Definitely going with Yu, Mitsuru, Yukiko, Naoto and Junpei/Kanji for my first run. I'll probably use Junpei just to weight things a little less heavily towards the P4 side.
I'll probably be running Yu, Kanji, Chie, and Yukari. Not sure who the fifth will be. I want to take Junpei, but man that will be a physical heavy team.
If I was totally honest with myself, I'd just take Yu, Kanji, Chie, Yukiko, and Yosuke, but I figure I should give the Persona 3 losers characters some representation too.
So you can make a party of any of the P3/P4 characters? Well then, I would definitely take the three best and most beloved characters: Aigis, Ken, and Koromaru. After that it's a tossup.

Movie starts with Yukari's shower scene, and ends with Aragaki's funeral. Some minor changes along the way (Aegis joins up when shadows attack Yukari and Makoto during the talk they have after Yukari finds out about her father, Makoto moves in to Amada's dorm for all of five minutes to protect him from shadows at night before he joins up, etc.), but the only significant change is of course Makoto now having a personality- To be precise he slightly feels that Strega is right, and that it's thanks to shadow time that he feels fulfilled, and Junpei and Fuuka have similar feelings, thinking that their lives up till now were empty and pointless. There's also talk of how Aegis' reason for existing is destroying shadows, and that once they're gone, without a purpose, she might just be shut down. Strega is shown living in an abandoned hospital or something, and Chidori is apparently a chronic wrist-slitter (typical). Post-credits scene is Ryouji standing at the bridge which makes no sense because they haven't killed the Hanged Man yet.
The whole thing feels like a badly-edited digest of a much longer TV series and is just really disjointed. I wouldn't say it's a bad movie, but it's this close to being so.
You sort of have Rise and Fuuka in your party all the time, they just don't fight.
Each of them has skills the main character can activate in battle; Rise's revolve around offense (moving first, free skills) while Fuuka's are defence (healing).
You appoint one of them to battle support and the other to navigation, and like the other characters they can equip a second persona. Personae now have specific skills that can only be used by one of the two support roles, which can be really useful. They gain levels with you too, just not as fast. Their main personae can get stuff from skill cards too, though there's really no reason to do so considering how few skills there are worth giving them (since they don't fight there's actually no real reason to change their personae once you have the skills you want either, actually).

That image right there is why we better hope the Persona 2 cast and the Persona 3 cast never team up to fight Nyarlathotep. The combined daddy issues would kill us all.
So, a little tidbit on the story of P4A:Ultimax --
The story takes place only a few days after the events of Persona 4 Arena, when the town of Inaba is clouded in a shroud of red fog in which time is warped and people disappear. Inaba has almost become like the world inside the television. To add to it all, the members of the Persona 4 team find Mitsuru and Akihiko being crucified on the Midnight Channel. In front of the Inaba students appear Yukari and Junpei, members of the Shadow Worker unit who have come to the rural town in order to save their upperclassmen.

Shigenori Soejima wants to know what you think of his designs and answer your questions about the demons and characters he has done work on. No, really.
Say, you people have heard of how P4U2 has only two story modes, right? P3 and P4, it was mentioned in Persona Magazine. Looks like they're doing it Chronophantasma style which is kind of cool.
Wonder what they're going to do with people like Elizabeth, though.
Edit: Speaking of Elizabeth (PQ stuff)
Judging from how P3 and P4 guy promise to meet again and a bunch of other stuff, I'm getting the impression that they might seriously be bringing P3 guy back sometime.

I'm thinking Brotagonist, Brosuke, Brokihiko, Stupei and..Kanji.

I might actually take him instead.

The fun of the game comes from
mixing it up, though.
P3MC / Shinji / Chie(or Kanji)
Elizabeth / Yukari (or Yukiko)
Team Failed Character Experiments
I mean sure they don't have upgrades in P3 so that makes sense, but it's still kind of sad when everyone else gets fancy new shit.
(P3 guy gets Messiah FYI, Thanatos is fucking DLC)
...Elizabeth isn't an option, cj.
3DS: 1607-3034-6970
We'll see about that.
Then it'll be some mix of Yukari, Yukiko, Mitsuru, Akihiko, and Kanji.
Rise, Yukari, Yukiko, Chie, and Mara
On an unrelated note I'm at a cinema right now about to watch the second P3 movie.
Totally going to end up wanting to play P3P again after this, huh
Edit: WOW that movie was so mediocre it managed to kill the P3 bug that PQ had given me.
Did get some cool merch though. In fact I'm happier about the merch than the movie.

Totally fine with this. The story mode from P4A was ridiculous and overwrought.
That little pipsqueak had better not get anywhere near my waifu.
