Some of the new legendary effects are wild. I had Sebor's Nightmare belt in the PTR on my barb. It would launch Haunt on 5 nearby enemies whenever you opened a container. It was like the scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark over and over again.
I had a level 52 Monk in Act 1 Hell difficulty before I took a break.
Coming back now - what's the equivalent difficulty?
I love that I can skip acts now. Hated act 2- desert levels AND sewer levels? Ug.
While I know it's not a monk, but I had taken a break with my demon hunter at around level 39 (+/- 2) with middling gear that I collected from the AH. I went back to her the other day and started off at normal and found it WAY too easy. Upped the difficulty to Hard, and it was still a walk in the park. Expert gave the right level of challenge and speed of killing things. It should also be noted that by the end of act 1, I went from around 20k hp to 90k, damage went from around 800 to around 26k, and level 39 (+/- 2) to 56.
Oh, and picked up a legendary shoulder that negates durability loss on ALL items (and has dex/vit/resist all).

Probably, though most HC deaths occur from lagspikes and DCs. There's a consumable ring that gives a free revive upon death. Still need to have good damage mitigation though to survive the 10-20 second DC.
I'm guessing they nerfed pickup radius stats on items?
They did a while back. I think everything but Thing From The Deep (the WD mojo with 20yard radius as guaranteed perk) took a massive hit.
The reason they gave was health orbs. Since life steal is no longer in the game at 70 they wanted you to have control over picking the orbs up as needed versus just grabbing them instantly.
Well after leveling up 2 characters to 60 and not seeing a single dolburn legendary, last night i logged in with my 47th level mage and found 2 legendaries.
I'm liking the patch so far.
One of the legendaries is neat...its an amulet that summons 2 shadow clones of myself when i stun a creature. Since i was playing an electrocute/lightning blast / distintegrate build it was going off all the time. The stats on drops seem much more tailored to your current class as well (not 100% of the time but a lot of the drops were int/vit based).
Gained 4 levels pretty quickly too was in hard difficulty.
I have to go echo what's been stated already about Monks being awesome now. The Dashing Strike change alone opens up so many builds since I don't have to rely on FoT to engage monsters (also pretty awesome that FoT has the teleport base now, instead of just Thunderclap).
Right now I'm using CW with Rising Tide, Cyclone Strike with Implosion, Forbidden Palace, Cyclone Sweeping Winds (I tornados), Dashing Strike with Barrage and Mantra of Conviction with Intimidation. Basically, I dash into a group of mobs and pull them into me, cast Forbidden Palace and spam the active on Conviction. When they're dead I just jump into the next group.
I did this in a group with a buddy's Wizard and he's just lay down a Blizzard and lob lightning orbs into my zone of doom. Shit exploded so hard.

Forbidden Palace really is just sexy. I swapped Breath of Heaven out for it last night and it's just so, so good.
I really like Mangle for CW, it's a big damage boost.
Or exploring builds to complement a specific item. For example, I found this legendary neck that spawns 2 ghost shades of yourself every time you stun an enemy. Cue me thumbing through every spell and rune to see what stuns a witch doctor has access to. Sadly I just don't have a reliable go-to stun move to truly take advantage of it. It will proc off a gargantuan's stun, so it's a nice bonus that pops every now and then.
I saw that item drop for you
I am SOOOO Freaking jealous of that item you have no idea. I would love to use it on Seven Sided Strike for perma shadow clones.

So if anyone was curious, starting a new character and cranking it up to master is very hard, but doable. Ended up hitting level 30, and getting 6 legendary drops by the end of Act 1.

That's good to hear, as I was planning to do that with the Crusader I'm going to roll when the expansion hits.

Seriously, he kept talking about it.
I mentioned it once and then you called my mom a shadow clone, which she isn't. And even if she was so what? Are you racist against shadow clones or something?

I seem to remember someone saying how awesome it would be if they were actually a shadow clone, so don't even start that shit.

So I'm slightly conflicted about the showing of Legendary items in clan chat... I actually like seeing cool stuff that dropped for other clan members. However its kinda like: look at this cool item that dropped that you can never have because trading is not allowed. I really wish they'd do something like allow the item to be traded to clan members for a limited time before being account bound.

Aside from a, "Wow, neat." I don't know what reaction you would be expecting from the clan.

See though if you could trade it among all clan members it would be so much nicer and serve more of a purpose than a novelty.

I like that it displays it even though you can't trade

We've had this debate a million times, but basically to sum it up in a nutshell, all trading features fall in a spectrum between "100% self-found" and "AH Tycoon". Adding a little bit more trading pushes the dial a little bit more away from self-found, which has its pros and cons. It begs the question, is receiving free loot from clan members as fun as finding it yourself? Blizzard thinks it isn't, so they went all in on BoA.
I was playing and hoping for something that would boost lightning damage, and within 10 minutes of talking about it, a legendary hammer with lighting bonus pops on the ground. The patch is nice.

Are you my clone? I'm a lightning monk, since I found the legendary Fist with 25% increased lightning damage from skills.

Why Beacon of Ytar? Reducing Forbidden Palace is nice, but it seems like surely there's a better option since you have only one cooldown.

I'm still tweaking I was running seven sided strike, but I had just swapped it with the lashing tail kick. So now I may take beacon, for something that regens more spirit so I can spam tail kick even more
