I do think he was genuinely trying to develop the character but putting her in situations she wasn't comfortable with, but the result plays like a novel length version of that cliche scene in any action film with a female bad ass where someone puts make up on her and shows her she can be pretty.
Playing Innocent Sin and it's difficult to see how it has so much goodwill from people here compared to 3 and 4. Some of the things you need to do to progress are ridiculously obtuse, like leave and come back and talk to the same person multiple times. There's been more than one time that I just had absolutely no clue how to progress the story and had to use a walkthrough.
Persona 1 and Persona 2 (at least the one that game out here for PSP) are both just normal Shin Megami Tensei games. They're all right if you're into that sort of thing, but I generally lose interest pretty fast.
I think there's a number of people here that love Persona 3 and 4 (and maybe Q) but haven't really managed to get into any of the other Shin Megami Tensei games, but since there's nothing to be gained from jumping in and being negative only the champions really get heard, and it creates the impression those games have a lot of good will here.
I definitely think they're worth a try, but I wouldn't even count them as part of the same series.
I definitely am excited to see what EOV keeps from Persona Q's system.
However, I'm starting to think this last dungeon will never end. Just got to the eighth floor and the damn thing is full sized...(Trying, unsuccessfully, to power through the end before Majora's Mask comes out.)

Honestly I would be interested in Persona 2 but only if it got some system changes.
I think the psp version changed some stuff but it has a lot of PSX jRPG conventions in its gameplay that I'm just not willing to tolerate these days.
I spend most of my time with Atlus-games not playing them.
Also I think Heat Riser is really inefficient in Persona 4. If it lasted more turns, it could be worth using. And Dragon Hustle is amazing.
But regular Ma-kaja are good enough to make Heat Riser more "ehh, I guess?" than "wow".
It's a cool move, though. Dumb Junkyard lasershow.
In Persona Q, it's pretty good, because it does make people hit harder than Matarukaja does, and stacking powerups on one character is worthwhile, or at least amusing.
I just finished Persona Q. First playthrough, P3 side. Exactly 101H, 0M.
I'm finishing up some post game stuff now.
Debilitate, Heat Riser, Shura Instincts, Tentarafoo, and Matarakaju are basically all you need to kill anything. My level 99 Kanji did 25k damage to the end boss in one turn (after one turn of setup).
I don't think any enemies in the entire game nullify physical damage.
Persona Q is kind of easy, when all is said and done, both by Persona and Etrian standards.
However, the PUZZLES can certainly give you a run for your money.
A convenience-point of my Mazio/garu/ragi/bufu, Auto-Mataru/suku/raku is that it costs fucking nothing, so the gimmick-dungeon doesn't even make a difference. I'll spam any elements I want, all day. If you survive the All-Out, congratulations, have another All-Out.
Most of the time physical is all you really need, though.

Yeah, Tentarafoo is fucking amazing. Does anyone other than Yosuke get it? Because if I ever do a second playthrough I don't think I can live without it.

Mitsuru and Yosuke both learn it, but you can get it as a skill card as well.

Oh right, I forgot about skill cards.
Yosuke was basically a Tentarafoo-bot for the entirety of my playthrough. A bit boring, but extremely effective since it works on basically every enemy. I never saw the gimmicks and special attacks of some bosses because they were confused throughout the entire fight.

I just posted this on GameFAQs about one of the bonus bosses. Did you finish the game? If not, don't read (though it's not a huge spoiler, I guess):
So I was fighting Liz for the fourth time and depleted all of her health in one turn (second turn - one turn was setup).
Kanji activates Shura Instincts
Turn 1:
P3MC (L): Debilitate on Liz
P4MC (VL): Heat Riser on L99 Kanji
Kanji: Power Charge
Yukari: Tentarafoo
Yukiko: Matarakaju
Turn 2:
Rise: Spotlight on Kanji
Kanji: Hassou Tobi
Kanji had First Star too. Anyway, he did over 25k in damage. That's without a Heroic Gemini firing.
Liz just sat there with 1 HP for a few turns while still panicked, thwacking herself in the face with her book. She finally unpanicked, cast Diaharan, went back to being panicked (thanks Yukari), and then the same thing happened. 25k damage and still wouldn't die. The second time, after unpanicking she finally dropped from a lovetap.
Assuming you're not overpowered, how is the fight "supposed" to go? Are there stages I skipped? She did talk once.
Is the trio that easy as well? Even at max level/powerful personae/skills, the bonus bosses in previous games were not easy. Kind of a bummer. She even lets you equip the Omni Orb. Hell, she even hints you should use the Omni Orb against a "more powerful" adversary should one present itself to you - I assume she's talking about herself.
If you did beat the game, can you confirm NG+ carryover for me?
Both shop UNLOCKS + the items you've stored at the shop + your inventory carry over, right? So if I store 99 Repulse Bells and hold on to another 60, all of that will carry over?

