Rome Total War Help

So, I tried making this thread before in H/A, but had no luck, so I pretty much gave up. However, I am at it again, and thought maybe G&T could help me this time.

I used to play RTW all the time, and modded it a fair amount. I did the usual "unlock all the factions", played Rome Total Realism, modded some of the buildings, and I never had a problem playing. Well, I remember several months ago I would try to play, but it would get stuck on the "Activision" screen on startup. I tried several clean installs, making sure any extra files left after the uninstall were deleted, but it still wouldn't work. Well, recently I installed it and tried again. Before I even started playing I unlocked all the factions, modded a few of the buildings, and thats it. I played for awhile with no problem, then quit. The next day I start it back up, and sure enough, it got stuck on the Activision screen. Currently I am doing a fresh install, won't mod it at all, and try to start it up a few times to see if it will work. Assuming it doesn't (and I have a sinking feeling it won't), anyone have any ideas to get it working? Thanks.

Have you tried installing the latest patch before you start playing? And, out of curiousity, in what way are you modding the buildings?

...and I thought of how all those people died, and what a good death that is. That nobody can blame you for it, because everyone else died along with you, and it is the fault of none, save those who did the killing.

I'd give the roads a happiness bonus to avoid squalor, because I preferred leading my armies rather than managing my cities.

When you put the happiness on roads, everyone gets non-rebelling cities.

I always preferred to choose a temple that my faction uses, and delete every other faction's name from the list of people that can build it, and add tons of happiness to it. That way, only I get the bonus.

Bonus points for making the Spartans invincible when playing as Greece.
