes. Then the tank that has ifrit after plumes keeps him through the next howl taht happens before racecars. You keep him there because the length of time for racecars allows the stacks to fall off. after Racecars finishes you continue on with the 3 stacks>howl>taunt bit until he's dead.
If you do it like this, during Nails the tank with ifrit will damn near always have fetters because of how and when your swapping. Also the tank that doesn't start the fight will typically always have the tank based eruption during nails phase, and that is something look out for.
When you do it like this the incinerates will always come out like 1 stack, longish pause and then double stack burst>howl>then swap. So your tank should be prepping cooldowns to coincide with this.
Sorry if this is a bit rambly, I saw the post and have like ten minutes before my next class. I can better explain/refine this later tonight if what I said is too unintelligible.
This is how I learned it from Ivence haha. I'm more knowledgeable with the role of the tank that goes second in terms of the nuance of the where and how the eruptions and such will occur, and how the fetters work during nails

So, @Axen, @Corehealer, I think I know why that monk bailed. People have been clearing the first room of Darkhold and then leaving the instance for quick exp since the first section up to the first boss goes pretty fast.
The monk had to eat a 30 min roulette lockout since we were going to continue. The bard we picked up was great though.
We figured it was because of the armor piece that he got. Was worth like 40-60k on the market.
But yeah, the bard was great.
A Capellan's favorite sheath for any blade is your back.
Regarding the PS4 version, was it just a crazed fever dream I had that there'd be some discount to buying it if you already own the PS3(or PC) version?
Little Heartbroken about Odin armor and the glamour system though: "As long as the base gear and the gear being copied occupy the same number of gear slots, you can copy the appearance of any gear equippable by your current class or job." Now I have to figure out a cute outfit for my tanks, maybe the Leopard Darkhold stuff.
"Wow, I'd say she just gained Sex Appeal +50!!! Wait, no... that's Dragon Quest VIII." Oh, you.
Disciples of War and Magic may also want to dust off their relic weapons if they aren't still using them, as an opportunity to unlock their true powers will present itself.
Does the game tell me to go get my Relic Weapon after finishing the Main Scenario quests or do I have to go find it myself? Pretty excited to come back at the end of March.

There's an NPC in Vesper Bay who sends you off to get your first relic after finishing the Main Scenario, yeah.

To be a bit more clear, the game does not tell you to go get your relic. You stumble across the NPC in Vesper Bay as an additional quest (that you can miss if you aren't picking them all up). After you do it once, additional relics quests are started in umm... I can't remember the zone. Yellow Serpent Gate and go north. That's where the original quest leads you any way.
The rest of the relic quests are started with Gerolt directly and then proceed as normal. If you've already completed one relic, you can just go to Coetheras and Eastern Thanalan to unlock Chimera and Hydra in the duty finder without being on the appropriate quest step.
I don't think Ishgard experiments on nature like the Amdapori did, so it's probably limited to their choice of buildings.
The interview also showed one of the bosses in the new Amdapor instance, but it's a bit of a spoiler, so don't click the spoiler tag if you don't want to see the image.
(on an added note, my patch release prediction was pretty close, I predicted it'd be released on the 24th.)
Welp, I know where Halloween is being hosted this virtual year.

On another note someone explain that glamour bit again? So does this mean I can vanity attach my reindeer or chocobo outfit? Or can you only glamour stuff 1:1, chest to chest..etc?

Correct.
I've decided to join the Garleans. Having running water and electricity beats pooping in buckets and dying of easily curable diseases at an early age.
So that's a point in their favor.
Reminds me of this:
I hope that too becomes a mount in the future.

It is but I don't think it's a mount. It's from the new Amdapor dungeon and most likely is a boss or enemy.
That whole dungeon looks creepy as hell and I love it

I hope it's a trash mob and Ampador Township is just full of creepy things like that to fit theme from the architecture in Ampador Keep.
I have a feeling the Ampadori were extremely Gothic in nature.
Ishgard's ancestors maybe?
