The nearest participating Best Buy is only a ten minute walk from my house.
Not that I was planning on going.

So last year at the Best buy E3 thing, the local Nintendo rep was there and we talked a bit. she didn't say why the store in particular got chosen over bigger ones, but.. well.. NINTENDO REP. Nintendo doesn't have a ton of reps - they are usually regional, travelling around from store to store to make sure their goods are represented well. Around here, we have a very booming college environment, not that it matters around the time of E3. My suspicion is that we were picked due to that representation, the central location, and the fact that it isn't a massively packed city so the waiting lists were only for an hour and not 3-4.
The Portland location is the same as the last event, not terribly inconvenient but still out of the way.
But the last event had me waiting in line for like 2 hours for maybe a minute of gameplay and I didn't even get many streetpasses which is really fucked up!
And yet I'm considering going anyway. On Wednesday after getting out of work. There is so little chance of it being worth the effort and yet I feel like I might as well. I don't have anything better to do!

Not only is that the only Portland location but also the only Oregon location apparently. Sucks too, since there's one literally 10 minutes from where I live.

oh yeah, I'm actually out in Beaverton and there's a Best Buy near the mall and there's a Best Buy maybe 15 minutes from there and there's like 2 other Best Buys I can think of that are fairly close by.
But hey lets all go out to the Airport where it's convenient for no one in the entire state.
Pic of the day. Characters that have heavy damage slowly start to emit steam. When your opponent starts to get nice and smoky, give 'em a solid attack!

Spoiler: All characters are robots.
...
I don't think that's steam.

Sheik doesn't seem to have the pose mirroring that Bowser and Kirby have. The percentage symbols above the characters is an interesting touch, too.

They raise a really interesting point there when they're talking about the Find Mii stage. Since everyone playing the 3DS version will (obviously) play it on their own system and not on a shared screen, there are some really cool possibilities to mess with the other players while staying unaffected yourself. Maybe that's how the Nintendog Assist Trophy works in the 3DS version - if you use it, the dog only shows up on the other players' screen, but not on yours.
Speaking of stages, what stages do you guys think we'll see in the game in addition to those we already know about? Looking through the list, the major franchises that don't have their own stages yet (not counting returning stages from previous games) are Star Fox, Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Kirby. For Donkey Kong, I hope they use something from Tropical Freeze - my personal favorite would be the safari-like levels from world 3, if only for the amazing tracks used there.

There will be a WarioWare stage for sure once Wario is finally announced. Also I assume an Earthbound stage - possibly just one of the classic stages. And an F-Zero stage for sure. They did announce a Kirby stage in the Halberd stage returning though.
Other stages will depend on who else is announced. If the rumors are to be believed, than there is probably a Pacman stage, and maybe a Xenoblade stage (assuming Pacman and Shulk). I would personally guess at least one more 8-bit (or 8-bit inspired) stage besides Balloon Fight (though maybe Pacman could count as this?). Probably more returning stages they haven't announced yet (honestly, the Wind Waker one from Brawl would make a lot of sense given the HD version is not that old... they could pretty it up to match the HD version's visuals :P).
A Pac Man stage would probably just be the middle part where the ghosts come from, and every now and then a cherry item appears. The ghosts are stage hazards.

My assumption would be they would try to do the maze, or some representation of it. Maybe without the outer walls. And you would of course be able to go from the left to right screen (and vice versa) ala the Balloon Fight stage :P
Actually, 3DS probably couldn't handle it, so it won't happen. Plus the fact that this game probably can't draw much on 3D World due to how long it has been in development.

I wouldn't say that. We got a Sonic Lost World stage, and that game came out only a month before Mario 3D World.
I still want a stage that takes place on a Koopa Troop Airship, or inside Bowsers Castle with a large stretch of it being on the classic bridge you fight Bowser on, with a switch to collapse it that becomes active occasionally.

The two versions have the same roster, but does that mean they have the same items?

So far only the assit trophies may differ slightly
I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.
Well, there's two locations for MN... and this hey don't make any sense at all, since they're relatively far away from like 80% of the Twin Cities metro area (both on the northern edge, basically).
I can't believe they didn't pick the Mall of America location.
Maple Grove is like 20-30 minutes away from the cities. ...And like 2-3 minutes away from my house!

Sure. And another 20-30 minutes into the cities. Not very convenient when both of them are at 694 and I'm south of 494.
Pic of the day. You can charge up Ike's Eruption attack by holding the button down, but remember to release it right before it fully charges to avoid recoil damage. Let go of the button at the moment the sword shines!

One. Of the worst. Side b was a joke and up B was too predictable, slow, and had no vertical recovery.

Oh man, Double Cherry Ice Climbers.... Or.... four Double Cherry Ice Climbers....

Come on, Galaxy stage. Down is to the middle of the level, and hitting off any side is an upward kill.
