    Tarantino can't film a chase scene.

    And the dialogue was bad, even for him.

    But seriously, Planet Terror was great.

    It's dumb because that's the damn point, it's an homage to the old grindhouse films from back in the day.

    It's hammy acting, grossly over the top violence, with a dash of sexploitation.

    And its got zombies.

    Saw it today. Planet Terror was a lot gorier than I expected. I think I am the only person on the planet who enjoyed Death Proof, but even I think it needed far more left on the cutting room floor, specifically most of the pointless banter at the beginning.

    If Tarantino had trimmed the fat at the beginning, the end result would have been a lot shorter but far more satisfying. It kind of seemed like Tarantino had a much shorter movie in mind, saw the length on Planet Terror, and suddenly felt compelled to make Death Proof into something resembling a full-length.

    Overall, worth seeing if you like the directors, just don't sit down expecting something incredible. I had a good time though.

    Edit: I can't remember movie titles, hooray.

    I really liked it. Like, a lot.

    PLANET TERROR felt like an homage to cheese, such as SHAUN OF THE DEAD. Look for Michael Bhein screaming things awesomely.

    DEATH PROOF was an excercise in actually recreating the feel of watching a grindhouse film, hence lots of dialouge and weird pacing. The chase scenes had my knuckles whiter than........very white things.

    Which is why they put Planet Terror first so you can watch all the awesome plus the amazing fake trailers and leave before Death Proof if you feel compelled to do so.

    @Dublo: Planet Terror (which you're referring to) is the Rodriguez half of Grindhouse, not Tarantino. It's also the better half.
