So my shitty old laptop finally crapped out on me. Since I seem to make really lousy buying decisions when it comes to laptops, I figured I would see if anyone here can direct me to a good purchase.
What I'm NOT looking for: Desktop, Netbook, Chromebook, Macbook
I generally only use my laptop for browsing the net and writing, so it doesn't have to be a workhorse. That said, my last laptop sucked when using firefox for some reason, as it would generally stutter when say, switching from tabs within Twitter or viewing imbedded youtube videos.
Other software I run:
Quicken
Zune (shut up)
Outlook
And that's it.
Size and battery life aren't super big issues, as I generally just keep it at home. It'd be nice if it was lightweight enough for the occasional trip, but that's not a dealbreaker. I'd like it to run windows, even though I'm not the biggest fan of Windows 8.It feels with this criteria, I should be able to get something under 500, but like I said, I suck at purchasing, so maybe I'm wrong?

Do not fear windows 8.1 . It is amazing and metro can(should) be ignored. Better than 7 in every way ..... just skip metro by hitting the win key.
