I really like the Walkmen! I saw them a few years ago with Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes. I especially love their most recent album.
Jealous as fuck.
Fleet foxes are my number one band A-ok USA GO!
Yeah they were the band we really wanted to see that night. They were sooooo good live. Their harmonies just make my insides melt, but I'm a big sucker for some great vocal harmonies.

Father John Misty is my hero. That is all the opinion I can offer on fleet foxes
I saw Fleet Foxes at Lollapalooza one year. The crowd was oddly small and we were very close to the stage. Robin Pecknold winked at my girlfriend, and then he and I shared a big laugh when she got all embarrassed. He was getting over a flu and was like "I'm sorry if this sucks but here it goes."
And then he fucking nailed that performance. They all did, the whole band was amazing live.
Fleet Foxes will always be one of my favorite bands if only for the memory of that show.

For similar reasons, I'll always love Radical Face. We were right up at the front for a small show in Bristol last year, they kept apologising all the way through for being pretty rough and the cellist hadn't played with the rest of the band before that night, there were two occasions where technical failures required improvised entertainment while things got sorted, and at one point a chair exploded leaving said new cellist splayed on his back like a turtle. Sounds like a comedy of errors, but the atmosphere was so much fun and the music was incredible.
I got an early bird pass for weekend one of ACL only to find out the weekend 2 lineup is better ><

Thanks for mentioning Radical Face! I hadn't listened to them before today. Good stuff.
You have chosen wisely.
It's weird, I wouldn't have given the Family Tree albums a chance if I'd bothered to read the description first, since a period concept album about a fictitious cast of people from the same bloodline, is hardly something that sets my curiosities aflame. But firstly the guy writes music that I just need to hear, and I love that he actually writes a good song from the perspective of a person in a situation, as if they themselves are all really talented songwriters. There's been so many times I've heard things that could match that description that are just an emotionless list of events with no poetry behind them.

I am going to Loufest in september! Outkast and Arctic Monkeys are headlining. I am turgid with anticipation for both of them. Portugal the Man should be cool too.
There's a new EP that Royksopp and Robyn have put together. It's streaming at the NPR First Listen site right now (linky). I'm only barely through the first track, but so far not what I was expecting. To be fair, I'm not sure what I was expecting.
Edit: Accidental find was the new Lee Fields & The Expressions (also on First Listen) and gottdamn. Swank.
If you like old school R&B/Soul stuff, it is so good, doggies. (other linky)
I saw St Vincent last night, it's crazy that she flew down to Australia so soon after SNL but whatever
three observations:
one: she is the prettiest lady in the whole wide world
two: holy shit can she shred, she busted out this tapping solo during Rattlesnake that blew me away
three: she has this very serious, aloof stage persona, and she talks to the audience now and then about 'things we have in common.' picture a very aloof fairy-tale narrator. she said 'your family gave you a nickname, and yours was Kangaroo' and I yelled out 'THAT'S RACIST' and she just cracked this HUGE smile at me and burst out laughing with the rest of the crowd and I melted a little

I'm not 100% that this belongs in this thread, but it seemed like the most apt place for it. A clear as day recording of a radio show from 1964 featuring bluesmen Mississippi John Hurt and Skip James, talking and playing some songs, and it's just incredible you guys.
Went out camping with some coworkers this weekend. Wife and I bought one of those wireless speakers, a "Braven" thing. It's got 10 hours of battery life (when using bluetooth, I think it might get up to 15 without it), can go off bluetooth or aux to aux. It worked really well to provide some music for our campsite. I was really impressed with the amount of volume you could eek out of it before it would start distorting.
But that's not the point.
I apparently blew the mind of one of the DJ's we were with. Every time a song came on she'd go:
"Who's this?"
"Um.... I don't know... Band of Horses? Yeah. This is one of the many songs which didn't appear in a TV show."
"Awesome. I've never heard anything but their hits."
...
"Who's this?"
"Nico Vega."
*Scribble scribble*
...
"Who's this?"
"Huh? This is the Dawes, this first album is great, you should check it out."
"I will! I've only heard their latest stuff..."
It was hilarious. She also hadn't heard of a Music Map, and when I explained how it helped find new music I could almost see the explosion in her eyes.

They change timing and key every fifteen measures in other songs.

Oh man, they're great too! I'd love to see them live. If I could get Fleet Foxes to co-headline with Radical Face, it'd be the best show ever.

if you haven't heard of Autre Ne Veut, misc, you should check him out--I always think of him like the hyper-energized version of HTDW
a (large) part of it is probably that white boy falsetto they both got goin on
Sometimes I am in a real place of "I want to listen to Murder City Devils but NOT them," for example
And that always leads to a whole evening wasted on internet detective haunting
