Now I just need to know how to get on the Public Test server...
The link for the PTR is actually in that post, so download it and get ready.
Downloading it now. Also, even though only people who preordered the clan stuff get to play the clan mechs on the test server, anyone can still get on and play against them. They're actually hoping for some non-clan people to get on so they can see clan vs is play in a public environment. So everyone download it!
Don't know if it's weird but I am honestly not even excited about it right now.
If they sprung the clan mech on us in occasional surprise attacks during regular matches like a lot of people here suggested they should have, and did a slow tease reveal, I would have been hyped over the moon. Now it's just like "meh, some more mechs. Balance is gonna be effed for a while. Whatever"
Maybe I am getting burned out and need to take a break.

Yeah, where's the foreplay? Where's the romance? I guess we should be happy that it's really happening at all, but it could have been done so much better.

I dunno, wasn't the cat let out of the bag 24 years ago? I feel like the net effect of surprise attacks would have been to see the dev-piloted Clans utterly routed every time they showed up. You already know they're not amazing pilots.

Oh man, tomorrow is going to be revelatory. On top of all the normal stat stuff everyone's curious about, I just rediscovered how expensive in-universe the Clan mechs are. A single Daishi Prime costs over 29 million C-bills (assuming you can buy it).
I sure hope PGI's economy is planned out to address this sort of thing. Honestly, I just hope they skip using the canon C-bill costs...

If they do use canon C-Bill costs, I'll feel even better about buying the Clan package, because holy shit, that is a ton of C-Bills.
I'm looking forward to seeing the new cockpit, ingame UI, and weapon effects. Gonna be so crazy!
If the CBill costs on Clan mechs are that crazy, and they turn out to be overpowered, they are going to get a deluge of p2w accusations. Personally, I normally consider boosters to be pay-for-convenience, but if it turns out Clan mechs aren't really feasible to buy in-game...
Test server is gonna have the Buckton fix tomorrow, too, so even if you don't want to test clan mechs for whatever reason, you can at least check out how improved the missiles are.
So, I know most of you guys don't really do the reddit thing, but for those that do, I got the Oosik logo uploaded to their flair section over at /HPG so we can properly rock our colors over there now.
OUCH. Possibly even worse. According to what I can tell from the game files, the Clan AC/20 and UAC20 aren't in the same alpha group. I've included a ERLL for comparison, note the heatPenaltyID - That indicates that it and another weapon are in the same heat group.

Wait, why are the ac20/uac20's only showing four damage?
I'm guessing because they will be burst-fire weapons, which I think they talked about in one of the Command Chair updates (or I'm making that up in my head):
projectileclass="bullet" numFiring="5" damage="4"

Ahhh, right... i remember them mentioning something like that.

•gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass=0/1 (off/on)
•r_DepthOfField=0/1 (off/on)
•r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0-1.0 (film grain amount)
hoping I can make the game look better
EDIT: Set all 3 to 0 and it looks great.

Oh crap! I just realized the Mad Cat is hiding in that vid. Starting at 0:33, wait one tick then stop and pause, you'll see it. Hot.

Didn't they say there would be bonuses for using a proper 'set' of pods? instead of a hodge podge of pods.
But being able to get 12% off cooldowns is no small bonus.
No idea. Who's excited for overpowered Clan tech! I know I am...
How many LB20's can be stuffed into a mech?

someone build an all LB20x Dire Wolf and name it Cheney
Couldn't figure out how to give it a name...but ask, and ye shall receive!

YES, YES, YES! About effing time!
I have literally waited for this addition since the first mech I built in MWO.
I am so overhyped right now.
Wait, why are the ac20/uac20's only showing four damage?
This may be the most exciting news of the day! I'll have some builds to revisit.
I'm guessing because they will be burst-fire weapons, which I think they talked about in one of the Command Chair updates (or I'm making that up in my head):
projectileclass="bullet" numFiring="5" damage="4"
Only one minor problem with that build...
Huh, weird. The ammo didn't save with the rest of it; I definitely loaded it in before creating the link.
Just assume any/all spare tonnage and slots is devoted to ammunition. Ding! The ultimate autocannon spray-nozzle.
No targeting computer, right?
You guys are really bad at reading the warning at the top of the page apparently.
Because, why not? It's GET HYPE day, isn't it?
And just to be clear, the OBVIOUS warning at the top of the page is CLEARLY OBVIOUS. Y'done good there. Couldn't miss it if I tried.
Ahhh, right... i remember them mentioning something like that.
[TIMBER WOLF-S]: 4xCERLL, CAMS, 2xCMG, Clan XL375, DHS, Endo, Ferro
Dreamin...
QuadaPult was old and busted, so we gave it real arms, and named it the QuadaCat?
Isn't there an XML file for that? (I know nothing about how this works).
Yeah. But we don't have a parser set up, and certainly not one for the clans with the Omnipods. We built em the same way you guys do.
