Probably, however Ben said in yesterday's Reverse the Verse that winning in the race mode is more dependent on your ability as pilot than your ship.
If I were you, I'd race some before I melt anything.
Edit: I don't know how their patch system works, but it's pretty bad. Every patch I'm forced to free up several gigs just so the launcher can extract the patch data.
Edit 2: Oooh Looks like the Asteroid Hangar comes with a fish tank!

I'm guessing they store everything in a temporary folder, patch, and then delete the temporary folder. I've had the same problem when moving a file on a drive to a different folder that's larger than the amount of remaining space.
I can't wait to get home and play!

If there was a way to upgrade from my 325A to a 350R without losing LTI, I would do it in a heartbeat. My thoughts are that you can always upgrade the weapons and targeting computer on the 350, but you can never add another engine on the 325. Thankfully it's not an option, yet...

Downloading now, I notice that they changed the launcher music back to the original track, which is great because I think everyone preferred it how it was anyway.

I've just increased my shame, what have I done! Time to update the Shame Fleet roster.

For what it's worth I would be surprise if you can make the 350r into a real fighter as that would defeat the purpose of having the variant at all - they're also talking about removing all cargo space from the 350r... Wondering if it's going to be able to mount a leap drive.
I am super interested in changing as well but need more information first...
My shame has incremented. Damn you CIG for taking away the trainer variants from our hangars! My Avenger was sooo lonely, what with the Merchantman still being in the concepting phase... Added a tiny little Aurora LN to it. Gotta say, the new hangars are aaaaawesome. Love them all. Here's hoping for Rift support!
Multiplayer is still a bit hit and miss btw... probably going to even out in a few days, as the new patch smell fades away. Did manage to get a round of mp racing in with a friend, and half a minute of coop vanduul swarm before the server died on us.
Racing is more interesting than I had imagined - it's all about managing your momentum and thrust. Who'd have thought they could actually make this viable? It's a great training for "real" maneuvering too!
Anyone else having a issue with ship selection? The only ships I can fly are the trainers, even if I climb in my 350r it doesn't show as option for flying.

Only tried the racing map for a bit with the Hornet and momentum is a bitch. Easy to forget that your ship is actually sliding all over the place when you bank with nothing but empty space around, but dang, you really need to control these ships. Cratered into the buildings a bunch of times. There's gonna be a definite learning curve to the racing, because the result of the physics engine is that this definitely isn't the standard arcade racer; super-easy to pull out of dive to go through a gate and end up plummeting a couple hundred feet right past it because you aren't getting your tail under you to kill your momentum fast enough to make the gate.

Ignore this, my 350r isn't showing up in the hangar.
I've noticed an odd issue the wing cannons on the 300i. If I read the patch notes right, those guns are now fixed and should not track or move at all. However, while they don't track targets like they used to, they still have tracking lag if you make a maneuver. If they're fixed I assume they should be pointing forward no matter what. I am correct in my thinking here?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think even the "fixed" guns still have a bit of movement, just not as much as the gimbaled ones. Which is fine by me since I use a joystick so I'm pretty much just going to be shooting wherever my nose is pointed anyway.

Yes, even the "fixed" weapons have some movement to them, so they can converged on targets properly. I think it's only supposed to be something like 5 or 10 degrees.
Some people are reporting seeing Avengers in multi-player, even though they're not supposed to be out yet.
Proof:
Also there seems to be a Bengal carrier model included in this version in the Murray Cup map, although it seems to be a super low-poly model that's probably not supposed to be viewed from up close.
Can any of you subscribers tell me what's in the lockers (this month's subscriber flair), so I can decide whether or not to subscribe this month?
They're full of easter eggs making references to old games and some community gags. There's a poster from one of Roberts' old flight sims, a box for an 890 Jump, some post-it notes with references on them and various other items.
Am I correct that there's still no option to switch roll to twist and yaw to the x-axis? I looked but didn't see an option so I figured it hasn't been added yet.

There are presets built into the game, I think the console command I had to use was something like "pp_rebindkeys layout_joystick_spacesim".

Maybe I'm tired, crazy, or both but it really seems like they have a good deal more than 5 or 10 degrees for convergence.

Well whatever they've done, I've gone from cruising through swarm no sweat to not even being able to do the first wave. Considering the AI still can't hit me (though they've obviously improved things - I actually had to dodge some fire!), it's one boring stalemate atm.
Also, the new gforce / blackout mechanic is cool, but damn it's going to take some getting used to... Spent half my time unconscious on my first outing.
I am not sure if mouse aiming is really viable any more - going to switch to my joystick and see if I can't improve.
Looks like they just took the required pilot skill to a new level; I can't help but feel this is a massive change for the better!

Presets are for different types of joysticks as far as I can tell. I'll try out the console command, hopefully it still works.

Maybe closer to 10 degrees to either side, but the FOV is, what, around 70 degrees? So that seems pretty close to 10 degrees to me, in comparison to an entire 180 degree front arc.

I already have a Freelancer DUR variant, so to me it was worth making the switch. From what I have gathered from this post: Updating Ship Stats For Gameplay
We will be able to put cargo drop pods on "speedy ships," and the only ships that won't have jump capability are "parasite ships" like the Merlin. Sure, you may need to buy additional items to make them jump capable (like the racer variant M50), but the option is there to upgrade.
This all fits in line with what Roberts has said in the past that ships should be thought of like computer chassis, and UE credits are the limit for how far you want to mod the ship. Sure, a completely kitted out 350R won't have the same fire power as a moderate to high end Hornet, but I fully expect that. What the 350R has going for it is speed (which I do want to make use of).
Really, it all boils down to the style of play you think you may want to partake in.

chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
Me too, but luckily they're on the job.
The number I've been reading is 20 m/s, but the M50 accelerates significantly faster than the 350r.
Mine is saying "login failed" when going full screen even after the Launcher accepts my password.
350r = 300m/s
m50 = 280m/2
The M50 is apparently more maneuverable. Though the 350R is also better armed. The 350r seems like the better all around ship in my opinion.

I got 3 different ones, one for the Connie, one for the 325r and one for the Aurora LX

Actual rate per file seems limited right now, but you can download multiple files at the same time.
Of course the other nice thing about being a subscriber is that we get two of each of those neat things.
325A -> M50 cross chassis upgrade, then M50 -> 350R cross chassis upgrade. Would rather do a straight upgrade but it is doable.
