That is a great list, thanks for the link! It is kind of sad that I've only played parts of two of those. I do, however, own another one of those games on Steam! I'll have to give it a try soon!
Edit:
Since I pretty much just play games on the computer, here is another thematically appropriate picture:
Can we talk about how important it is, in case of a zombie outbreak, to prevent the mutation of non-shambler zombies? Because I think we should make that a global priority.
Man, Gunpoint just totally rocks. The gameplay is pretty great. Not something I'd love to play all the time, but a good romp. The story is pretty good too.
But the writing is what gets me, and the multiple response choices the main character has. "A: To who? B: To whom?"
So. I just played a bit to get a feel of it, and I was very surprised.
See, when someone tells me a game is a metroidvania, I need more detail, actually, because I feel there are TWO types. The castlevania type, which is more focused on the combat, finding new weapons and abilities to be used in battle, RPG elements, and maybe a few travel abilities too.
Then we have pure metroids. All abilities you find are used for both battle and traversal of the levels, very few RPG elements, a much heavier focus on exploration and secrets.
Most games that tout themselves as metroidvanias nowadays are of the first variety. Things like Valdis story and Guacamelee. Powerpuff girls: Defenders of townsville is the latter. And I couldn't be happier.
I wouldn't say those are types so much as a spectrum, but yeah. I wish there was a new side-scrolling Metroid to look forward to, we haven't had anything since the GBA days!
It's hard, but if you want combat abilities that affect traversal and combat that is skill-based instead of grinding for level-ups then Guacamelee! is the game for you. And on top of that, it's gorgeous. And the soundtrack is, lately, my "I need to get shit done at work" go-to.

Finished Shadow Warrior last week. Loved it, despite several flaws.
Pretty much annihilated every living thing with a sword for 90% of the game. Though not much replayability beyond that.
This week, I played and finished Ninja Theory's reboot of DmC.
It was a pleasant surprise how enjoyable it was, given a couple of gripes. One being it takes it a while for the gameplay to pick up as you unlock weapons.
Similarly, with the main characters;
Dante was OK, a bit of the young, rebellious UK hipster vibe for my taste. But not bad as he grew on me. Though I immensely prefer his over-the-top version of the past.
Vergil was the biggest disappointment, though. He felt oddly generic as far as the role the game has given him and being a surprise antagonist was obvious and a bit of a put-off. This is compared to his awesomely cool, enigmatic anti-hero persona from Devil May Cry 3.
Though one of the Brothers' exchanges certainly left me with a bit of a smirk;
Vergil: We make a great team, don't we?
Dante: Yeah, we do...
Both: ......
Dante: I'm stronger.
Vergil: I'm smarter.
Dante: I'm better looking.
Vergil: ...
Vergil: I've got a bigger dick.
Moving on to alternating my playtime between Saint's Row IV and Sleeping Dogs.
Both of which are so completely, undeniably awesome in such a different spectrum, that I should slap myself for not playing them sooner...

Can we talk about how important it is, in case of a zombie outbreak, to prevent the mutation of non-shambler zombies? Because I think we should make that a global priority.
We should also convince people to not wear armor, because the armor unfortunately protects them better as zombies than it did while they were alive.
One of my dudes got run down by a half-dozen of those things. Plenty of ammo but no snacks so he couldn't fight his way out. I swear they did that on purpose.
The first time I saw a feral, it charged under the noon sun, but Maya was a stone-cold soldier (who somehow had shit cardio and strength) and put three in the vicinity of its face without shifting a heel. Not so tough, I thought.
The second time I saw a feral, I was cutting through a harvested field at midnight when it glanced up at the extreme edge of my headlights. I grinned malevolently, and floored it. When it effortlessly ninja-rolled aside toward the driver's door, I nope'd my way all the way back to the road.
The third time I saw a feral, it was when I was casually walking out of a store and—ach! my jugular!

I admit I'm intrigued how snacks act as a defence during a zombie outbreak. Do you eat them, and use the resulting sugar high t flee, road-runner like, leaping a tall building in a single bound and mocking your earthbound foes?
Or..um..are they snacks for the zombies? In which case when getting more ammo, make sure to put your hand in the..um..non-slimy pocket. Blargh.

Sort of the first one. Endurance limits your ability to fight, flee, or curb-stomp a zombie's head effectively, and snacks - coffee, energy drinks, or a package of Totally Not Twinkies - help your endurance refill more quickly. Handy if you've got a pack of zeds on your heels and you're already spent from dealing with the other pack of zeds in front of you.

Hopefully the summer sale will happen when I'm not in the middle of moving out of state. You need to pull me back in, Steam! I'm over here in battle net and (god help me) Origin these days!
Apparently my brain decided that this was a good time to finally try out Battlefield 3 and I really dig it. I wish the campaign were more open like the FPS of Olde but the attention to detail is nuts. I want a WWII game with these graphics and production values.
Man screw the summer sale. I'm gonna go dark throughout the month of July. No electricity. It's the only way out.

Summer sale is going to be rough for me. I'll have moved to another state and left my job of 19 years and I don't expect to be working again by then (although if an opportunity appears, I'll be happy!). I might have to stay away from these forums.
Oh my goodness, I am so excited to finally see what Pixie's ranting is about. I love you, Lolo!

Of course, how silly of me. Also I mixed up State of Decay with Dead State. Dead State is the turn based strategy one that Ultrahonky loves so much?
I have both. I haven't played much Dead State yet as the early access is basically demo length.
State of Decay is the one that I have put at the #3 spot on my list of Favorite Games Ever* right now. Such a great game. I have raved about it a time or three.
*That is, if "Ever" means the last 10 years or so because rating games older than that tends to result in nostalgia-based ranking.

I'm right there with you. Wife is graduating grad school in a month, and they just let us know how much we will be paying over the next 25 years. They call it "exit counseling" for a reason.
I think I need to hope people are still playing the games I currently own in 25 years.
Yea I too will be in the jobless until fall camp plusni need to sell my house, and move to a new place, then gear up to start a couple of new courses.

Happy Easter to those that celebrate it!
While this game doesn't have a giant egg-delivering bunny (that I am aware of), it does have other animals, such as a fox-ish creature that kills stuff with a sword. Enjoy!

Dust, if that was too ambiguous.
Also, @HiT BiT I can't even put into words how much I love that picture!
@Drake is no longer content to kill backlogs verbally, he is now acting proactively.
Many thanks for Eterium. I love me some Wing Commander and this is kicking off all those vibes for me again.

I think I'm going to have to pass on the Dale because I had an injury in February and was off work for a bit, and I'll be playing catch for most of the summer.
This doesn't bother me too much though, because I'll probably still be working on my backlog in 25 years.

I passed on the Winter Dale, and now I'm kinda regretting it.
Personally I wish I had just taken $5 or $10, thrown it in my steam wallet and just bought a few small weird gifts for folks.
I mean, I'll SAY I'm avoiding Summer Dale, but we all know we're like, a hair away from just throwing our wallets at our monitors to make the games get onto our computers.
