Thanks Reddeye for power leveling me and a couple other cool bros, and thanks for the wizardy hand me downs. Now I gotta figure out what these paragons and such are all about.
_J_ Are you going to give the game a shot or does the lack of player economy ruin the game for you?
Downloading the patch. I'll give it a chance this weekend.
I am open to the possibility of it not being terrible.
I have to say that I wasn't expecting very much going in, so that helped when I was pleasantly surprised that it feels like a real game now.
I will say that I think it still isn't as good as PoE in some aspects, like if you really like number crunching. At least the largest glaring issue seems to have been fixed, that being item drops don't suck so badly now.
Feeling like a real game would be cool. I'm a bit skeptical about gearing...but we'll see what happens.
Still irked about the Auction House, though. And trading. My guess is that will be the thing to keep me on PoE.
Unless I happen to get exactly what I want after a reasonable amount of time.

After a couple nights of playing with my Monk, some thoughts (all good!):
-Cyclone's proc rate feels like it was upped. My screen is a field of lightning tornadoes!
-Unwelcome Disturbance for Serenity is incredibly good.
-The new Near Death Experience is very good. It's saved me a number of times, and the new passive effect when it's on cooldown makes staying alive after it pops much easier as well.
-I am addicted to the new Mantra of Healing + Chant of Resonance. I'm spamming a 25 spirit skill for a 10k shield.
-Seven Sided Strike is actually an orbital ion cannon now. Super good.
-Inner Sanctuary with Forbidden Palace might be the best skill Monks have right now. Holy crap is it good. If you haven't messed around with it yet, you owe it to yourself to try it.
I don't think it's possible to justify not having Seven-Sided Strike slotted right now. It does crazy damage to anything while making you invincible as well (iirc). My current preference is the cooldown rune, but I don't have monk to 60 - the final rune that makes it do AoE explosions each hit could be hilarious.

Having tried both, I definitely like Fulminating Onslaught (explosions) better right now. If you can get an elite pack onto a Forbidden Palace, nice and clustered, and drop that on them it's a truly stupendous amount of damage.

Get all enemies to you clumped up for aoe? Cyclone Strike.
So my highest character was a 57 WD. I was playing my lvl 19 Barb when one of my old friends logs on with his lvl 60 Barb. I jokingly tell him to powerlevel me. I had no idea it actually works in D3. I went from 19 to 60 in all of an hour on lvl 60 master, just hanging back. And I picked up a bunch of nice lvl 60 gear. Including a 2 handed axe with a crapton of lifesteal.
I thought D3 would have an anti powerleveling system like in WoW where if you are in a party with someone so much higher than you, you get next to no xp. I guess not.
Hotfixes to powerleveling are already in. My friends and I weren't doing the insane cursed chest runs, just doing the opening a few times to get each class into the 40-50 range. It happened mid run, hilariously enough. One zombie, guy levels up to 10, next zombie... nothing. Good exp, but relative to his level, not the 60. We were all one character short when the door slammed shut. We're not sore over it, we just found it funny how quickly it happened.

So this build is doing very well for me on T3, even with my highly mediocre gear. Forbidden Palace + SSS can deal 90% of an elite's pack health if they clump.
I really want to use forbidden palace (or really any of the inner sanctuary runes a lot of them look good) and SSS but I'm having way too much fun with exploding palm->essence burn and I've been taking a liking to earth ally on top of that. I need to mess around more but exploding palm is hilarious, just use it on some goon and blow him up so he blows up all his close friends, who continue to do the same until the entire area is clear of enemies and coated in blood.

The new Inner Sanctuary is my favorite skill of this patch. It's so very good.
Well. Facetanking Diablo is kind of hilarious. Santuary+SSS+Mantra of Healing gives so much invincibility/absorb that only his grab could ever harm me. Of course, my damage was maybe a tad lacking outside of SSS, though Sweeping Wind at full stacks helps a lot.
Need to play around with damage sources on monk - because I'm already laughing everything off. Once I finish leveling, that is. 52 after that Diablo (only Hard, though)
So, with the new difficulties, does my Hellish Staff of Herding suffice for all levels now, or is there something I need to do still?

I was also wonder how the new difficulties work with the Staff of Herding, the achievement mark thingys for beating the game on X difficulty. Also how do they work with champion/elite mods? In the old version, normal they had 1 mod, nightmare 2 mods, etc. I know if you start a fresh character on master, they only have 1 mod, but when do they get more?
So now I'm a Lightning Monk; Lashing Tail rune, Sweeping Wind, Fists of Thunder. Dual wielding means my spirit gen is way up over using a Skorn, so I broke my Inna's set for a crafted Archon chest with +14% Sweeping Wind damage and a new legendary belt. Pretty hilarious, if I'm honest with you
Oh, and I've gone from ~24k hp yesterday morning to 116k today.
Knocked the difficulty to hard for act 2, finshed at 42. I wonder if it's possible to hit 60 on a single playthrough now with some proper fiddling with difficulty, xp gear, and possibly some multiplayer.

Pretty sure it is. Playing on hard (can probably go up to Master now), @Kusmeroglu and I got almost to 18 just at the first sword piece. I wouldn't be surprised if we finished Act 1 close to 35 at this rate.
Mirror Image x 4 = Insanity. Signature spell is electrocute/lightning blast. Basically a DH's rapid fire - but piercing. Combined with familiar/cannoneer - destruction incarnate.

only thing is mirror images won't cast channeled spells
Had a good time last night powerleveling Encifer, magic, and Hedge to 60. It's crazy how fast you can level people right now. Encifer literally gained three levels in the first ten minutes, it was nuts.
Had a Fulminator drop that synergies perfectly with my current lightning wizard build. Amazing stuff.

enjoying monk as a first, got a rabid strike which was sad because I wanted jawbreaker
If you want to power level someone get them into a Torment game. I was on a level 3 Wizard mule to try and get a Wizard legendary off the Skeleton King, and by the time he died I was level 54. Granted we couldn't find the damn exits to get to him so cleared the levels mostly, but still. It's also funny when you die to a kick to the face from a skeleton.

It does but you have to beat diablo again in order to reset.
