Another is that the planned title that goes with the Pin may be delayed or cancelled. Games get pushed back or just canned and nobody wants to have a collective memento of a failed attempt at a product.
It would be nice if we got a little more lead time, because discussing the Pins is a good part of the pre-PAX rituals at this point (along with poring over the panel schedule wishing you had a way to be in three places at once, and planning your route from the now-defunct Queue Room into the Expo Hall so you can glom onto your favourite booth and be first in line) but they need to be certain that what they post is true (at least as far as they can.)