They do have a lot of good will here, especially with those of us who have been playing the series since the PSX era. (Starting with the racist, racist translation of the first Persona...)
I definitely think they're worth a try, but I wouldn't even count them as part of the same series.
That's awesome. There's also that one passive skill (forgot what it's called) that lets you deal extra damage to enemies affected by a status condition, which is great coupled with Tentarafoo.
Also, I had no idea that you can cast Heat Riser on other characters. Did it work like that in the other Persona games too?

Don't be a goose.
Stylistically and mechanically they're unrelated.
They're SMT games, not Persona games. There is very little difference between them and the majority of other SMT games, so anyone coming to them from the SMT series is going to be very comfortable. Someone coming from the Persona games will be in for a surprise -- possibly a pleasant one, if the dungeon grinding was the primary appeal of P3 and P4 for them.
It was not, for me.
Also I reeeeeeeally hate negotiating with demons.

Yeah, seriously. If you liked P3 and loved P4, you're going to be in for a shock if you try to play 1 and 2. Maybe you'll like them! But it'll be like expecting a hamburger and instead getting meatloaf. They have the beef in common, but that's about it.

There's a fsteak joke in there somewhere
Maybe, but I wouldn't fsteak my future on anyone here making one.
morgana sounds female, wonder if it's going to have a human form like teddy
I don't think she would have to. Teddie's human form was so he could be in the real world and not freak people out. Morgana's cat form already does that.

Have to? No. I'd imagine that the temptation to put in a bona-fide catgirl will be too strong for it to never happen throughout a 100+ hour game, however.

I don't believe so. It felt weird to me.
You didn't even try Heat Riser before? Yeah, damn, if it couldn't be used on other characters in Persona 4 it would be goddamn worthless. Even I have a higher opinion of it than that.

I had it. Trumpeter learned it in P4G. I guess my memory could be wrong but I was pretty sure it was self-only.
Edit: I guess I was wrong, but by the time I got Heat Riser I was murderizing enemies wholesale anyway. Usually my auto-ma persona was more than enough.

Fun fact, Persona was originally intended to not even have the SMT logo. In fact, I'm pretty sure the original version DIDN'T have the SMT logo. P1 and P2 are persona games as much as P3 and P4 are. They may feel different, but that's just how it is with the changing of times; with the evolution of how the series works. Same thing with P5; P5 is gonna have stuff like stealth and platforming; are we gonna just deny THAT as part of the Persona experience? Or perhaps we should consider P5 the new meta for how Persona is now and say that P3 and P4 aren't 'Persona' games.

Persona 2 sacrifices the Waifus for a better cast and better story.
The introduction is incredibly boring though. At this point I should probably just read LPs of the games instead of playing them, since I have tried to get trough the initial part of whichever Persona 2 that came out on psp.
And yes, I consider the introduction to P4 vastly superior to the introduction och P2. Mainly because of gameplay though I guess, it's actually good.
So it's confirmed that the P5 Protagonist's starting persona is "Arsène". Obviously a homage or direct reference to Arsène Lupin.
Though as far as adaptions go, I don't think P5 will hold a candle to The Quantum Thief and sequels, nor will it be as fun as Lupin III. There are a truckload of adaptions and/or 'inspired by's of Arsène Lupin out there.

Other info from Famitsu:
The main character is a second year student who moves to the big city during spring. He lives with friends of his parents at the coffee shop they run. That said, the game takes place in urban Japan, across areas such as Shibuya.
The protagonist has a problem of some sort that, if not faced down, could spell big trouble in the future. The scene in the trailer where he appears to be a prisoner is a “mental prison,” so to speak.
The dungeon shown off in the trailer isn’t randomly generated. Such major places in the storyline are designed to play up the burglary motif and have special gimmicks. But that doesn’t mean randomly generated content is gone from the game altogether.
While a Social Link option seemed to be missing from the game’s main menu in last week’s trailer, a Social Link-like system is seemingly in the works (perhaps the “Cooperation” option?).
