Much as I'm into this, I wish it wasn't just these two games. While a full collection comparable to Street Fighter 30th Anniversary or the Mega Man Legacy Collections would be nice, I'd even be a little happier if they just ported the PSP remake and, just for kicks/the hardcore, Dracula X from the Super NES as well.
Good games, but the offering here seems otherwise weak comparatively, though I'm sure I'll definitely be getting this anyway (I'm certain my wife will see to that).

Why on earth are they releasing their Castlevania: Requiem pack on Red Dead day? Way to guarantee that your game does not get played, Konami.
Probably because it's the same day that Season 2 of Castlevania releases on Netflix. And let's be honest, most of the people who are going to buy it are buying it "again" rather than the first time.

I wish they released this stuff earlier in October before I'm sick of Halloween shit.
Looked at it on the PSN store yesterday and it wouldn't let me pre-order.
If it won't let me buy it today with the discount, this is going to get left alone for a long time.
Fuck, they had soundtracks for like every game?? Argh, I didn't see that anywhere on that link! (edit: it's totally there. I misread it, plus I messed up the time they went on sale) Aside from the poster, the only thing that's sold out which I would have bought is the SCIV soundtrack. Damn.

Season 2 of Castlevania is up on Netflix right now.
Oh, I assumed this Rondo of Blood was going to be the remastered PSP version from the Dracula X Chronicles, but it’s the original version! That’s pretty good
Dracula X Chronicles also had the original Rondo in the collection. Why they just didn't clean up and port DXC so we could get the new Rondo as well I just do not know.

That would require a little more effort. The collection seems a bit barebones from what I am seeing.
And yet they seem to have ported at least the translation of the DXC version of Symphony.
I'm guessing it's emulation of the Vita code more than a port.
Yeah. Now that I say it, it did feel like the two classic games were entirely separate ROMs or whatever on the same disc (DXC had to do a lot of loading to boot up SOTN). So it's not as weird as I first thought to take the two classic games from DXC as their own thing.
I still would've liked a DXC port, tho. It was quite good.
A man isn't a miserable little pile of secrets anymore. I am disappoint.
Also, it's nice to have confirmation that I am bad at these games. I played each until I got a game over, I just barely made it past the first boss in each, then died horribly.
Rondo of Blood is good, but perhaps not deserving of its mythical status. Which mostly arose during the early days of the internet with news of "Look at this super awesome Castlevania game that's only available in Japan!".
It's still probably in the Top 5/Top 10 though.

Being the last (?) in the Classicvania style before Symphony rewrote how these games were built, I feel like it's a really nicely polished and well-made example of that gameplay style. It's hard for me to say which of the classicvanias were he best, but Rondo is up there.

I'll always defend the DXC script "Hah! Mankind. A cesspit of hatred and lies!", but the ability to choose a translation would've been neat. Guess they wouldn't do that for a straight port, though.

One of my favorite things about Rondo of Blood that's not apparent at first is there is a bit of exploration involved. It's the only Classicvania I can think of (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that has a stage select not hidden behind a cheat code which allows you to choose any level you've been to at the beginning of a session, and so you can easily explore levels and look for alternate exits.

Yeah, the new voice acting is good, but the original is good.

Neat poster.

I might be more interested in those other items, but that’s a slick poster.

This is inconvenient.
That was awesome!

I recall from the Giant Bomb quick look that the platinum trophy is named " A Miserable Little Pile of Secrets."

The soundtrack is pretty much Castlevania's Greatest Hits, which I'm totally into.
It's still probably in the Top 5/Top 10 though.

Alucard is voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, whose most recent work involved voicing some dorky schlub who got bit by a bug or spider or something.
That's the conundrum. The new script is well written and done by a cast of industry veterans. It is mechanically superior to the original. And yet...
I prefer it, but I agree with the Giant Bomb quicklook which said it would be nice if the language options were "English, Japanese, English (Dumb)".
