Surely they will decide on an amount after the kickstarter is over.
Also, if you look on the comments on the kickstarter page, they mention 'some' of the merch might go on sale separately afterwards depending on demand, so maybe pin is buyable in the future...
@Ayefkay I ask him about that above. He said IF they had extras they would be given out at East, but they aren't expecting many. If they are planning on giving any extras(since the KS would be over) at East they would have already had these ordered I'm sure as they can't get them into production that fast I'm assuming if not.
So as far as the pin being buyable, according to what they told me yesterday, it will not be after the KS.
To me it seems some pins are worthy of their own topic because for me, it gets a little muddy if you miss a pin announcement and then try to wade through tonnes of interweaving posts looking for quick answers. Especially if two pins were announced both with a large amount of hype.
I thereby propose separate threads (I think this board could handle it) for pins with unique attributes or are LEs, i.e. Must get through Kickstarter. Top post can be link to Kickstarter and picture then discussion below on design, tier pricing etc.
At the moment it might seem like it's spreading it a little thin but I think for future planning, it's going to be nicer for archival reference than "page X of restarted Community Thread Y". Maybe we can even get brand new announcements stickied for the first 48-72hrs, so it's even more obvious some big news just dropped.
Yeah I think given that this is a section completely dedicated to pins, it's not exactly weird to have a thread for each "release". So a thread for a set, or a thread for all the killer instinct (which we already have). We usually don't have all encompassing threads like this one. It could just be made "non-specific pin news"
If anything, a new thread just to announce a pin release or newly discovered pin/kickstarter and then talk about it here. I expressed my concern before, now im kind of worried about missing something, so having announcement threads might be a good idea.

It seems to me that PA just needs to update the Pinny Arcade website, and not days or weeks later. If it's supposed to be the place to go for all Pinny information it should have up to date information on all release in a timely manner...at a minimum.
I'd definitely like to see the Pinny Arcade dedicated site updated more frequently. I know the news of the east set and the PAX anniversary pin came from there, but that's where we should be hearing about things like the Table Titans kickstarter. I'm a little worried that there are wild pins out there that nobody has stumbled upon.
"Sometimes I doubt your commitment to 'Sparkle Motion'."
Yeah we were scaling back the pinnypals blog because of the official page (redundant info) but maybe if they're not really planning to update cutting edge, it might be best to bring it back with a few of you keen bean members helping out as editors
PM if interested in making the breaking news posts, multiple people will be accepted to cover timezones etc
"Meet Mike and Jerry and the rest of the Penny Arcade staff for a Pinny Arcade Pin trading extravaganza!! Bring your best pins for some awesome exclusives." (emphasis mine)
This sounds amazing!! Must. Know. More.
Also, can some grab some photos and video of the event? That'd be great for the site. Some audio for the podcast, maybe?
So you can win stuff? Is it just a bunch of people trading with staff? Is it a big room free for all or is there a line for each staff?
Well Benaroya initially was...debacle is a little too strong. Furore? Basically most of the PA staff gathered there, and there was no queue, just a Swarm of Brain Squirrels all trying to trade at once with them. Slowly the Enforcers hammered out a line, and from there it was more like one of those lines at a wedding where you get to say hi to everyone for a minute and then move down. Don't get me wrong, it was fun. Just not much organised.
I think someone posted pictures of the initial process from the balcony. You can see Mike, Kristen and I think Khoo in the centre of the pack, possibly Erika too.
I would imagine an Official Event would come with more organisation, so at least an orderly line from the off. That "Bring your best Pins for some awesome exclusives" is intriguing. I will ask Mike tonight what that might entail.

Well, this marks the second time that I purposely pass on a pin. First the KI set, now the Bard pin. This time money isn't the deciding factor at least.
New KI pins up for preorder in the store. They ship around April 4th.
I wish the store discount for club members was out. I would like to stock up on some starter sets to trade with at East.
The store discount is available! You should have received a coupon code in an e-mail titled "Club PA Perks - Merch Discount" shortly after you subscribed

Ok, I managed to get about 5-10 minutes at the end of the evening for a Pinquisition, and the first question was:
Can we get the 2 Pin trade limit and Merch booth purchase limit upped to 3 to facilitate the Pin Pal system? Mike agreed with the idea, since having a Pin Pal miss out or causing someone to queue up twice wouldn't be great. He just doesn't know if he can get consensus from the others on it, particularly when it means the already scarce Pins would go quicker.
Kenneth won't have his Staff Head until PAX Prime. He will then be at Australia, and PAX East 2015. Jamie says he is super easy to find, so feel free to Swarm him. Use this PAX East for practice, why not?
No more Staff Heads are being made, so we shouldn't see any 2014 variants of the previous ones. What this means for collecting at PAX Aus I don't know. Organise your Pin Pal groups accordingly. (Don't have one? Talk to @Manic2k )
What is the minimum production run size on Pins? Mike says he thinks it is about 300 for in-house, and for others such as Sony it is 1,000. I followed up asking about the tiers, etc. of the runs, if it is just to the nearest hundred or there are things like 500, 750, 1,000, 1,250. That is more of a business question which needs to go in depth to Brian. Things like this were on the FAQ, but I didn't make them public questions since I don't know how many others care about stuff like this.
The one thing that Mike seems to have gotten is that we would like more transparency in the system. For example, for those who care about year variants knowing when/if a batch of 2014 Cores is done will matter a lot. For everyone else, knowing the total number of each Pin produced matters because the relative rarity will affect trading decisions. Hopefully this means we will get some numbers to put on the Pinnypals site.
Thornwatch news, the game is awesome. It went through a recent revision and the Brierlock broke. Apparently under the new system he was just plinking enemies off the board, so the playtest just had the Warrior, Blade, Greenheart and Sage. Were I betting man, I would expect that to be one of the first Pin Sets related to the game.
PAX East Pins are going to be revealed this Friday. Start your anticipation now.
Just a quick sanity check for those who like me have texts alerts on the PAX_Official twitter and maybe had a heart attack when the PAX Dev tickets went on sale: PAX Prime tickets aren't going on sale until after East.
Alright, after listening to the podcasts, I clearly need to join a group. I'm at hardcore level (without a DLC but ok with that) and will be attending both PAX East and Prime. Looking for and Aus brother/sister! I will definitely be picking up multiple 10th PAX anni pins, and have plenty of spare 2013 Prime pins!

I've dealt with ordering custom items similar to pins. Generally the minimum order can be very small, but the more you order the cheaper they become.

Yes, but the reason I mentioned tiers was because if the price brackets are X for 300-499 and then X-[tinybit] for 500-749, etc. then typically people will do runs at the 300, 500 and 750 points.
Good stuff Pedro, lots of useful information there, especially the reveal on Friday I was eagerly awaiting that news to make the updates in time for PAX haha
obviously the final decision.is up.to individual.groups but has anyone discussed the fact there may not be limited editions for Aus and Prime?
for instance, I NEEED the east limited.
NEEEEEEED!
but I'm aware I may not be able to reciprocate the trade until another local limited becomes available.
I do keep a record of all my trades and my pin banks with other pin pals, if a pin pal prefers a one to one trade for a limited edition, more than happy to help.
I would prefer to trade a limited for a limited. however I think I will try to arrange an equivalent exchange if I can offer a limited trade in a reasonable amount of time.
it may be years untill Aus gets a local limited (5years aniversary?)
I don't think I'd be comfortable waiting another 4 years to square a trade
