They are working on a solution to move to a bigger venue: The Seattle convention center after the expansion
Are they really working on an expansion? That would be super awesome, though I'd imagine it would be a while.
No set date for the construction, or completion; but the purchased properties would almost double the amount of available space.
Thanks for that. I definitely hadn't heard about this project though I don't pay too much attention to Seattle news. That expansion is definitely needed. Hope it gets going soon.
Chances are we will be waiting at the computer anyway. :-) I hope it is before Thursday because I am going on a camping trip that day. I will probably reschedule the trip since we won't have wifi.
The worst is refreshing the registration page, having a very slight delay with the page coming up and in that second, the brain immediately starting to scream 'this is it!!!'

For me, it's how the page still loads a nice "SOLD OUT" banner in the middle of the page.
I'm hoping the site is updated this Tuesday and the tickets go on sale on Wednesday. Then, I can take Wednesday off work, buy PAX badges without the requirement of putting on pants for the day, and then go back to bed so I can enter a blissful sleep, no longer worrying about missing the sale.
Pins for trade!

Just a little heads up for PaxPeeps, you will need to have been an "active" Reddit user for a couple of weeks, and some other requirements before they can enter the contest.
So I was in the hot tub with Mrs. SanDogWeps the other night. She is not one to attend our hallowed event, but is also not one to begrudge me my trip to Seattle from San Diego every year. This year was the first year I refused to attempt to purchase ComiCon tickets - I have sworn it off as ruined by Hollywood.
She asked me a pretty legitimate question when I told her about all of us camping the Prime site: "So when are you going to wind up doing the same thing with PAX when it gets too big?"
My simple response: "Probably never - Because Brad Pitt is never going to attend PAX." The longer explanation: "PAX has added more events as volume has required. So they are handling demand in a fashion that ComicCon won't. Further, historically, Hollywood and the Game Industry don't typically get along terribly well (I know - this is a broad brushstroke statement), as every hour spent in front of a console playing a game is an hour not spent in a movie theater or watching ABC." She said "Huh - that statement actually makes sense." I called it a win, as rarely do I make any sense to her about such things.
Not really germane to our F5 mashing perhaps, but thought I would season the stew a bit...
I...I may actually be starting to get a glimmer of hope that these things won't go on sale until I'm home. Of course, I've probably just super cursed that.

Thank you sooooo much TOGSolid because the wait to book things like hotels has been killing me

I'm so hoping that tickets either go on sale tomorrow or not until next week. I'm leaving for Disneyland really early Wednesday morning for four days and have a bad feeling they will go on sale then... I'll probably be that crazy girl on her phone trying to buy PAX badges while eating a churro.
I suppose there are worse ways to find yourself attempting to buy PAX badges... and hey, if I don't get them, at least I'll be in Disneyland to console myself.
Cool! That is how MinCon did it. It seemed to work well, but I think for something like this, there will always be people not getting tickets.
I heard it went horribly.
There was something like three batches of 2500, but each batch sold out insanely fast. As scary as PAX's "random" ticket dropping is, I'd much prefer that over a contest of "who has the fastest refresh speeds?"

PAX '12 when tickets went on sale for the second time after the servers went down I was in line for big thunder when tickets went on sale and i managed to get em on my phone, so it can be done!

If I recall correctly, Dragon*Con tickets also sell at about the same time as PAX tickets as well. However that is a con that is also on Labor Day, so I know for a fact none of us are going to that.
Yes, and I'm proposing a solution to help with that, that they came up with themselves: a fourth day. It's just that they made it mostly pointless by pushing people to go all 4 days rather than allowing more people to go to PAX. I'm sure a lot of people buying those 4 day passes don't even end up going all 4 days. I'm not saying don't let people go all four days, I'm saying don't push people to do it, don't pay people to go against the entire reason the day was added. Make it be more of a hassle, not less.
I agree, there's no reason a 4-day pass should be cheaper than the sum of the 4 days. That defeats the purpose. It was a nice incentive for increased attendance when PAX was small, but it's counterproductive now.
That being said, for those us who want to do BYOC, it doesn't make sense to attend fewer days. We especially don't want to lose access to our rigs for the middle days (Sat/Sun) which are the tickets that sell out the fastest. BYOC has felt a little sparsely populated of late, and I think part of the problem is that the quickest ticket buyers aren't necessarily the ones who want to bring their computers. If we could guarantee attendance somehow, I'd prefer BYOC registration be a little earlier and come bundled with a 4-day pass (like what they offer for PAX Dev). But I can't think of a good way to keep people from abusing such a system to get passes early without actually participating in BYOC.
So, not to compare, but Blizzcon tickets go on sale this week. They were announced way ahead of time and there are two windows.
They always announce way ahead of time tickets sell out in seconds - literally you refresh too slow you ain't getting them at least with PAX if your a few seconds slower (and longer than that) you still have a chance to get 1 day tickets
oh and blizzard have decided this year to use EventBrite for ticket sales rather than killing their own website - with everyone going into a waiting room once they have clicked the button at that all important F5 mashing point ..... so lets see how much of a clustercludge THAT turns out to be - anyhoos' back to the PAX Prime rumours and speculations
So I was looking at the blizzcon ticket sales info for 2014 and I saw that they require an email along with 4 names of those that will be attending and require photo id. Atleast they learned how to deal with scalpers.

They also have incredible lines to pick up tickets at the event. I don't know if they fixed that, but it was true early on at least.

Hum, wonder if they will try to skip this week because of that. Anyway, I'm walking around work with 2 phones lately, just in case.
My router went down last night, I did my part to have them on sale this morning.
