You'd be pretty limited in vanity options.
You misunderstand. Clearly you have not been subjected to the wrath of Odindeer, This change would have unleashed him fully upon the world, and SE understood this threat and took the appropriate steps to seal his power and hide it from the world.

I've been having a lot of fun healing as a WHM over the past few weeks, and I should hit 50 on it within the next few days.
I just finished up a Cutter's Cry daily roulette where the tank left a few pulls before the first boss possibly out of shame of after dying from two dodgeable 1-hit-kill attacks from trash mobs. However, I think we were better off without the tank because we finished the instance with only one wipe of the second boss as a WHM, MNK, and BRD. It took about an hour but it was a lot of fun and quite challenging. If I could have given both of the DPS marks I would have because they both did great and the BRD was a first timer to the dungeon.

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work with weapons.
They have the restrictions in place (only gear that your class/job can wear), and changing the model of a weapon isn't much different from changing the model of a piece of armor.

I think you always will have shoes on, though. So I don't think you'll be running around in bare feet. Even when you have nothing on, you have "shoes" on.
I can't tell you how excited I am for patch 2.2. That Lost City of Amdapor looks absolutely amazing.
Also ventures look very interesting. Kind of reminds me of sending your companions out on gathering missions in The Old Republic? Looks like you can gear up your Retainer ventures as well.
