Also wearing articles of clothing emblazoned with the American flag, in the US, doesn't necessitate being either super-conservative/someonewhowouldactuallyvoteforSarahPalin/an asshole, although there are certainly overlaps between those groups and people who wear American flag clothing. People who put who wear articles of clothing with, say, the confederate flag are far more likely fall into one of the three previous groups. (Although even then it's not something I'd actually judge a person on.)

Some people who wear American flags are members of a comedic exhibition basketball team with a global outlook.

most american flag wearing is the cue to roll my eyes

Patriotism is something I don't highly value

But some people wear American flag designs because they like the design, not because they want to be seen as patriotic.

american flag apparel falls into the same category as private businesses who fly flags on their premises

it's completely unnecessary. Everyone knows you're in the US. Everyone assumes that you are there by choice. No one is going to suspect you of treason if you aren't announcing your allegiance at all times

edit: if you're in another country, then I suppose flag apparel would be slightly less dumb

The problem with American flags on clothing is that it is very hard to find such a design without it looking tacky. I've got a fairly subtle t-shirt with eagles and such American imagery that is dark, blends into a decent design, and isn't terribly noticable. It was my standard 4th of July shirt, until I got my Lincoln Force T-shirt.

This is the only article of American themed clothing I commonly use in Japan:

99% of the shit people in the united states do with flags is against the flag code because we don't understand what flags are for

I think I know where you got this from :)

As someone who doesn't play Dark Souls 2, I wouldn't know if this is offensive or not! Maybe there is an item thats like a hole that does something! Also I don't get how Try Hole is offensive, unless hes saying like "try having sex with this character" which makes no sense.

Flying a flag has nothing to do with any of those things.

If it's just general pride and a desire to keep things nice and in good standing sure

then you get the loud people in every group that take things a bit too far

Yeah except what kicked this off was

"But wearing an American flag in, say, America, basically says "I love Sarah Palin, firearms, and beer in that order."

Which is not only not true but a pretty blanket stereotype
