He's got a full band now but still does some of the solo stuff during his sets, but no album and only a couple singles at the moment. Saw him at ACL last year. I'm a sucker for bluesy rock so I'm looking forward to seeing if there's any new stuff since then. The cover of The Chain at 10:30 in particular is awesome.
Metz, any time Whitney comes on at work, basically the whole staff is singing along. sigh. Whitney.
this is a pretty catchy example of trap, i think.

and zomg the video for Bubble Butt is ridic NSFW. i like the song on the pre-release, tho.
(I linked each video to the start of the songs, but the interview clips at the start are pretty good, especially the feeling of a 20-year old talking about recording an album in Studio A at Capitol Studios)
Edit: I tried to link to the start of each song, but it doesn't seem to be working. Skip to 2:13 for the first one, 1:26 for the second, 0:54 for the third.

"Band in a garage" style stuff, three dudes with a drum set and an electric guitar.
A real identifiable example would be Foo Fighters.
Anyone got any non-experimental rock suggestions? I'm getting a little burnt out on "odd" music, sometimes I just want to hear some dudes rock and roll.

This isn't necessarily rock or new since it came out last year, but it's been in heavy rotation in my house: Tired Pony. It's a side-project from Gary Lightbody and Iain Archer (Snow Patrol), Jacknife Lee (usually a producer, who's credits include: everyone and their dog), Peter Buck (REM), Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows) and Richard Colburn (Belle & Sebastian). I dunno. It scratches an itch lately.
Also listening to these guys today - Line & Circle - who stick me right in my soft spot for eighties/early-nineties alternative sensibilities. There's something very REM-y/Echo & the Bunnymen-ish/XTC-esque going on that I particularly enjoy and makes me a little nostalgic.

Clutch.
Oh I should have posted examples but I'm on my phone, but basically anything from the Blast Tyrant album (my favorite of theirs) up to their new stuff is straightforward rock and roll or blues rock done perfectly.
They're probably most known for the song Electric Worry, but not all their stuff sounds like that.

for anyone unfamiliar with Chromeo, allow me to quote their bio from CBC Music:
Crossing the Gaza Strip of Sexxx Jams
Chromeo is Pee Thug and Dave 1: best friends since their Montreal adolescence, virtuoso musicians, walking hip hop encyclopedias, and the only successful Arab/Jew partnership since the dawn of human culture.
As Chromeo, they fuse their penchants for two sorely missed musical genres into a wholly new thing. Pee, the brown-skinned Quebecois street tough, brings analog synth basslines and drum machine wizardry à la Cameo and Prince. Dave, the Semitic bookworm (currently earning his Ph.D. in French Lit at Columbia), contributes melodic tales of urban romance that would make Phil Collins shed a tear. Together, their blend of rigorously catchy song structures, memorable hooks and twirling guitar solos conjures up images of a sophisticated, thugged-out Hall & Oates (except you don't secretly suspect that they make out).
Indeed, Chromeo's mission is to make slick-ass lover's funk with nary a trace of irony. That's right - no fucking irony. These guys are to Rockwell what Andrew WK is to Meatloaf. And don't call it easy retro, either. Dave 1 attests: "Sure our sound is vintage and danceable. Sure all our songs talk about girls. But we're so passionate about it that it's not even funny anymore."

I might have posted this before, elsewhere, in some other context, but I've recently rediscovered You Are Listening To
It layers police scanners (or air traffic control, or number stations) from various cities over ambient electronica music. Super neat, kinda creepy, great to write to in the middle of the night.

I had to go to work before I finished listening though
But since I normally think cover albums are shit butts in general the first half of this one was a welcome surprise

And who doesn't like a japanese doom metal band where all the songs are about mass murderers and serial killers.

Man, thanks for turning me on to Scorpion Child. This is some awesome shit, gives me a Led Zep vibe.
With things looking up in my career lately, I've had this song on my mind a lot lately
Such a good song for when you're feeling awesome and shit's going well.
