Belay that, after checking the voting poll I attempted to edit my reserved guild name to the third place selection: Red Dead Rowsdower and it went through (has a timer and everything).
Big Damn Heroes was taken, Dont Mess With Nexus has the aforementioned issue.

I got Frodo and Red Dead Rowsdower earlier, and watched the time to edit them expire. I assumed I had them for sure.
I logged back in and both names were there with ?? under them, so I hit save again for both, and the timer restarted.
I have no idea how both of us could have the same name.
I tried to claim some other names like Wily and Zap, and it said they were already taken, so I think everything is fine...but geez.

Just confirmed it 'appears' i had to re-enter my names as well. They were still there but didn't seem to have the 'lock' in place. At first I was doing the name reservation as a lark, since I don't have many names I'm really attached to and like coming up with new ones. But after what we all suffered through today......I'm kind of fricking annoyed at this point lol. Seriously, this all just feels ass-backwards Carbine.

At this point I'm turning to a "do-over" and 'public apology' mentality. Not because I want a shot at my first choice name, but because this seems completely fucked up now. Like, are they just messing with us?

I doubt any of it is intentional, but maybe when they tried to fix their system (it is working *a lot* better now) they lost some of the data that was entered before.
Or equally possible, a lot of the registrations that people thought went through when the system was completely fucked never went through at all.
I'm pretty shocked that I (apparently) got Beau. That was my rogue in WoW and I have rarely been able to get that name in other games since. The only reason I got it in WoW was because I server shopped for it at launch. My back-up name is typically available and my back-up-back-up name is just frankly weird and I think I'm the only person who likes it (never had it taken in a game before).
So if tomorrow morning I no longer have it I'm not too worried, but it would be nice to have it again.
I was able to get in and the name had a timer. Their twitter account said that it was saved so I've done all I can do aside from freak out so - good to go unless otherwise notified
Just keep in mind that if you are willing to wait 15 days, you might have another shot your desired name.

I wound up changing my 'See You Space Cowboy' to 'Big Damn Space Cowboys' because that sounds a bit more like a name for an actual group of people. Also pretty cool, I think.

I called it too. People are discovering, en masse now, that the system failed to reserve their name even if it appeared successful.
Comedy of errors does describe the situation fairly accurately.
This system is a pretty clearly how to not do this.
It would have been better if I'd just written it on a piece of paper and mailed it to them.

I have not deleted my WTF folder or power cycled my modem yet though.
So that answers that at least, when you edit your reservation it does not correctly tell you if you tried to edit it to something already taken.
