Man, Reaper of Souls is so good you guys! Apparently Diablo should have been on consoles all along.
I played about 3 hours of D3 with my kids last night. They taught me that no matter how good I thought I was at the game they will always level faster than I will, and I taught them that it is not proper etiquette to be loot grabbing little thieves.

I still haven't managed to teach my friends that. And we're....uh....TWENTY FIVE. Yeah.
I read a few reviews of it. Doesn't look great. I think I'll save my $15 for inFamous First Light next week.
I'm covering it now, just started last night.
It's got a serious 90's platformer vibe, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your mood.
It's also got serious framerate problems. Look up at the sky, it's a smooth 60 fps, but turn your head down even a bit and it dips well under 20.
Also the starting area has some of the pukiest colors I've ever seen in a game, though I think that's intentional. I just hope the rest of the game doesn't look like that.
I would have liked to have covered Diablo III but these days Indie downloadables is about the only thing offered to sites.
Lately I've been wondering which re-releases count as "definitive versions" for those who already own them on PC.
For example, how does Tomb Raider on PS4 stack up to the PC version? I've played through it on near max, had the dumb hair thing disabled.
Metro Redux is also a tempting offer, but since the PC version offers a 50% discount if you own the original already, I might stick to that platform. Also the 3D in Last Light was really freaking terrific, and I wish PS4 would enable 3D on their games already.
And now Sleeping Dogs is getting a new version that supposedly also warrants a PS4 release. It's becoming a real temptation to double dip on these games because of the PS4's share advantages and overall convenience, but I wouldn't want to pay for games that underperform compared to their PC predecessors.

My nine year old is surprisingly good about it. I mean, he loots EVERYTHING, but then we immediately go to the inventory screen and sort out who gets what.
That said, I'm not sure that the console version doesn't make a guess as to who is best suited for any given piece of loot and just put it in their inventory regardless of who grabs it. Three or four times I know he looted the Massive Whatever or Whatever but it ended up in my inventory.
I haven't followed up on Diablo III since playing the vanilla game to completion on PC. Do the expansions/improvements do anything at all to improve the godawful story from the campaign?
Every single time a bad guy opened their mouth, this kept playing in my head.

Unless it has exclusive content, I'd stick with PC.
Tomb Raider Definitive has some visual fidelity tweaks (they changed Lara's face and added some new lighting tricks) that aren't present in the PC version, but nothing that makes the PC version irrelevant.

Holy crap no. You play Diablo III for Adventure mode and hammer the skip dialogue button like it's a naughty kitty.

The console version totally does this. My initial response to all the loot grabbing was to make one of them a pack mule; they would be responsible to grab everything that drops and we'd sort it out later. That went by the wayside when we figured out it just gave it to whomever anyway.

I know I shouldn't judge too much being someone who thinks (good) JRPGs make some of the best stories in videogames, but holy crap Diablo III was so Saturday Morning Cartoonish I was waiting for a 90's guitar riff or maybe some canned sound effects.
It just amazes me that anyone could take the lore in that series seriously. There were some neat ideas there that could have been handled well, but every single demon, ghost, or demon ghost was one moustache-twirl away from having a sarcastic dog sidekick to complete the look.

It must be new to this Ultimate Evil Edition. It definitely didn't do it on the Vanilla 360 version.

"You'll never get away with this, Diablo!"
Yeah, the lore was just fine but the execution was.... jesus god it was reprehensibly bad. It's like they couldn't decide who they were making the game for, the M rated audicences or some 8 year olds. Hell, Skylanders and LEGO do a better job with the story then Diablo III does.
That being said, I'm downloading D3 now and I'm looking forward to playing with you PS4 bros and brodettes.
According to GB I should start at the tier above Hard, as Hard is apparently too easy. It also sounds like I'll powerlevel the hell up when playing with other people, since there's an exp boost with co-op or something.
I actually stopped playing Diablo 3, despite being the ONLY recent console game that came anywhere close to the joy I had playing Champions of Norrath or Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, because of the painfully bad story/dialogue. The mission where you're defending Helm's Deep from Saruman's army -- sorry, I meant Bastion's Keep and Azmodan; my bad -- became laugh-out-loud pathetic when Azmodan...
(you know what? Spoilers. Just in case.)
...TELLS THE HEROES that his super-secret "I'm gonna getcha!" plan is that his minions are invading from the basement, rather than just fucking invading and pouring into the heart of the Keep and catching them unaware.
I gave up. I had it. I couldn't be bothered to find out if it was a ruse to distract me or if he really was just that stupid.
And the game is fun, that's what hurts me so bad about it. What happened to telling a good story? Shit, what happened to telling a story that doesn't insult my intelligence? This is Diablo. It's never been campy, why did they start now?

That's nowhere near as bad as you spending a few hours helping some evil ghost guy so he can assist you, while being assured that he absolutely will not double-cross you.

you're pretty lucky you stopped there because the camp escalates to musical theater levels in the next act
LOL I was actually OK with that one! It wasn't a direct (and piss-poor) lift from LOTR, so it wasn't quite as bad. Besides, I got a good chuckle out of his dialogue being followed up with a maniacal cackle every time he vanished.
Wow, they're really giving the shaft to PC players. $40 for D3, $40 for RoS, but on the PS4 it's $40 for both. *eyeroll*
Guess I'll just wait til I have a PS4.
That's because the base game didn't come out on the PS4; but I see it as 60$, not 40$. Vanilla came out for consoles at 60$ and then 40$ for the expansion which also includes Vanilla.
So really the people getting screwed are the ones who bought Vanilla on consoles.

Several PS4 games have 3D, the feature has been in there since launch. Trine 2, Sniper Elite 3, there's a few others as well.

I would buy Metro Redux right quick if it had 3D. Again, it was spectacular on PC.
I'm not really sure what I'll do about that game. Technically it would be cheaper just to upgrade on PC, but I'm still not sure what they're adding to the base game besides revamped visuals. Does it include all the DLC too (like Ranger Mode)?

Turn up your sound the next time you put the crown on Leoric's head.
Wow, I wish I knew where I saw that link of D3 for $40. It must have been a mistake because it was the PS4 edition. Anyways, that does suck all around.
Going to start playing D3 now. Feel free to hop in or send a friend invite if you have it.
Even though my friend list is about 99% PA people, I only ever see like 6-8 people online at a time. I'd really like to add more active players to my friend's list.
Wow! I was playing Diablo and a terror demon appeared out of nowhere(I was in act 1). I forgot its name, but its descriptor said it was the slayer of Vacorsis. I killed it and it dropped a present that contained rare loot that I could send to Vacorsis. Then, I found 3 different legendaries that each had a gift I could send to a person on my friends list. Sent Dulor, UnbreakableVow and... someone else legendary gifts!
That's so cool!
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
So far I'm quite impressed with Diablo III on the PS4. The analog control is far and way better than constantly clicking on the ground, every attack auto-targets the nearest enemy which means you don't have to worry too much about keeping track of your dude during all the chaos, and hitting buttons with force feedback just adds an extra bit of satisfaction while slaying enemies that you just can't get with a keyboard.
Only thing I'm missing is the ability to zoom in and out. Didn't the PC version let you do that?

No, it didn't. It just zoomed in when you were in a merchant dialogue.
