I knew it was only a matter of time before Gabe and Tycho went the different colored nose route. It's been in all of the other character designs the last few years.
I guess this was a reference to the original series Star Trek episode "Court Martial" which Capt. Kirk is put on trial for ejecting a crewman into space without warning him.

Um, no, it's a reference to the game FTL. As indicated in the first line of the first panel, and also by the title.

Or, it's a reference to the game FTL, where you vent people into space ALL THE TIME. It's one way of putting out ship fires or fending off boarding space pirates.

Nah, nah. It's broken blood vessels in his ears and nose from being exposed to the vacuum of space repeatedly. It's something every crew member in FTL deals with from time to time.
The flounder-mouth, on the other hand, defies medical explanation.

Sometimes the only way to survive the eternal emptiness of the vastness of space is to jettison people into it until it's no longer empty.

Now this is pretty low end on the spectrum of evil you can do in FTL. You have not lived until you've killed an enemy ship to a man, set the ship on fire, laughed maniacally as you wait for the fire to reach that last guy, and then see the fire destroy the life support, which puts out the fire and the guy suffocates instead.
Honestly, they picked the wrong possible act of evil to use for this comic.

Great FTL comic; reading the comic with a Zap Brannigan voice enhances my enjoyment tremendously

There should've been some kind of reference to cloning bays. A background accent or something, to make it obvious HR was having to fill out a LOT more paperwork than even that implies.

I think you guys (you and the guy below you) are missing something here: Can't it be both?

Or as we call it in FTL, "Tuesday."
You only airlock the crew one day a week?
That's only like 14% of possible airlocking time!

On my ship, every day is a Tuesday. Got special calendars printed up and everything.
Why couldn't you have murdered an entire pirate crew and take the slaves for yourself?
Also, I personally think throwing bodies at other bodies is better than binning them when trying to put out a fire.
So yay for clones.

Looks like I was wrong. And I'm thankful for it.

This strip has definitely upped my need to.
