Lets let Atlus explain it:
Monsters have invaded the world of Aterra, and only a few special individuals, imbued with the power of the Star God, are equipped to fight it. With only a small group of warriors and a narrow window of time in which their powers are at their peak, the solution is clear: combine your Star power to make magical Star Children to boost up your forces in battle!
The life of a student can be complicated when you're exploring dungeons, fighting monsters, AND trying to maintain a high school lifestyle. Learn to balance your activities because the deeper the bond you have with your classmates, the stronger the Star Children you'll make! In this stimulating JRPG, you'll be able to create bonds with 7 different female Disciples and create 30 classes of Star Children, so you must learn how to create the perfect Star Children for any situation. In no time, you'll have dozens of powerful kids with different skills that can take on everything the monsters throw at you.
Ok, how about that in English?
It's a console roguelike-lite with mechanics similar to Perosna's S-link system. Your hero has to work on his relationship with several girls to make "star children" - short and cute bioweapons -- in order to fight off monsters. Besides the main character and whichever girl he's dating at the time, your party gets 3 groups of 3 star children NPCs with them, expanding the strategy element immensely. Star Children can be any of 30 classes, most of which are unlocked as you play the game.
Plot wise, the heroines are the powerhouses, but they need Ether to do anything -- and the hero is the only source of Ether in the dungeon.
April 15th for Vita and 3DS in the US; it will be on the eShops in Europe in Q2. A demo is available now.

My
God
If I'm understanding the wiki correctly, your star children get a significant portion of their stats from Mommy.
Then you aren't reading those screen caps.
It's not as bad as you think! Some of it is pretty dumb, but the combat is fun and OMG the kids are flippin' cute a hell.
It's just fucking insane.
I've had the game pre-ordered for a long time.
I personally don't think a tongue in cheek double entente in a screenshot over a rather absurdest premise is all that shocking (hell, the children come out of RICE COOKERS after the act) but then again, I've translated Japanese comics in my spare time for 10 years, so my bar is a bit high for shock value nowadays.
I dislike the draft saver.
And I don't doubt them a bit. This is absolute Insane Cake with Crazy Sauce. There's plenty to take the absolute worst way possible and I don't fault anyone for going that route. You're literally sexing up as many women as possible, as many at the same time as you can, so they "make babies" that you literally use as battle fodder. The game is BUILT on the premise, it's not just one double entendre screenshot.
I mean.
C'mon.
The only saving grace is it's SO dang nuts that it literally goes into parody for me even tho I know dang well it's not. This is one of those games I buy just so I can see the expression on peoples' faces when they ask me what I'm playing.
i'ma rice cook muh behbeh
Paste that onto the opening video.
Its about as harem anime as harem anime gets, and they aren't afraid of double entendre-ing the classmating system any chance that comes along(which gets pretty damn funny at times), but the game doesn't otherwise appear to carry anything that seems to be particularly offensive - at least insofar as anything that might offend me anyway(which is admittedly a markedly small list). Some of the skimpy female battle outfits might put some people off though.
I believe they also make it a point to explain that the star children are not actually human children so much as spirits of battle that are constructed(? They don't explain much past this) through the process of the protagonist and his partner fueling the matroyoshkvashama dealie with their powers.
It's actually a pretty damn fun game so far even if it is a little shounen-typical at times.
Worthy of it's M rating.
EDIT: also want to make a point that the hand-holding (no pun intended) at the start of the game is kind of silly. The tutorials are easy enough to skip but I feel like the first dungeon is a big care-bear package wrapped in bubble-wrap and nerf-foam... also while not having time limits on stuff is nice; resetting the "hearts" that you can spend to get bond points and make the heroines like you more seems kind of cheesy, especially since that directly helps you get more and better star children... but I'm probably exaggerating it. Only serious problem is having to switch out heroines so they don't fall behind in levels.

Er, I think I passed this point a bit ago (I'm playing it REALLY slowly due to RL stuff) but I think they changed "make children" to "classmating." The pun really makes it less ... controversial and more derp.
Also, I'm not finding any heroine weapon parts anywhere. That's how it works, right? Heroines don't get new weapons, but you can find upgrades for them?
I find myself wishing they had left it as it was. Offense aside, that's some funny shit.

Does anyone have a recommendation that could tilt me one way or another?
Like P4G, the dungeons are very clearly its weak point. They basically amount to "hallway, room. Hallway, room." and tend to drag on more than they should. One thing I do like is that they adopt the Earthbound method of encounters where you kill weak enemies outright and still get full exp for it.
But unlike P4G, while the social interactions are interesting, they're not extensive or interactive enough(so far anyway, I'm still on chapter 2) for you to ignore the rest of the game's problems.
Game's pretty though. And the star children are "totes adorbs". But I'd say it's firmly in "good, but not great" territory overall.
Let me put it this way, it's as if Persona 4 had been developed by Juggz magazine.
That being said, I'm enjoying it. The dungeons are pretty bog standard but you can at least leave every floor to poke around in town. I basically just rush a few floors, go back, do some scenes, go back and do a few floors. Swap out star children when they hit level cap.
It isn't great but I don't regret buying it, its charming.
This is a carbon copy pf P4. It's not just "dating dungeon crawler" the star children work effectively the same as Personas, the combat is crazy similar the only difference being positioning of your attack and if those jiggle tits and constant reference to boob size is "charming" then we have violently different definitions of the word.
That's the main difference it has to P4, this game lacks any kind of class whatsoever.
It has far, far more in common with Azure Dreams and other games in the genre.

The title of the game is Conception. Why are you surprised at what you got?
I think it's a fun, silly, and yeah a bit charming of a game. I enjoy the dungeon stuff and the not-dungeon stuff. (The dungeon designs themselves do get boring though.) I've been playing Demon Gaze more, but I'm going to get back into it a bit this weekend, I think.
