Do you get The Merch pin if you buy things online, or is it only for PAX based purchases?

Only at PAX, but it should be around for a few PAXen.

They do occasionally make it available as a purchase incentive for the online store, but it's usually just around the holidays.

Yea, they usually did it around Christmas.

edit: The first Merch wasn't too sought after, was it?

No, it wasn't really. Which I find funny, because while it was given free of charge, you still had to drop $100 to have one in your hand.

I found it weird that they had them on the tables at the trading event. I picked up an extra 2. :-X

Christmas 2012 is when i got my merch pin, also was the first pin they released, before the core set

I was just planning on ordering some stuff from the store. I wanted to see if I needed to push my order over the 100$ mark for an extra Merch 2.0 pin or if I could just buy what I wanted.

They usually announce it/ put a note on the store homepage if they are doing a merch pin promotion so I'd say just buy the stuff you want.

Historically Merch Pins are only with Christmas orders. But the staff do sometimes change things around.
