oh yeah it took me forever to go from 1 to 2, i really didn't like it. eventually you get used to it, and 1 is nearly unplayable when you go back to it.
3 plays the best, though.
I found the transition between 1 and 2 to be amazing. All the shite was suddenly stripped away.
Maybe the reason I didn't like 3 so much was that it wasn't another step change in quality. It was just more of the same, with a slight step back towards annoying inventory management (for the guns and their upgrades).
Homogeneous distribution of your varieties of amuse-gueule
I agree; I thought 2 was leaps above 1. I don't think 3 was a big leap from 2 mechanics-wise, but I really enjoyed the story telling for the vast majority of the game. The real thing I love about ME2 though: Thane.

To be honest, those matches with you were some of the most fun I've had in ME3 MP in a while, simply because it was so chaotic and fun. Runs with curly, while efficient, are fun only in the sense of I wonder how fast we can blow up a single spawn
and i tried to run support in our matches, dangit :P

Yar daddy needs his dakka. Now if only I could get a revenant clip size for the harrier then I would die a happy cow, but I suppose we can't have everything at all times. Like peace between organics and synthetics.
Something I forgot to talk about is how Kai Leng was a terrible character who really seemed out of place in ME. Like, his writing was straight out of a saturday morning cartoon for 10 year olds.

His AI got all fucked up when I had that stupid boss fight with him.
Moron got stuck on a piece of scenery, and couldn't take damage past his triggered "go hide" limit so I actually had to help him get free so I could continue beating the hell out of him.
It's like that bit in They Live, where Keith David gives Roddy Piper his hand, and then punches the hell out of him after picking him off the ground.
Except if Keith David proceeded to just swing on the bastard while he was stuck.
For like.
Fifteen minutes.
And then help him up.

That fight was just the worst. Between tech bursts, biotic explosions, and biotic fucking charge, Kai Leng spent maybe 2.3 seconds in TOTAL doing anything besides recharging his shields.
yet then the cutscene comes and Shepard's entire team suddenly forgets how to shoot their gun while Kai Leng literally strolls up to them and dickpunches
Yeah, you know... I didn't survive long enough in any single stretch in those gold missions to require replenishment of my ammunition. I am glad you had fun, but I feel worse than a narcoleptic epileptic with Parkinson's for having played that.
When my friends were dragging me around in gold and silver having just started, I found the easiest way to be useful, was grab one of the default human engineers, spec it for powers damage anywhere you have that option, then spec incinerate for AoE and recharge time, and overload for chain hits and recharge.
Then cackle madly as you run around and detonate everything.

Yeah when you're first starting out, don't expect weapons to do much for you. Choose a biotic or tech class and 'splode things. And yeah you'll die a lot at first, but you'll also be learning how not to die by running around, and how to revive people without putting yourself in the line of fire. Eventually, anyway.

Improving your situational awareness is also something that will serve you well in the future. Nice weapons are great, but knowing where to go and what to do is always going to benefit the entire team.
I took that build on a run with a couple of friends and a random on gold. I forget who they were playing. At least one had a flamer, but they both could prime. We just stuck together and by the end of the mission, I only had a 25 kill medal, just barely. But we all had 50+ assists, and they both had 75+ kills because there were just constant packs of dudes fire or cryo exploding simultaneously. It was one of the easiest runs we've done.

Knowing where to go is far more important than good weapons. Back when I only had a Harrier II or III, I routinely outscored people with Harrier X's because they didn't seem to know how to position themselves for the best firing lanes on spawns.

I still don't. You guys clear out an entire spawn before I even find it!

One would think that someone who played enough to get a Harrier X would know, though.
For your help - the two biggest factors that determine where enemies spawn are
a) where the team is
b) where the team is looking
Generally, the game will pick the spawn locations that are neither near your team nor where any of your team is actually currently looking. Each wave that usually only fits the bill for 2-3 different spawn points on any given map, so you can be pretty confident where to go. Some maps are trickier than others - for example, Vancouver and London are nearly impossible to do this reliably on, but Glacier and Firebase White are two of the easiest.

I have a Harrier X! That's my point.
Wow, wait, seriously? That's some insane UR luck. I have only 15-20 UR unlocks left to max out a manifest, and the Harrier was one of the last to get to X.
You play well though, so maybe it's just a case of fix the spawn knowledge and you'll become the top scorer!

dhalphir's right, and on certain maps like jade you can force every enemy in every wave to spawn in a single location.
