I'm not crazy, right? I get a really weird thrill from successfully ejecting, rocketing up in the air, seeing my titan explode beneath me and then picking out a prime spot to land.
I even do an "eject face" appropriate for the moment.
I need to play this game more. I keep getting rolled on.
Of course being level 8 doesn't help. You folks have nice toys.

Wow, Gooser is going from 50 to 5 kills? That almost seems like an overreaction. Not that I'm really going to miss getting 45 more Gooser kills
Hopefully switching Internet service providers this weekend, so maybe I'll finally be able to join you all in the normal evening hours without getting a ridiculous ping.
Its really not considering how much harder gooser is compared to other challenges. Like again I made it to gen 5 and had only ever lifetime of playing gotten 2 gooser kills. 2! And when I asked my friends they had done much the same.
"Well you weren't trying to do the challenge!" You'll say.
True, and now since I've been trying I have gotten 1 more bringing me to 3 total ever. Its just very situational and compared to every other gen challenge completely insane to request someone get 50 of these damn things. I mean 30 charge rifle crits was hard enough!
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Since I have sunk 40 or so hours in and gotten zero, naught, nadda, a big fat goose egg when it comes to Gooser kills... I think 5 is still hard to do.

Mine is typically a sideways glance with one eye squinting hoping I can eject in time. I just can't take auto-eject over big punch . I CAN'T DO IT.
Exactly. Like to get them you have to in order of events.
Kill a titan or be near a titan when its killed
Have the pilot eject and be launched in the air (so no inside building kills which happen on a lot of maps)
Be able to spot the invisible pilot either by being out of a titan yourself or having really good eyes
And finally kill them in an extremely limited window with some precise shots all the while competing with other people attempting to do the same thing and the pilot themselves trying to avoid it.
That's a whole shit ton harder than "Get 50 titan kills with the railgun."

You forgot the whole "rodeo an enemy Titan until it's doomed and the pilot ejects, then cloak and shoot them while you're both in the air". I've gotten 4 gooses so far, and 2 of them were from Rodeo Doomings.
But I'll agree that window is extremely narrow, and you have to get lucky quite a bit to make it to 50, even if you are just exclusively focusing on Goosing pilots.

I have 1. And it was from a guy who didn't have auto eject on so I was able to track him and just keep shooting.
5 is plenty for sure.

I end up doing something similar for being placed in my mech. Grinning like a fiend at the things I'll be obliterating shortly.

Still kinda ambivalent about it. I mean, on the one the hand it makes it a lot easier for people to get it naturally, but on the other I read other people wracking up 20-30 in a few days of play and then there's those that have already completed the challenge and it's like eh. Disregarding any person who cheated the challenge by collaborating to unlock it, of course.
I guess what I'm getting at is maybe dropping it to 5 was a bit much, imo. Probably would have been better to simply leave it untouched and remove it as a requirement entirely.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
5 mean its still there as a roadblock, but not one that will literally keep people from ever advancing. I mean they turned the gening from eq to WoW, not a bad move.

I'm not sure that the numbers were there to support it either. How many gen 5 players are there? How many were actually stagnating at Gen 5 vs complaining and/or whining about how hard it was going to be to get beyond Gen 5 or giving up despite it being nothing more than a distant goal to them?
While it means little, I know I've seen a few Gen 5/50s in my travels, but more G6+s. The most common chip seen being Gen 2.
A gen-5 player going to the extreme to farm those kills would clearly be disruptive to gameplay, but was this really that hard?

Obviously to Respawn it was. It also was a uniquely difficult challenge compared to the other ones to gen up and made no sense.
How many gooser kills have you gotten tasty vs how many hours have you put in?

I don't know how long I've been playing the game, but here's a quote from my earlier post:
I have 2 so far, but I haven't been actively trying to get them. Stomping the pilots or punching them is just more appealing.
edit: tonight though is when I'll be gunning for those. Obviously my own experience with how hard/easy it is would be irrelevant to yours though.
So, even if I do drop say, 10-20 of them tonight, it wouldn't change my general assessment of it being a change that I'm not sure was truly necessary, but that I can see was for a greater good.
“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
For some reason, and maybe it's my tv settings or just my eyes, I can't see cloaked pilots nearly as well as you guys seem to be able to. It's really difficult for me to spot them.

I was not looking forward to gooser.
In a titan its extremely difficult, especially post being ejected. And contrary to some of the gooser help I've seen people do not always eject straight up. Hell I've ejected on a map like demeter outside, and I've been launched almost as much horizontally as I was vertical.
I guess for me gening up should be something that is a bit of a challenge, but not something that prohibits progress.
Like the brain surgeon challenge is doable, hard, but there are way to get work a rodeo down in a advance to make it easier. But like if there is a challenge for killing wall hanging pilots thats going to be damn near impossible because people very infrequently wall hang, let alone do it long enough to get killed while doing it.
One fix that I proposed that would keep the challenges for the harder core but not prohibit some shittier players from advancing is adding an extra ten levels past 50 to be able to gen up without the challenges. Like if you do all the challenges you can gen up at 50, failing that if you get to level 60 you can gen up without having completed any of them.
That way if you run across a weapon you don't like, or a type of kill you suck at, you can just do thing you're good at and level up later.

I haven't played the last couple days been too wrapped up in some d3, but with the gooser challenge change coming I might sign in to lose some games with you and bratworst tonight. How is chip liking falls of titan?

Anecdotally, at least, it seems like Gen 5 is where I see most players stalled out. I've come across quite a few level 50 gen 5's, which I pretty much never see with any other gen.
Everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
What's funny is without the gooser challenge gen 5 would be fairly easy. The other challenges in gen 5 are carbine and arc cannon and something else which wasn't difficult.

Surprise! He hates it! Maybe not surprisingly...something wrong with that boy. Actually, I think he starting to come around, now that he's getting the hang of it.

Yeah, I've seen more people either beyond Gen-5 or whom it would be nowhere in their immediate future anyway. The flow is more of an inverse bell curve. Though I imagine now you'll see more higher rankers post-patch.

So you know the worse thing about using the Railgun isn't even the gun but is how much it slows me down compared to other guns.
Its the worst gun for grunt farming and it has a very hit and run approach to Titans fights make them last a bit longer than I'm used to.
Well...only 18 more kills with it I guess.
Agreed. I'm on the challenge as well and it just messes up my whole strategy of how I play. Really have to slow down. And I won't lie, when someone "steals" my almost titan kill when I'm about to finish it off, naughty words may most certainly do slip out.

Is it me, or does Titanfall have one of the worst, most poisonous playerbases this side of Xbox CoD? Excluding you guys of course. Over the last two days, I've had someone whine that my CAR is OP, my satchel is OP, my carbine is OP, my kick is OP, my shotgun is OP... This is usually from a SP user, mind you. Oh, and my LMG, seriously.
Exactly what weapon IS acceptable?
I mean, not that I care. I'm gonna use whatever weapon seems the most fun. But I actually am looking forward to when all these people migrate to another flavor of the month. Maybe thin the ranks of geese and whatnot.
