Windows 7 - disabling thumbnail previews

BullioBullio Registered User regular
I did a wipe of my Windows install and now I'm getting these annoying mouse-over thumbnail previews of images and videos that I can't remember how to disable. I'm fairly certain it's a setting in either VLC or IrFanView, but I can't find the setting I'm looking for and my Google-fu is failing me. Anyone have any ideas how to get rid of these?

Just right click in the folder. Select "View" and pick list or details or one of those rather than icon.

What is this I don't even.

Not a viable solution. My previous install was set up to view images as icons without the enlarged popup.

I guess I'll have to keep digging.

EDIT: Ah ha! Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items
