I hope I at least eventually get the rewards I backed for. Still got Bloodstained to pull up confidence in "big name Japanese indie developers" I guess.
What online features were offered and why wouldn't they just do a day one patch to turn them of until they fixed them? They couldn't be that vital to gameplay.
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

The Beck & Call online co-op mode. Also remember they have to make it work for PC, PS4, PS3, 360, Xbone, Wii U, 3DS, Vita versions...

Remember all the rationale in the Red Ash campaign for no console version? "Difficult and expensive certification processes" or something along those lines. Most likely Microsoft and/or Sony did not certify the game due to the online issues.
That's just someone from the forums? Also tons of games says they are not being delayed when they are.
It's a mod from the backer only forums, not just a random guy. I really doubt @Raiden333 (and all the people posting like this all over the web) is going to post "I was wrong to label them with such harsh terms over an unconfirmed rumor" if the game comes out on time.
Considering the stakes, challenge accepted.
Edit: But if I win, you have to do all my chores for a WEEK!
Announcing the delay after the Kickstarter for Red Ash finished is pretty shady. They knew about this beforehand and they should have been up front with the backers and tell them. I say this as someone who's favorite series is Mega Man and as someone who backed this project but I really hope that they get reported en-masse to Kickstarter and that they come down on them hard.

For what? Being "kind of shady looking" is not against the Kickstarter TOS. (Pretty sure that would exclude half the Kickstarters out there :P)
Also, I don't think it's been mentioned that FUZE, the new publisher of Red Ash, is really fucking shady.
They're also coming out with their own game console! In June 2015! Woops.
I noticed that the other day and considered saying something about it. For extra shadiness, the art is actually from other artists works. Used without permission, naturally.
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
Now we get to look forward to the next new project announcement. I'm excited by the possibilities.
Beck in yet another cameo? A free to play version of one of the games? MN9 comic or manga? A spinoff maybe? I'd expect something like a Call dating sim or dressup game, probably for cellphones. A nice puzzle game cash grab would be amazing. It seems almost certain that Red Ash will go back up on Kickstarter asking for a lower amount of money just for the DLC stuff.
Of course, them blatantly asking for more money to get MN9 out faster is the dream scenario here.
Barring MN9 turning into an absolute smash success this side of Shovel Knight (and I'm increasingly doubtful that'll happen now), their Kickstarter days are over. Maybe they really weren't trying to look all skeevy as shit, but to everybody, they looked skeevy as shit.

"Sir, I just had a great idea for a mobile game. Match 3 games are all the rage with the kids these days. What if we make, and bear with me here... A match 9."
"Johnson, you're a genius. I'm gonna kickstart you a raise."
Yeeeeaaaah they've really lost all the kickstarter goodwill they earned at the beginning of MN9
I mean, ultimately i'm still going to get the game that I backed- which is okay, and i'm used to Kickstarter delays (and really from everything i've seen the game will actually be fun to play) but man everything surrounding this seems skeevy now
Random Observation: Mega Man's guantlet design for his forearms and hands is also used by most of the bosses in the first Mega Man game and a few in the second. After that nearly every boss has forearm armor that is separate from the hands. Mega Man's Smash Bros redesign finally updates his forearm parts to be more like every other robot master from MM3 onward while also giving his shins and feet a similar design.
Indeed, though this is something some artists such as Hitoshi Ariga and the people at Ruby Spears have done as well.

Well, now I feel better about canceling my Amazon Mighty No. 9 preorder. I'll have MGSV and Persona 4: DAN to keep me busy. I'll just download the game on PSN if it ends up being good.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
It really sounds like this delay is pretty much "oh shit, reaction's meh, we better polish the shit out of this," because six months is a loooooooong time for bugfixes, especially for a game of this size.
Yeah network problems can't take that long to fix. He claims the game is 100% done single player and they ran into issues with the multiplayer aspects... But really it shouldn't take 6-9 months to get those fixed.

