Very. Especially at a discounted price. Contains the regular light gun game and the updated typing game too, so you're getting two games in one! (You're not really but shhhhh, its still a mad deal)
So Fallout 3/New Vegas. If I play New Vegas without playing 3, is that a bad thing? Will I be missing huge parts of story?
And if I never have touched a Fallout game before, is that detrimental to my enjoyment as well?
The stories are unconnected (other than existing in the same world.) I loved 3, although I have to acknowledge part of that was just the ability to stomp around my town post apocalypse. NV added refinements to the first-person Fallout formula that 3 introduced, so if you plan to play them both you might want to start with 3. And you'll miss lots of little references to the older games here and there. But all of the games are a good introduction to the world and backstory.
Mostly it's fine to start with New Vegas which is a treat to play.
The stories in them are largely unconnected. You'll miss a reference here or there but it won't ruin anything. That's sort of Bethesda's RPG MO. Same universes, but separated by large enough chunks of distance or time to tell mostly stand alone stories.
My wife isn't a gamer but occasionally I'll talk to her about games if I find something especially interesting. So I was nearing the end of L.A. Noire when I decided to tell her about a particular plot twist. Suddenly she got super mad at me and I couldn't figure out why. Then I realized the time of year. The moral of the story: don't buy yourself a video game two weeks before christmas, especially when your birthday is on christmas eve.

Story wise, the two modern Fallouts are pretty much totally unconnected. Both include occasional references to the older games. The plotting and dialog is much, much better in New Vegas. NV definitely feels more like the old Fallout, humor wise. As for mechanics, they're almost exactly the same with just some minor QOL tweaks in NV that make it a more pleasant to play.
I will add that Fallout 3 has maybe he best piece of DLC ever, Point Lookout. You know, and Liam Neeson.
Everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
I was going to buy Towerfall - then I found the Gamefly sale and ended up buying Injustice and SR4 for $25 total. I really should still buy Towerfall though - I think me and the kid could have a ton of fun with it. Maybe next paycheck I'll grab it. How is the single player stuff they added?

Excellent. I look forward to starting NV soon then. As I don't own F3, I'll just skip it for now. Thanks!

I've read that, and while I agree that you shouldn't blame the dev for not wanting online play in their vision, it still leaves me with no interest in the game. I'll never have 2 or more people sitting at my computer, but I would gladly put up with some lag to play online. Without online play, this game just has nothing for me.

F1 2013 is really good guys. Even if you're not a fan of formula one racing, you can still get many hours of fun out of it. Its one of the few racing games in the past few years that is genuinely deep and challenging. I suggest at least checking it out while its free for the weekend.
What annoyed me most about that article were the comments claiming that it was not a technical limitation or that the game makers should just put it in there because it's what "they" want.
And then I remembered never to read the comments and closed the tab and felt better instantly.
I am on 7 of 9 chapters of Dungeon Siege. That makes me very happy.

I wanted to thank @spoit and @viking for their excellent gifts on my 'halfway to being dead' day.

Much appreciate it to both of you cool cats. Thats what you youngsters say these days right? I'm still hip.

Nah, that would be the official NASCAR video game.

Yeaaaaah. In the single player levels, there are a few bits where a ton of enemies appear and there's some matrix style slow-mo to help you handle all the chaos. They could probably do playable multiplayer with that, but it definitely wouldn't be what people want.

The single player stuff is good. Think single player mode in smash bros, where it's a bunch of little training/challenge things. Fun, but not what you buy the game for.
There's quests and challenges. There are eight quest levels, each with two difficulties, (although I've seen references to a third difficulty, so maybe that unlocks). Not sure if more quest stages unlock. Quests can be done with one or two players. They take about five minutes to beat, but you're definitely going to spend a lot more than that per stage; it's tough even on the lowest difficulty. Stuff spawns in six waves, and you have to take everything out. Most of the baddies are simple critters with one or two tricks, but occasionally other archers spawn. I played for about an hour and completed three of the easy quests.
There are also 24 challenge stages (think break the targets in smash bros, but with ridiculously short time limits). They're pretty difficult. One player only. Not sure if more stages unlock there.

Surely you can't be calling a Nascar game boring. You get to turn left. And then left again. Then again...and again...and again...for hours...

For some reason I now want to play a NASCAR game with Derek Zoolander as a playable character.
Am I right in thinking that if I use an external kbam on my laptop there'd be less power for performance and games would be affected? I wanna hook it up to the monitor and user the pc kbam with it so it's essentially a mini pc bit no idea if there's any draw backs. Barely running games I want to play decently right now as it is.

Nope, using an external KBAM will have zero impact on system performance whatsoever. Using an external monitor could impact it slightly, depending on the resolution, and whether you're mirroring your built in monitor, or using it as a second display.

Is there a game that exists that is like the Quest Mode in Tobal No. 1? For those who don't have a clue what this might mean:
". . . combines the game's fighting controls with three-dimensional dungeon exploration. The player must advance down a number of floors, contend with traps, and engage in fights with a variety of enemies including the game's playable characters. Several items can be found, dropped by enemies, or bought using crystals. These items can be picked up, consumed, or thrown at enemies, and include foodstuffs that can restore the player's HP or potions that have a range of effects including raising the player's maximum health or bringing it down to 1 point. There is no way to save one's progress, and dying means starting over from the beginning. Defeating certain characters in this mode unlocks them as playable characters in the game's other modes." ~Wikipedia (is wonderful)
Basically, it was a 3D fighting game rogue-like with loot systems like Torchlight.
Edit: I asked this here mainly because I'd expect that if any platform had something this rad and this out of the ordinary, it would be Steam with it's voluminous amount of indie developers.

I'd be using it as the primary display with the laptop screen switched off. Resolution would be higher at 1080p as opposed to the 76something the laptop is at. This is getting me excited

@Pixelated Pixie you are gonna dig Conquest of Elysium. So much carnage. So much horror. It's not pink but I think it's still right up your alley. Mainly because of the carnage and horror. Pink and cupcakes are for after the carnage and horror anyways.

Doing 100% races can be a bit tedious but doing 10% or 20% races is a lot more fun and challenging. Requires a lot of mental concentration and lots of practice to pull off a proper fast lap.
Hitting those apexes at just the right speed and pulling it a fast lap is very satisfying.

Finding an open studio/one-bedroom apartment in San Diego is balls. Round, bouncy, red balls. Spent all day yesterday with no success and now I'll be spending all week making calls to the ones I found with offices closed on the weekend, or ones that claimed they were open on the weekend but decided they didn't want to be on that day.

As someone who has recently moved from San Diego to the Bay Area I feel your pain. Trying to find a studio/1 bedroom for under 1600 in an area that wont get me shot or robbed and wont result in the 1.5 hour commute I currently have is a fucking nightmare.

Tekken used to have that but not as good.
Damn. I also found out the sequel (only in Japan, of course) had a better Quest Mode, too. It just sounds like a really interesting game idea and I am sort of surprised no one has taken it and run with it.
