Is there any good way to view events by date added? I see events are still popping up, and it would be good if there was a way to just see the newest stuff and not miss anything.
I know Mike and Jerry want to eventually detach themselves from being the PAX hosts and just be guys at a con, but I will definitely miss the Q&A panels. Last year I got some of my non pa fan friends to come with me and they fell in LOVE with Mike and Jerry. Now they are the ones who want to see everything Penny Arcade, including Stripsearch.
But the schedule is still a bit odd. The Omegathon stuff is happening at the same time as the make a strip? So I guess Mike and Jerry won't be hosting the omegathon second round. And Mike and Jerry's Second signing is happening at the same time in the same room as the Mass Effect signing? I wonder how that's going to work.
But I am really looking forward to seeing the Acquisitions Inc. You guys are going to make me regret I didn't pick up the pin set :P
The queue room is huge. There will be room for two signings at the same time.
Also there's still make-a-strip I expect that to be packed, esp with the lack of Q&A panels.
There are some really strong panels on here that I'm pretty excited for- the Game Art and Positivity in the Game Industry panels to be exact.
Thanks! The Positivity in Game Industry panel is mine, and I'm looking forward to chatting with the other panelists and attendees. We felt it was an important panel to have, especially given recent studio closings.
I gotta say I'm really impressed that it seems they are definitely listening to feedback about the Q&A and will be 'prescreening' Q's to avoid having 20 people just asking for stuff to be signed. I still don't know if I'll attend the Q&A but knowing that I could actually hear some interesting/funny questions and answers this time is making me rethink it.
Without the Q&A, I'm considering not going to Storytime for the first time. Really bummed, but I'm probably going to go to Make-A-Strip to make up for it. Also, 4 League of Legends panels o.O This might be the year I spend most of my time in panels.
Last year was my first PAX (and it was awesome), but I was really disappointed to see nothing DotA 2 related. Just checked the schedule here and didn't see it this year either.
Anyone know what's up? A Valve issue, a PAX issue, or just a "who knows" thing?

Awesome! It's definitely a must-go-to panel for me, I would love to chat with the panelists/attendees on the subject too.
The new Q&A/Make-a-Strip format seems like it will work out pretty well. Last year was the first time I went to Q&A and it was a blast- definitely a highlight. I'm also growing increasingly excited for AcqInc...

Valve hasn't been to PAX for years, so that's why you don't see a Dota booth on the expo floor. When it comes to tournaments, Dota 2 has some of the longest lasting matches in any Moba, so it would be hard to organize something over the weekend. The reason so much LoL happens at PAX is because 1) Riot has a booth and 2) PAX Prime is now the home of the NA regional championships, so PAX overall can tend to lean towards the League audience.
When it comes to PAX Prime, I could make the argument that the International is typically only a couple weeks before, so having a big tournament would be schedule-crazy for pro teams. Alas, it's PAX East so I'm not sure why Dota isn't bigger here.
Rest assured, Dota 2 is installed on the PC Freeplay computers.
Huh. So, looking over the comments here, seems as though people actually wanted the Q&A panels to be 'pre-screened' in this new manner?
I... can't say I'm particularly amped about the decision (if you want to avoid signing requests, seems like a simple matter of just saying so up-front), nor the decision to cut the Q&A panels down (they were, as a non-attendee viewer, easily some of my favorite parts of these cons).
But then, I'm a non-attendee viewer, so I suppose at the end of the day what I'd be interested in is kind of (see: utterly) irrelevant.
Just somewhat surprising/disappointing is all.
That said, I believe I saw mentions of an Acquisitions Inc. game, which - having been under the impression they were only doing a 1-per-year game at Prime - I'm looking forward to immensely... Though I now wonder: who is the new intern? I see mention of neither Wil nor Patrick in the panel's description.
Wouldn't mind - to offer more irrelevant non-attendee input - seeing a bit more variation in the flavor of these live games though, maybe some Cyberpunk or something.
I dunno, there's so many bloody games available these days, might be interesting to shift between the ol' classic (D&D) and a variable game roster to grant some attention to games the guys enjoy, grant such games more exposure to the general audience and mix it up a bit in terms of the characters/worlds we see them taking on in their roles as puppets dancing to the melody of escapism for our petty amusements.
Just another thought (of minimal perceived value) from a non-attendee.
As someone who plans to collect and trade pins just as mementos of his time at pax, I'm excited that there will be a designated time to meet and trade with the PA staff. I will totally get in line an hour and a half early because I'm sure it will be packed.

Here's my first attempt at reorganizing the schedule in a grid view: goo.gl/JQo3VI

About half the questions done live every year are:
a) Not a question
b) A chance to get on a soapbox and promote their own stuff
c) A failed attempt at humor
d) Have 15 parts to the question
or
e) Ramble on for 5 mins doing some combo of a-d, until the question is finally reached
you can go to http://paxschedule.com for an ical conversion of the schedule that @iFish made. It has to get updated every time the schedule changes though, I think (as in, it does not update when the schedule updates).
note: since apple is dumb and names everything "isomething", I have to put a note here to mention that this is for the open icalendar file format, not an apple app. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalendar
I had a little free time today so I threw together a spreadsheet of the schedule with all of the descriptions available as comments (hover to view). I prefer this layout since I find it easier to schedule my time and easily spot conflicts. Find it here...

Any idea when the schedule will go up on Guidebook?
Glad to see some new acts at the concert this year. Paul and Storm are funny, but they don't really update their act very much, last year was 90% the same as the year before, which was 95% the same show as the year before that, so I'm happy they're taking a break. Jonathan Coulton didn't even seem to want to be there last year, he just phoned it in and did the same set he always does.
I remember last year they had some band, I think they were called "Those who fight", and they were REALLY weak. Were they the ones playing the concept rock with their made up narrative about Final Fantasy? That was just brutal. And I know the Protomen have a strong following, but their music felt totally incomprehensible to me, as a person who was otherwise unfamiliar with their material.
Hopefully the new bands this year will be much better.

any chance of an android version?
ical is an open calendar file format that is readable by most calendar software. this isn't the apple Calendar app (which was stupidly originally named iCal).

So it is official! We'll be screening "Of Dice and Men" on Friday night at PAX. Come see the film, and stay for the Q&A to meet the director Kelley Slagle, the writer and co-star Cameron McNary, and the director of photography Autumn Moran. Check out the trailer here: Of Dice and Men Trailer
So, I just noticed that PAX is only open until 12 AM this year. Just curious as to what other people thought about that? Also, anyone have info as to why it may have been shortened this year?

There's always* been tabletop tournaments
*Where "always" means "as far back as I can remember", but I'm pretty sure tournaments have always been a thing for the 4 freeplay areas.
I remember in a checkpoint awhile ago they mentioned they had to attend a wedding Pax east weekend.