I mean, it could also be due to getting the games certified on xb live/psn/eshop/steam (I have no idea what the lead time for those is like) and there's certain times to get them in by for them to come out... and they don't know how long it will take to get fixed across all platforms.

Still, who the hell knows
From interview:
In order for us to just give out the single-player... It's difficult to explain this in short terms. When you're submitting a game to the platforms, there's a testing, an approval process for PlayStation, Xbox, all that stuff. The way it is, you have to submit the product. If we were to give out the game to backers, they have to choose their platform. Either way, we have to go through that approval process for us to give that to the backers.
Like I said before. It's the certification process, which I have anticdotally heard is long and annoying. I don't think it's going to take them that long to fix the bug, but then they have to hand the code over to MS and Sony for approval which could take months (I suspect they don't know exactly). So they threw out Q1 2016 as a "safe" date. Based on that interview it sounds like they hope it will be much sooner than that.
To take a quick break from the depressing Mighty No. 9/Red Ash news...
The last issue of the Archie Mega Man comic before the hiatus (and I'm hopefully it really is just a hiatus, seeing as the press releases have consistently referred to it as such, not to mention that the Archie team definitely has a deep love for Mega Man as evidenced by their frequent references to obscure trivia) is apparently about Dr. Light traveling through time and witnessing the worlds of Mega Man X, Mega Man Zero, Mega Man ZX, and Mega Man Legends.
I'm also amused by how much mileage the Archie comics team has gotten out of the Chronos Institute mentioned in Mega Man 2 for Game Boy. The time travel element in that game's story always seemed weird and ultimately pointless considering how unimportant Quint was and how it was never used for any other purpose, but so far the Archie comic has used it at least twice that I'm aware of.
I just read an interview with the Mega Man comic team on Comics Alliance, and now I'm not certain what to think about its future. They don't seem certain as to how long this "hiatus" will be, but even stranger is the fact that they act like they won't get to adapt Mega Man 4 (which was the next game for them to adapt) and they won't get to use their original characters again.
My best guess at the moment is that Capcom might want Archie Comics to reboot the Mega Man comic to tie-in with the planned cartoon.
I think this is more on Studio4C than Inafune. The Japanese animation industry is infamous for relying on merchandising to just break even, so these guys are experimenting with crowdfunding as an alternative. They've apparently also set up a crowdfunding site just for their company since Kickstarter isn't as well known in Japan.
Also, jeez, so what? Are you guys against Patreon, too? It's not like they're stealing from anybody.

Crowdfunding is great! They're not doing it right.
Like, the idea is you give people money and they will hopefully use it to make something you want. These dudes have taken the money, delayed the thing, asked for more money for a new thing under false pretenses, got money for a side project to the new thing, delayed the original thing again, and now they're asking for more money for the side project of the new thing, without y'know, releasing the original thing they got crowdfunded.
Wow am I glad I never got involved with crowd funding. That might sound harsh but it's how I feel.
I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU!!!

I've backed a couple, all delayed. One, "Adventures of Pip" has been delayed repeatedly, most recently they promised the download codes would be out on the 10th, still no sign. But hey, that's fine! They're not asking me for more money to make some other thing. :P
Oh brilliant

...is Inafune TRYING to burn through every last scrap of goodwill he's earned over the last three decades?
.... they said they were going to do that from the beginning. No different from *every single kickstarter* that starts up a paypal fund after the kickstarter ends. I don't see the big deal... hell, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero hit like three more stretch goals after the kickstarter ended...

Yeah... you were right on this one. Hopefully the game, when it exists in the far off future, is at least fun after all this shit.
And now Capcom's Mega Man Legacy Collection thing enters the market unopposed.
I noticed that the other day and considered saying something about it. For extra shadiness, the art is actually from other artists works. Used without permission, naturally.
I thought it was really appropriate for a nigh-copyright infringing megaman knockoff game to be published by a shady Chinese company~

well good, they should
if the game is as good as they say, I'm sure people will change their tunes come next year, but until then they're gonna get stink eye from the public
