Shit, I just realized I have to build all the goddamned stock mechs for the clans.
Isn't there an XML file for that? (I know nothing about how this works).
Yeah. But we don't have a parser set up, and certainly not one for the clans with the Omnipods. We built em the same way you guys do.
Ah, gotcha. I can help build out that collection tonight (when I get on, exact time is sketchy) and Tuesday (took the day off).
[Edit] Does it make sense to take screen caps of the smurfy-like view for each mech, so that the lab-building can be done away from the game? I think that would provide all the detail we need, right? If so, I can totally do lab-building stuff in down time between now and forever.
So they balanced Clan tech and then gave Clan Mech's perks that cancel them out? Any chance they gave the Inner Sphere some too while they were at it? I mean, they've only been talking about it for two years, but I could see how they would miss it being in such a hurry. Editing XML is hard and all
Those weapon stats look pretty good on their own. Can't wait to hear reports back from the PTS.

Twitch chat is broke for me at work, but the video plays!
I'd call you a silly goose for constantly hitting the "Login" button, but I know I'd do the same thing in your place.
The prior tweet Mav pointed out how the Clan UAC/20 and the "Clan AC/20" don't share a heat group vis a vis Ghost Heat.
Wait why is there a vanilla Clan AC/20? I am so lost.
Sorry, I thought I might need to elucidate. The current build in PTR (and likely next Tuesday's patch) cannot handle multiple munition types/switching for LB-X Autocannons. Thus, they are adding a "Clan AC" with all the same characteristics as the LB-X AC, but that fires a solid slug (the normal LB-X weapons will continue to only fire shotgun rounds).
Once PGI figures out/fixes the munition switching issue, they will be removing the "Clan AC" weapons, per canon.
Awww...and it looks like the PTS is down now. Keep getting disconnected (and right when I was about to checkout with my modded Summoner: removed the CLRM15 to free up tonnage for swapping the CLB10X with a CLB20X(3t)...oh, and a targeting computer)
edit - (oh, and nearly maxing out the armor)

Twitch chat crashed for me. So, no more annoying music comments from me.
At least you HAD Twitch chat. Stupid work firewall doesn't even connect to it for me! And I was going to give Mav such crap for his (now terrible) teen-pop music choices.

Hooray! Fixable-gimp-armor confirmed! My Summoners will be incredibly happy.
Yeah, dude, it went from Power Metal to.....uhm.. Eh, whatever. Like what you like I suppose. But seriously man, some Nick Cave or Tom Waits or something.
Also, you're starting to look frustrated. I know I would be. I'm getting a lot of work done though.
Update! The Server load was higher than anticipated. We have to take it down temporarily for safety, Please stand by for more details. We hope to have it back up again ASAP

Honestly I stick Pandora on and then it's all white noise for me unless someone actively draws my attention to it.

It's cool. Just playing around with ya anyhow. I usually just have Winamp on random through my well over 1000 albums and I get some weird cross sections too.
"Connecting" over and over again. I'm going to mute you and listen to my own music and occasionally visually check in and see if you have met with any success. I hope you do. I'd like to get a glimpse at least before I get home and try myself tonight. So would like to try out some clan mechs.
Frankly, that's fine by me, the proposed "Lock Break" module was overpowered even on paper, anyway.
Lock Break is the one in the Gold Mech package, I believe.
The link I posted shows E-NARC. The Clans preorder page says nothing about the specifics of the modules. And the Gold packages are just for the skin, and include the Masakari package, which is where the modules would be coming from.

At least that's how I read it.
According to the Clan order page, the gold package includes an extra module and warhorn on top of those you get from the Masakari package. Your link is missing a module and two warhorns, implying that they come from the Khan Collection.
Here, watch this Timberwolf solo an Orion over and over again coming away with yellow armor. Balance guys!
Bonus footage: Watch it solo an Atlas. RIP Inner Sphere 2012-2014
Its hard to tell whats happening from the other side of those fights, but if they wanted to confirm my worst fears: mission accomplished.
It was Sean Lang in a Timberwolf against Bombadil in an Orion, and not a great build at that. You were expecting that to be a fair fight? Having watched enough streams now, I get the feeling Sean Lang would have the edge even in a well-matched fight.
The Atlas fight was amusing, because it is so outmaneuvered by the Cat.

if they're modelling tabletop effectively, clan mechs, roughly speaking, are twice as good as an IS mech of equal tonnage. So what did you expect?
While true in many respects, clan units still carry the same amount of armor and structure as an IS mech, so they can't tank better, though they won't die to side torso destruction. Legs, CT or head is the only way to get a kill.
Don't think I am going to get a chance to play on PTS, but I have yet to preorder. If things get very favorable reviews, maybe I will go for the blackhawk/nova tier... pretty hard to get excited about clans since they are going to throw everything else out of balance.

In tabletop, we have battle value, so the Inner Sphere can compensate with numbers, not to mention the restrictive nature of Clan rules of engagement. Plus later in the timeline the Inner Sphere gets a lot of new technologies to help close the gap.
In MWO, we have none of those things, so we need at least approximate competitive balance between equal numbers of Clan and Inner Sphere 'mechs. Community warfare could have done a lot of interesting asymmetrical gameplay things to solve this problem, but since MWO is still essentially nothing but deathmatches between teams with equal numbers of 'mechs and shows no sign of being anything more than that in the foreseeable future, so people in IS 'mechs damn sure better be able to stand a chance against people in Clan 'mechs.
That said, Orions aren't hard to solo regardless of what 'mech you're in. It's probably tied for second-worst IS heavy. Although the fact the T-Wolf comes through each fight looking like he could conceivably take on an entire lance of Orions in succession and win is worrisome.

The part where maybe I'd want to play this game in the future. Also when they said they were balancing the clans to not be better than IS, but you know, PGI lol
I'm not sure what happened...but apparently PGI tweaked some numbers. I can no longer get my Summoner up to where it was at 11:10 this morning. I'm able to keep the targeting computer, CLB20X w/ 3 tons of ammo...but I'm down around 24 armor.

One gold star to PGI for including a tutorial video in the launcher.
That took me all of...20 seconds to build?

I must be missing something, what was Russ' tweet in response to?
Wait why is there a vanilla Clan AC/20? I am so lost.
Because PGI needed to invent a way to add imbalance apparently, because the only good thing they do is let you build a 'Bomb without a heat penalty.
JaggerXII did an Ask Jager series and he just uploaded his first set of videos. He's a pretty high ranked competitive player so it's kinda interesting to hear balance opinions and stuff from the competitive scene.

Apparently, they designed the PTS with the same coolant system technology that's in our mechs. :P
So you're saying that if they bring too many servers online simultaneously that the ghost heat will fry them all at once?

This is a fantastic idea. I think there's zero chance of it happening. The idea's too good!
[edit] Holy eff, Mav is in! So much to react to! My god, all the things! I'm feeling faint over here.
