clearly the issue here is the rifter, switch to amarr and learn to love the laser.
in all honesty you're probably gunna be fucked against people in more expensive ships than you without friends. You need to either bling the fuck out of a ship, or lay a trap for them to blow them up for sweet sweet tasty innards. Back before the days of faction warfare I did a lot of piracy this way. I would fit a supertanked cruiser and basically play dumb and wait for some morons to jump me, then I would warp disrupt them and call in the cavalry. We killed a lot of people this way.
the other option is to outrange them. If you get on grid at a good distance in a cruiser specifically tooled for sniping frigates you can probably smoke one or both of them before they even get to you. They would be foolish to engage that sort of target though.

I'm seriously considering training into Amarr in a more dedicated way. I'm already trying to find excuses to get into those hulls because I love the way they look. But it's hard to let go of projectiles and how easy they are to fit and how they don't need cap to fire (although admittedly that hasn't been relevant in my deaths)
Like, my dragoon fit will run autocannons because it doesn't get laser bonuses anyway.
I would like nothing more than to get a squad together to frag the pirate gangs that are specifically just looking to kill solo novice farmers, but I don't know very many people in the game not tied up in null, so... trying to plan ways to do it alone.
I was definitely not expecting my Rifter to beat those guys. I was just thinking if there was anything I could squeeze into a small site that might have a chance of beating a faction frig duo.
It's a fun casual topic for me to pursue because I know that I can log on in highsec on any given weekday, and within 30 minutes I'm 1AU away from pirates who are going to try to get at me.

In a rifter I don't think so, if I were specifically going to try to hit those guys, maybe a kestrel with light missiles. I'd try to just stay at range and lob at them from 30-40km out, it might not kill them but you could scare them away.
edit: also amarr are the best so theres that too.

i like them because all their hulls look like some sort of gothic decorative soap (???)
i dont have a technical reason for liking them
Oh, they definitely have some awesome looking hulls. I just don't care for their policies regarding slave rights, and when I started I thought Minmatar were awesome Reavers.
"I will write your name in the ruin of them. I will paint you across history in the color of their blood."
cool, made a super dank punisher fit and the fights are instantly going better. lasers are going better for me with being able to effortlessly swap ammo based on the situation, and I can sell out for full blown armor tank
long live the empire

Just ask, how many slave children died to build you that ship.
But in all seriousness, I'm glad its going well for you. Have you run into your Faction Frig Friends in it yet? Just sort of curious how it turned out.

no they werent around, i got some 1v1s against T1 frigs, and I lost but only narrowly... and considering I wasn't running any tech 2 gear at all (and they were), my amarr skills are under-trained, and i forgot to heat anything, I'm feeling pretty good that this ship is more my style.
in solo minmatar frigs I felt that my chance of victory was tied directly to having the exact right ammo for my opponent already chambered, because in T1 i would be dead before any reload could happen (particularly against kiters)
even with pulse lasers, i have massively more flexibility with falloff and optimal ranges than I had with autocannons, and my tracking is still completely fine. so I lost access to kinetic/explosive damage, but I am able to easily supplement it by optimizing my damage application with attention to ammo choice... and a 6k passive tank gives me time for it to matter (best rifter tank was barely 4k)

Yeah, I've always struggled with how ineffective projectiles feel, and my unwillingness to switch ships.
"I will write your name in the ruin of them. I will paint you across history in the color of their blood."
soloed a destroyer down to its hull 8-) and STILL forgot to overheat my guns. might have been closer. im gonna put 50 sticky notes on my monitor because i keep forgetting
once i start putting on tech 2 gear ill be in the zone
not sure what to do against nuets though... at least not sure what to do in a frigate hull. there's just not enough slots to fit the things you need AND a cap booster
yeah I might work it in once I finish all my energy turret skills. i dont think I can afford the DPS loss yet. It probably won't work miracles, but it would at least let me shoot.

The correct answer to neuts is projectiles.

Command destroyers are insane at changing the way fights go. The Galmil fleet I was in deliberately overshipped to fight a pirate gang because we wanted them out of the way quickly. We confidently waltzed into the fight only to have half half of our fleet jumped 150 km away with all of the enemy , leaving the logi behind. We only won after the other side messed up on the follow up jump. Made a video documenting the whole thing in real time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxu4KRI9F2w
Since NCdock have decided that their future lies in failing to farm TEST in Tribute, we've helpfully offered to look after their R64s in Cloud Ring. It's all about being good neighbours, people. Who have you helped today?
TIL random citadels in highsec seem to heal you when you get near them... saves me a lot of repair money!
Yep. They're repair damaged modules and top up your cap and shield too. You just have to tether and wait a minute.
Meanwhile NCdocke tried to save their R64 by trying to clog our launchers with PH Hurricanes, but then ran off as soon as we ran out of 'canes and started shooting their T3s.

Neat. What was the final decision on the difference between f2p and sub?
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Unless its changed since I last read it, it is similar to a trial account in its restrictions. But, I can finally put around with the MRCHI crew without having to spend real money. And since I think I'll have access to contracts, I can work towards building more capital to start plexing again.

Plexing from an Alpha could be painful unless you are a market wizard, without a carrier to sit in I think the couple hours at real job is a better use of time :P
Essentially you are restricted to T1 cruisers, T1/Meta/faction modules and the most basic industrials. What lengths the big alliances go to accommodate the new players remains to be seen but everyone is pretty excited. I look forward to helping out some newbies
I'm not sure if salvaging is an alpha skill, but I would assume so. You can definitely run multiple clients on the same PC, I did it with my long forgotten alt account while having one of my omega accounts online.

well i know that, but I meant in a more improvisational way

Good times in Cloud Ring. Was a bit nerve-wrecking having 50 Culture on overview, but we were less red to them than PL & Snuff, it seems.
Actually I am still using the Rattlesnake I bought when we first deployed to Syndicate back in March. It is a lucky ship for sure!
I know it's cheap of me but this is funny as hell.

Was thinking of making a salvaging account to clean up after my mission running one.

tl;dr: no. Alphas are subject a similar restriction to trial accounts, for similar reasons.
