What is this notification bar icon and how do I get rid of it?

So I was fiddling around with my phone's language and keyboard settings last night, and somehow this notification bar icon resulted:

Anyone know what this icon is trying to tell me and how to get rid of it? My notification bar is crowded enough as it is. It's an HTC One X with Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5.

    That's for hearing aid compatibility mode. I believe you can turn it off in call settings.
