I'm perusing various websites and is the PS4 really outselling the Xbone 3:1? Holy shit. Did MS really have to kill production 5 months in? Fuck they are pretty much done. I know they have a far weaker console but shit.

Yeah, no, MS and the XBone aren't going anywhere. The HD game isn't stable enough to be supported by only one console (Since the Wii U isn't pulling any weight in that, as far as most companies are concerned) so it'll be like last generation in which most things will be on both, it's just that the better versions will almost all be Playstation instead of XBox.
Not only that, but Microsoft has proved that they're more than willing to pay out the ass for prominence, which will continue to sell XBones alone. See enough commercials. print ads, internet clips, etc. for one, and there's a good chance you'll end up grabbing one yourself and all that. I wouldn't be surprised if their substantial ad presence isn't what's sold most of those XBones in the first place, really.
The only issue MS has right now is retailer confidence is low for the product. This happened around the same time with the PS3 and took a lot of spending on Sony's behalf to give retailers better buying in deals for orders.
If Drive Club had come out in the spring, I would've likely bought it sight unseen, but now there's just enough FUD around the game that I'm feeling cautious about it. It looks really pretty, but the (probable) lack of circuits and city circuits is a bit of a letdown. Plus, there will be plenty of racing games in the fall competing for attention.

I guess this is how competition works.
MS is far from done
The Xbox One is selling well
It had a good launch but since then? Not really. Its sales from January to March were worse than the equivalent period of the 360's life and that's with all the price drops (both official and unofficial) and the Titanfall bundle.
Whether they're done or not depends on how you're using the word. Done as in leaving the industry? No, not until Microsoft decides to pull the plug themselves (or shareholders force them to). Done as in they have no chance of winning this gen? Yeah, I'd say so. Even if they somehow managed to outsell the PS4 in the US and UK, the gap in those two countries would have to be even wider than it was last gen to successfully offset Sony's dominance in mainland Europe and Asia. The likelihood of that happening is slim to none.

The market could easily be supported by one console (and PC) if it really came to that. It's not like the people who buy multiple copies of games are a substantial part of the market, everyone would just gravitate to the one console or PC if they had to.

If these numbers are to be believed they have over a billion dollars in stock sitting on shelves and in warehouses (800k units). I'm not a market insider but damn even Sega didn't have it that bad, did they? Everywhere I go the PS4 is sold out while there are still legions of "day one" Xbox Ones to be had.
It's never been an issue for me, but the DS4 light dimming options are... subtle. Maybe it's enough to make a difference for those with glossy screens, but I suspect some folks will be severely disappointed.
The new Share-related options seem really good, but I didn't have much time to test, much less download SHAREfactory (I'm a slave to forced capitalisation in branding).
Overall, a really welcomed update - I just hope Sony can acknowledge there's plenty more to be done.

The X1's demise has been drastically overstated.
It's like the 3rd or 4th best selling console of all time... It's problem is that it's going against the Best selling console in history.

Where the X1 does have a problem is all the territories it's not in right now, and probably Europe. Estimated sales have it as around a 450-500k unit difference in the US (in PS4's favor), but Sony has a 3 million unit lead worldwide (60-70 territories total). As new developers emerge in non-North American markets, what consoles do you think they're going to develop for?
MS have just announced that they'll be launching the Xbox One in China, a huge, untapped market. that could give them a sizeable boost in sales, especially since we've yet to hear any plans from Sony to launch the PS4 there.
Either way, I think it's too soon to call it at (almost) 6 months in. Sony was able to turn things around for the PS3, and it was probably worse off 6 months into its life than the XBO is now.

I don't know about that. Japan hated the 360 so that gave Sony a potential group of 3rd party developers to give them exclusives that MS just didn't have (short of actually bankrolling them like they did with Lost Odyssey).

I think you're over-estimating Japan's importance in the worldwide console "war". Losing Japan didn't stop the 360 from being #1 worldwide. And it wasn't Japanese exclusives that turned things around for the PS3 in western markets.
Oh late, lamented industry thread. When will you rise from your grave and take the sin of the console wars off of other threads and onto yourself. As has been prophesied.

I dunno if it's just luck or not, but I've seen PS4s in the wild twice in the last 3 days: once at Costco, once at GameStop. Maybe they're finally having production catch up with demand?
I am not trying to troll or anything, honest, but what is the next neat game for PS4? I am no longer interested in Watch Dogs or that Tom Clancy's The Division Tea Party saves the world game. I haven't turned on my ps4 in a month, maybe more, since I finished Black Flag.

inFamous is great. Wolfenstein looks like it's going to be fun times.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

This ShareFactory application is pretty robust. Lots of awesome stuff you can do and your video comes out looking almost like an official press release.
So, MLB14 does not appear to have any good pre-order bonuses. Amazon will give you an MLB team skin for your PS4 controller, and GameStop will give you $20 ingame currency (at the cost of your soul because you pre-ordered at GameStop). I have not seen any others, have any of you?

I was just coming here to post this.
As someone who's edited for a living, this is way, way better than I ever expected. You can do a ton with this.
EDIT: Although the first time I pulled up the share menu, it gave me some message about pressing square and triangle to save and I skipped past it and now i can't get it to come back...hmmm....

It seems like they added way more informational icons for the Share button now too, double click Share and a little "Recording" icon pops up, when 15 minutes are up a new notification of "Recording Saved" pops up, etc. Way more information than before where you had no idea what was being recorded, etc.

I was in the same situation. Ended up going with Gamestop...RTTS mode tends to be a bit of a grind, so the IGC to turn you into a golden Baseball God a bit faster is nice.

For me, the update is kinda "meh" and doesn't offer much. Dimming the light bar is about the most useful thing, personally.

I'd probably go with orchestral, nothing beats it for tension and drama. Maybe some good hiphop or trap if it needs a little flavour.
...I'm unlikely to make the effort though.

The freaking PSP is still the most popular system there by a landslide margin.

Which, if it's widely hacked in China, rather undermines the point of console sales. Pyrrhic victory go!
